View Full Version : Morsbane and Deathstalkers

I have a couple questions that I need help with. I would appreciate any advice.
1. Morsbane: Does his power of Negation only work on unique heroes or any unique figure? The card says "any unique figure" but I could not tell if it only meant heroes.
2. Deathstalkers: When rolling skulls on all your attack dice your opponent can't roll defense dice. That part is as plain as day. However, lets say they are within range of Taelord or you possess a glyph that boosts your attack. Does that mean you also have to roll skulls on those additional dice as well or just the original 3 for their base attack? If you would have to roll skulls for all the dice then having a bonus would weaken this unit.
Thanks for any help.

#1 If the figure is part of a unique army card then it is a unique figure and negation marker goes on its card, thus negating the powers for all the figures associated with that card.
#2 It says if they roll a skull on every dice. So that means yes, if they get a bonus they would need to roll skulls on all the dice they roll.

Although Tealords boost is optional, so you wouldn't have to.

Is it optional? Hasbro has ruled that you must roll all dice (including bonuses) when attacking or defending. Taelord's power is not worded as optional. It states all figures you control gain +1 attack dice. So you would have to roll all dice for that attack including Tae's.

Habro FAQ also say if you forget to roll the bonus dice you can't go back and roll, so if you don't want to roll you can just "forget"

Thanks everyone for the clarifications. I'll just keep my Deathstalkers away from Taelord.

I bet your opponent would be glad to remind you in some circumstances though. :D

For some reason i thought it was optinal, but yes "forgetting to" is the only way it apears.

Deathstalkers is the first unit with which you prefer to attack opponent's figures on the same level without trying to get height advantage. Very interesting.
I played with them saterday night for the first time and did 3/3 skulls with two dogs against two Sentinels of Jandar. Hehehe! No defense dice. I was soo pleased!

Is "forgetting" to roll the extra dice considered bad sportsmanship? I'd hate to win one round just to lose the respect of my opponent.

Forgetting is not bad sportsmanship. Pretending to forget when you haven't in order to gain an advantage is certainly bad sportsmanship.

Pretending to forget isn't just bad sportsmanship, it is plain old cheating.
The Rechets are also units that you might not want height or attack bonuses for.

Still, with the Rechets, it would be a four attack unit, and be able to break through a lot of the common squads' defense. While their effect would be neutralized, It is relatively useless on a squad with only 2 or 3 defense. The chances of rolling 3 out of 3 skulls is 50%, while, as we all have discussed in previous threads, it would be a 33.3 repeating% chance to roll 3 out of 3 shields. Thus, when facing MOST squads, height would be a good thing. Unless you know your opponent has been rolling REALLY good, and you just can't seem to hit with height, then don't use it. Simple as that.

Against most squads though, I'd much rather just get height if I could for Rechets or Deathstalkers. The chance of Mauling goes from 12.5% to 6.25%, but I think the chance of scoring a wound on low defense squad figures actually goes up.

In response to glyph bonuses, I'll take the extra die and less chance to Maul if it keeps my opponent from getting the glyph attack bonus.
If I can get both a glyph bonus and height...booyah!! 5 dice attack versus most single wound units is worth it. Against multi-wound figures, it's less appealing but probably still worth it depending on circumstances.
