Rychean posted some pics of some awesome Fire Pieces from GF9 (GaleForce Nine) on the HQ. I immediately picked some up. Here are some pictures of the pieces and what it looks like put together.

Rychean, please post your pictures here with the HS terrain to show how awesome the fire pieces look integrated with the HS stuff.

I hope that he get his pics up. At the right angle, you really don't notice the cross-hatched assemblies. They look awesome on the battle field.
He has some custom rules for them. I'd just like to get a whole mess of them to mark when Mimring or someother fire-oriented creature goes off. Those spaces could become terrain that is blocked by the fire continuing to burn.

I flipped the Red base upside down so you don't even see the lettering at all. They really do look and feel like HS stuff. He needs to post his rules too. Can't wait to see them!

The writing on the pieces is annoying. I'm glad the base can be flipped.
Have you thought about using these with one of your customs like Feuergeist? Perhaps replace his special attack with the ability to place a few of these on the battlefield?
I am playtesting some figures now that can toss a smoke grenade to block LOS with a terrain piece you place on the battlefield and it seems like something that would be interesting to do for fire based customs.

They have them at LSC in Arlington. They are a bit pricy: $10.99 for 3 of them.

Ouch! I might not be in as big a hurry to snatch them up.

See? Because I over-do everything, I want about 100 of them (okay, 99). However, when I do the math, it frightens even me, the owner of 20 RttFFs.

That does seem a bit pricey...although does the pricey-ness outweigh the awesomeness? Because they look pretty damn awesome...

Here's a link to some of those fire markers on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/Gale-Force-Nine-Fire-Explosion-Markers-Set-GF9_W0QQitemZ8811224308QQcategoryZ7389QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZVie wItem
I liked the idea so much that I made a card to go along with the markers:

That's a cool idea about using smoke or fire markers with a character. I also like 9ths suggestion about using them to marker Mimring's fireline and then removing them over turns as the fire goes out. So many possiblities and so little time. :D

Oh crap, newb! Why'd you have to go and put that up?

The ebay price appears cheaper than the retail price at gf9 so this is a bargain. I can't see 3 dollars for one plastic flame tho.
I will stick with red & orange six-fin plastic beads for now.

hey ninthdoc, if you can hold back on them a little, i may or may not be able to get some made for you/us/members.
my friend's (player_of_football) dad works with acrylic; he's the one who made our dice towers (which we are/were selling for $15 a piece). since rychean posted pics of the individual pieces and their sizes, i can print them off and see if he can make them. IDK if he can get colored acrylic so we may be on our for the the awesomness of the colors...
printing the pics now....

Do any of you have a custom where the fire pieces would be used as units? Like a sorcerer or molten unit that spawns fire demons or fire mimics?
Seeing this thread made me remember some Calcifer minis I found on J-List.

Wow, CA, those are cool. And I totally appreciate the warning - it let me check to make sure the only girl in the office wasn't walking up behind me.

Yeah, I'm going to make it an effort to always post warnings in all of my posts that may require warnings. It just seemed like the right thing to do now.
I've been wanting to get ahold of some type of fire mini for a while and those calcifer minis were the closest thing I could find (they're like a half inch tall  ) to what I wanted.
I like the GaleForce Nine fire pieces, but I'm looking for something a little more involved shape wise.

I don't think you could make that without a laser cutter...
And then, just as I typed that, I had an idea.
I have a scroll saw. If I can get the blades you need to cut plastic, I might could make these.
I will try.

Ouch - very tricky to do a pattern that intricate, that samell, with a scroll saw. Gale Force 9 will be using a laser cutter. Seems very expensive for what they are, though.

If I can cut water widgets on a scroll saw, I can cut fire.

What about using a Dremel for the detail work. I use a Dremel to cut details in PC case mods. Should cut like butter on plastic...

I think a dremel may be too fast for plastic, but they probably have a bit for that application. I cut some plastic with a standard cutting wheel, and it mostly melted (and expanded). I ended up getting the basic line made with the dremel, but I ended up breaking the part out in the end. Of course the right tool (or bit) for the right job makes all the difference.

Yeah, you get nasty burnt edges when you try to cut acrylic with a Dremel. It'd work, after a fashion, but it won't be too neat.
