Hey All,

I am way to excited for my 2nd year going to play HS at GC and am trying to figure out all the things I want to do. I know I will be spending some Time in open game room, and I got to thinking there are some of my favorite games that I would love to play against others who are good at it and gamers, since a lot of my play groups are beginer gamers - I want to play some of my favorite games against other veterans ( well beside Heroscape ).

I was just wondering if anyone else would be interested in this?

For me I am looking at

Last Night On Earth
Kingdoms 2 player
Fallen Lands
Micropul
and I am hoping Dirge if I ever get my order in!

I figure you could also list games you have not played or arre a begininer and want to play with people who haved played it before.

I will be thinking of this one to add to this list soon!

I've played several games of Last Night on Earth (which is a great game!) I wouldn't say i'm an expert at it though because that game is Insanely huge with all the different game types, I've still only played about half of them.

I'd be up to playing allot of new games myself but one game I'd really like to try out is Descent.

I know there a half a dozen expansions for it but I haven't even been lucky enough to find a group who has it and wants to play. So anyone who's looking to play some Descent, PLEASE hit me up. It's one of my goals for GenCon to find my next gaming vice for the next year.

Last year it was Catan, Besides Heroscape I'd only say I'm an expert at the Catan series (which i'll be bringing down).

Worseley - That is funny I have descent also and have never played it yet. I have thought of it, but not sure I want a 4 - 6 hour game at GC. Yep I learned settlers the night before Gencon last year and love it, I would have put that one, but it is way to easy to find settler players at GC. Good luck finding your Descent game, I know last year people hooked up form here to play!

Yeah, it is a shame it's a long game but it sounds like something that I'd like to try out.

GenCon is a great place for me to find out what I wanna get myself for Christmas. Last Year I grabbed the entire Catan Series with the 5/6 player expansions(Incredibly priced at $116 new too).

Catan though is a pretty simple family game with allot of strategy. If any of you guys have a game to suggest and an open spot for Kyrie and me I'd be pretty interested in hooking up to play some games in the afternoon.

Hell we all have 1 big game in common, I'm sure most of us would be interested in trying out the same types of games.

Words cannot describe how much I despise Catan with 5 or 6 players...

I am an 'expert' (I am using this term loosely here) at:

Dominion
Killer Bunnies
KB: Journey to Jupiter
Race for the Galaxy
Space Alert
Betrayal at House on Haunted Hill
Arkham Horror
Hey! That's my Fish!
Ticket to Ride
Settlers of Catan
Risk
Axis and Allies
Memoir 44

Games I'd like to play:

Descent
Power Grid
Pandemic
Agricola
Puerto Rico
San Juan

Mrs. Mecha Frog and I have Wednesday night mostly unscheduled and we would like to get in on some pick-up games, too.

Ticket to Ride, Settlers and Formula D are what we're playing mostly, but we'd love to learn some new games.

Our "New to Us" game we have scheduled is Shadows Over Camelot. I think our session for this is Thursday afternoon.

What you cats need to do is make a list of who is bringing what to :gencon:. That way no games are left at home and to make sure there are not three copies of, insert game title here.

I think I am good at Settlers of Catan, but I am not sure all said and done.

Mecha - I have been playing TTR, but we do not block routes and such, which I think will bring a new level of play to the game, how do you guys play? Formula D sounds great, and I want to try Camelot also - see if I like Co-op games or not? Where are you planning on gaming on Wend.?

Most of my games are in Costa Rica, so I will not be bringing much, but will plan on buying a bunch of stuff - hopefully.

Hahn - good point, I will figure out what I am bringing, well besides a big bag of Heroscape stuff

Here's the noticeable stuff I have besides Scape.

Settlers of Catan (all expansions, 5/6 players)
Starcraft Board game (Actually have 2 of these)
Risk (who doesn't right?)
Racko
Wits n Wagers (grabbed it last year at GenCon)
Axis and Allies
Last Night on Earth (My brother has it, he's deployed atm but i can probably grab it)
Power Grid (again my brother has it)

Besides those, I'm not much help here. I haven't had the chance to build a great game library up yet. I do have about 50 other boardgames but they're all kid/family ones. (

Yes I agree about 5/6 player games, why we only go to 13 pts on those anymore. Which actually isn't bad when you know it'll go quickly.

You can also play Catan online at http://games.asobrain.com/ if your looking to refine strategy and tricks in the game. (it's called Xplorers for legal reasons though)

I think thats pretty much everything we'll have. You added some I didnt realize :D (Shogun, Axis & Allies, Epic Duels) But to add heres a list of games Im looking forward to trying:

Battlelore/Memior 44
Dungeon Twister
Pandemic
Battlestar Galactica (Ive read so many good reviews about this I just have to try it out at some point)
Cosmic Encounter
Betrayal at House on Haunted Hill
Arkham Horror

I want to find some good 2 player games I can tell my wife about and possibly pick up. I also want to take the opportunity to play 3+ player games since I rarely get the chance. I only signed up for Heroscape Thursday and Friday so I'm pretty open Saturday (after the Day 2 main event) and Sunday. I don't think I'll be getting any sleep while Im in Indy ;)

We will have Betrayal and Arkham if you wanna try those out. I would LOVE to play Battlestar Gallactica as well.

As far as good 2 player games I would recommend Memoir 44 and Courts of Medici. The latter you can pick up for like 7 bucks online. It is WELL worth it.

As for what I am bringing:

Arkham with Innsmouth and Dunwich
Killer Bunnies with all expansions
Killer Bunnies and Journey to Jupiter (Buying Laser Red at Gencon)
RftG
Dominion and Intrigue
Ticket to Ride Europe
Betrayal at House on Haunted Hill
Epid Duels
Space Alert
Citadels
Risk 2210 AD
Last Night on Earth
Memoir 44

We are still at the stage where we concentrate on our own routes for 4 player games. However, someone (usually me) is going to get blocked no matter what in a 5 player game.

Formula D is great! I've only played with 5 people so far but up to 10 can play at once. The more traffic the better I think.

As for where to play...that's a great question. I'll start browsing the gencon forums to see if there are any known good open gaming areas. Maybe we can find a single place for Scapers to get together. We're staying at the Hyatt.

I like that idea, I know they have a area where you can borrow games and try them out. They hold onto your badge while your playing but I'm not sure it's the best option we'd have. I know last year I saw dozens of groups playing games out in the halls on tables.

Maybe that or a hotel lobby would be the best place?

Mostly I'm thinking about a Wednesday night location. The Convention Center rooms will not be open to us.

The Con rooms are never for open play outside of the events.

You could try gathering on the NE corner of the 1st floor of the Convo. It seems to be popular for open gaming.

Room 500 is open 24/7 for the game library. It cost 1 generic to play a game but not bad.

Your hotel lobby is always a choice.

I've mentioned in another thread that I would like to play Titan with some other experienced players. I have two possible players, but another would be welcome. I don't really know which evening I will playing it; I am flexible.

I saw someone mention Shadows over Camelot. I would love to get a game of that. I just got it as a gift, and have yet to play it.

I would also like to play War of the Ring. Another recent acquisition of mine that I have yet to play.

Mecha, I wouldn't mind playing a little Formula De on Wednesday. I would like to play somewhere that I can watch the U.S. Men's Team World Cup Qualifier that night, and I don't know what time that game will be played. When I see a time, I'll post it, and maybe we can get together.

Yes to watching the World Cup Game. We recently went to a Columbus Crew game and it was a blast.

Ok, so far I am failing miserably on finding any specific location to game from the gencon board people, so I've done the unthinkable...I asked.

There is a party at the Hyatt called "The Stink". I think this ends at around 8 and there should be plenty of gaming goodness to be had after.

We should be there by 8 for sure. It's about a 10 hour drive for us, but we'll for sure be out of here by 9 or 10 am.

Ask and ye shall receive...

the Gamer Wenches are again hosting open gaming Wednesday night after the Stink. Here is the info:

ZED0904611

Start Date & Time: 08/12/2009 08:00:00 PM

Duration: 4 hours

Location: Hyatt : Discovery : 1--10

In the past the Hyatt has been an excellent place to find a spot for a pickup game so if you have a game going and midnight rolls around you can just move the game outside the room and continue where you left off....

This is a free ticketed event. I don't think we will have any issues getting some tables even if we don't have tickets.

The "Stink" usually goes until about Midnight. You also need a ticket. The waiting list is currently 400+ Depending on how soon the free booze runs out and the free Swag bags are gone you might be able to talk your way in and get a table.

And yes I have a ticket. :p

I actually don't own that one. It is on my wishlist. BGG's collection page puts wishlist items on it too, but you can filter them out on the page. If I pick it up before Gen Con I will let you know. Also, if I find a good deal on it there. I may just pick it up:)

I am trying to get a couple of Dirge´s ( Reprint ) before I go, just wondering if others will be bringing it, I sure hope to!

Any Tannhouser fans out there? I have it and played it a few times, but would love to get in a game of that at sometime. I think this is one where someone with a lot of experience will win simply from knowing how it all works together, but not sure, it is still slinging dice when it comes down to it.

I would love to get in a game of Powergrid or Puerto Rico also, I own both but have never played and would prefer to play this one with people who have played it already and can explain it along the way.

We have had enough talk about Arkham horror to justify a seperate thread for it, I think. I've gone ahead and started that so anyone interested should go over there to talk about it. Those that already said they are coming please confirm it there and any ideas for a place to play. Time problems, etc.

My cousin and I would both love to play Betrayal. We're also up for LNOE and we would really like to play Cosmic Encounter. I'll also bring Red Dragon Inn 1 & 2.

The only problem is we're getting in late on Wednesday night and leaving Friday by 2:00 in the afternoon. Take out the Heatof Battle and Smack Down tournaments and that doesn't leave much time. If anyone would like to play any of those games during that time frame please let me know.
