Well this is my first try for a Heroscape fan-fiction, based on a match between me and a friend. Tell me what you think!

The 4th Massachusetts Line was under direct orders from Jandar. A Wellspring has been found to the south of a long strip of land, known as Sniper's Hill. Named so because of its heights and crevices, any traveler would have needed protection to make it by if he intended to live. Would have. Since the Rise of the Valkyrie, it has been a desolate land, with no real reason to enter.

But today was different. Utgar and Jandar had both gotten word of a Wellspring, but Jandar was closer. He had positioned a group of shooters to hold off his troops. Jandar didn’t expect a large army, since Utgar’s last defeat was so crippling. He had positioned the Airborne Elite, Six Omnicron Snipers, and Four members of the 4th Massachusetts Line.

On the horizon, across the rivers, the first members of the army could be seen. It was larger than expected, with nearly 50 Blade Gruts marching in front of some of Utgar’s strongest soldiers; from Krug and Brunak to Taelord, Khosumet and his wolves. The Gruts were marching across the river, entering the second area, a large hill with rivers on both sides. Once the Orcs could be seen on the crest of the hill, all hell broke loose.

Bullets were flying across the field. Enemy soldiers began to fall with ease, and soon only a dozen were left, crossing a river only a few yards away from the front lines of Omnicrons and the Airborne. Only two could pass by the field of gunpowder and smoke, only able to defeat one of the Snipers before falling to shots from the soldiers on the hill above.

But while focusing on the Blade Gruts, they didn’t notice another threat approaching. Taelord, lead Kyrie of Utgar’s Army, was marching over the hill. Behind him were the greatest, and largest of his troops. On Brunak’s back rode Khosumet and the Anubian Wolves were running along with the galloping Trolticor. Taelord took flight and flew across the river. All of the soldiers began to fire at him, leaving marks, but not damaging him too badly. Before he could reach the soldiers, an arrow hit him between the eyes, and he fell plunging into the water. The 4th Line looked behind them to see Syvarris, the greatest archer on Feylund, standing behind them.

“What are you doing here?!?” One of them called, and the elf responded nonchalantly: “I’m here to save your lives!”

Ullar and Jandar have becoming friendly as of late, and Ullar saw no harm in lending his most precise marksmen to his newfound ally. But back to the battle. Krug began to march across the river, sloshing through the mud, his shoulders just reaching up from the top of the water. Syvarris and the soldiers rain a hail of weapons upon him. Syvarris’s arrows hit, and he pulls them out in rage. Soon muskets fire, just gracing his shoulder and drawing little blood.

Brunak and his passenger walk right through the water, with the wolves swimming behind. They crawl onto the shore, shake themselves off, and howl out a signal to their commander; they’re thirsting for blood. Krug charges from the water as the Airborne’s bullets hit his thick hide. He cleaves one in half, and cuts three of the Omnicrons directly in half. He is slowly weakening, but he is just becoming stronger. Soon the Omnicrons are crushed under his giant blade, and the leader of the 4th Line has his musket aimed at Krug, who is reaching up at him.

BANG! The shot echoes, sailing directly into the monster’s flesh. He crumples under his own weight, and falls to the ground. But the troubles are not over yet.

Three wolves rush forward toward the three final Elites. One of them is taken down quickly, but they’re weapons are no good against the quick-moving wolves at close range. A soldier falls to the wolf’s claw, and is quickly taken down from above by a Linesman. Khosumet leaps off the Trolticor and runs to join his last man, who is fighting against two soldiers.

The final wolf is beaten by a lucky shot from a Linesman, but Khosumet is the strongest of the monsters. He slashes wildly at one of the Elites, killing him, and petrifying the last man. Khosumet tackles him, pinning him to the ground. The wolf’s foul breath covers his face and he prepares for death. But suddenly, he fells himself free, Khosumet dead on top of him. A well placed arrow in the back of his neck had defeated him.

Brunak runs up the back of the hill, turning the hero’s attention to the back. His giant sword flailing, his face red with anger. Syvarris fires arrows, both cut in mid-air by Brunak’s blade. He charges towards a Linesman, ready to strike, he raises his sword to cleave the enemy in half. But he feels his body crumple under him, and he looks over. An arrow is places directly in the vein on his neck. His body is no longer his; his mind clouds. Syvarris is standing behind, bow drawn. They're safe, finally.

But how long can they last when Utgar sends his next attack?

overall good, but the end was kind of weird, maybe brunak was focused on another man when syvarris nailed him?

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that! Which, in retrospect, was the simplest idea. I added it in!
