For those who don't follow Drake's Flames, you may not yet have heard about a very cool card game called Arctic Scavengers. It's the first offering from a small press company called Driftwood Games.

The best way to describe it is a a variant of Dominion that takes Dominion to a whole new level, but the theme is remarkably different. In AS you command a tribe of post apocalyptic survivors. Weather patterns have gone horribly wrong and now humanity struggles to survive in a new ice age.

You still build your deck from a common pool, but now you must also allocate resources to a fight for valuable commodities that could help you during the game and at its end. The winner is determined by the size of your tribe at the end of the game. Another cool aspect that differentiates AS from Dominion is that these victory points (the people in your tribe) help you during the game.

I love Dominion, but I like AS more. You can find AS at www.driftwoodgames.com .

If you are fortunate enough to be going to GenCon, they will be there demoing the game and its upcoming expansion. You can find more details here:

Howdy again. Peeps who've known me a long time know that I'm no shill. I latch on to something I believe in and will pimp it to the best of my ability. In this case, all I'm doing is talking, a friend of mine did all the work.

I learned about this game from Imax when he reviewed it on Drake's Flames. I got to meet the designer and play some of the expansion. I bought a first edition of this game.

I'm very happy to report that Rio Grande has picked up for a professional release of the same quality as Dominion! Read about it here:

This game is the bees knees if you're into post apocalyptic mayhem. Yeah, I totally am...

If you don't play this game when it comes out next year, you're really missing out. Enjoy!
