So, are we looking at October 17th for this year's NHSD and with the release of Wave 9 are we looking at some prize support from WOTC?
I'm starting to plan for the Florida tourney (moving to Tampa this year from Orlando due to better facilities and FLGS support) and I'd like to get started with my players since Florida is one of the bigger states and planning as far ahead as possible really helps.

Thats a good question. Does anyone know if Wizards of the Coast is going to give sponsorship??

I think a wise rule of thumb for this year (and all years) is to assume no prize support and be really grateful if it does happen.

That is always a good rule of thumb..... however the best bet is to hit the pavement and find your own prize pool -vs- waiting for some to fall in your lap. although falling in your lap is also a good thing ( I do accept charity )

Wisdom of the ages, or common sense?
I do believe sense is not as common as the term implies.
+rep to you sir.

Common sense is almost a thing of the past if you ask me. One to many seem not to have it.
I know you should provide prizes yourself, but I was just wondering if the was any word about prize support.

First as houskeeping, could someone make this thread a Sticky at the top of the National Heroscape Day forum, and unstick the 2008 NHSD submission forum.
Now, an idea I had was maybe getting a pre-release of Wave 10 (Special Release or whatever its called) from WotC to give as prizes for NHSD, or even play with them in the tournaments. No one knows the official release day yet, but if they can produce a limited amount and ship by October 17, it would be nice. They could even charge full price to NHSD organizers or get dealers who hosted/sponsor tournament an early shipment, and it would still be great. Dunno if Truth or anyone at Heroscapers.com has clout to request such a thing though, just an idea.
Also, if by October 17 Truth or someone gets their hands on the Official Cards for Granite Guardians & Quasatch Hunters but we cannot get the figures in time for NHSD as suggested above, should we be able to use Obsidian Guards & Dzu-Teh (repainted or by themselves) with the new official cards? I think it would be nice to be able to try them before we can buy them, but maybe a tournament is not the place for that. Any thoughts or opinions?

So is October 17, 2009 the "official" day or is that just the current guess?
I'd like to know so I can schedule it with my FLAGS as soon as possible.
Thanks...

Currently just a guess.

It makes sense. It is usually the third Saturday in October.

Wow, is it almost time for NHSD already? But I've barely started to get my new roommates hooked on Scape! How am I going to turn them into tournament-caliber players by then? ;)
Haha, I'm not even sure they'd choose a tournament over whatever outdoors activities occur in October. As for me, I'm looking forward to throwing down once again in la Ciudad de los Arboles. :) (did I get that right? My high school Spanish isn't aging too well...)

Other than the elementary neglect of an accent over the A, you're all right. ;)

Yeah, I'm lazy like that :) . And it really should be 'Ciudad de la Selva' now that I think about it. Right? I guess the important thing is that I know how to get there, and after 4 years I'm getting pretty close to memorizing the route down there ;)

So, is someone going to compile a list of all 2009 NHSD competitions. Again, I repeat my request to make this thread (or a new one) sticky and unstick the 2008 threads
