Hello everyone today i decided to try review my second mini's game outside of 'Scape so here goes nothing;)

Pros:
Mini's look great
fast,fun gameplay
customizable hero's
good map(the deluxe map is sturdier,I'll talk about this below)
also,If you play the MMO (I don't) Ive heard you'll see some familiar faces


Cons:
Price (explained below)

Overview: I mentioned the map being sturdier,of course were all MEGA spoiled with HeroScape's amazing terrain the map in here is good for a normal miniature game. the deluxe starter does have a better sturdier map but it costs a little more. Speaking of which the price for these things are Expensive but you can look at it like this: in heroscape you build massive armies slaughtering each other on gorgeous terrain when here its more of taking samll party's to fight with their customized abilitys(these are explained more in the GenCon '08 episode of 'scapetalk) fighting. you make think its a rip-off when its $15.95 for 3 mini's but first of all they look great,all of them and also you only paly 2-5 characters in your party so you'll only need about 2-3 boosters for a fun game.

I'd say start out with a starter set and 1-2 boosters and if you like them go from there. the game is similar to heroscape and yet very differant,such as:
Similaritys: many mini's work together making each other strong whic adds to faction of the game,you'll need to plan your draft and, like 'Scape, every move matters

Differences: WoW has much smaller armies and a mini's powers are customizable for example a mage you buy may come with a firebolt and a magic shield attack but as you buy more and get another mage with a lighting attack,you may mix and match their abilities

what you can not mix and match are factions you must have a alliance party,horde party,or monster party.(don't ask me the differance i don't play the MMO). while in heroscape mixing and matching armies are super common their not aloud in WoW. BUT as a house rule when i have friends over,we completly in=gnore that rule but you can't for tournaments.

All-and-All the game is fun and besides my current 2 boosters, I plan on more:...i give it a
8.5out of 10 and definately reccommend it:D EDit:maybe now i have to change my sig...

good review. I too feel the same way about the cost. But if you buy singles it can be a heck of a lot cheaper that way. Fun game though non the less. Wave 2 is coming out this month as well, so I hear.

Did anyone else see the article about Blizzard. In an economy where video game companies were mostly in the red this previous quarter, Blizzard made nearly 1 Billion Dollars! They can put whatever cost they want on their miniatures because they know people will pay for them. For the love of God, can someone please make another playable MMO.

yeah on ebay you can get 'em like 2 bucks when i got to my hobby store it's $15 for 3 so ebay can give you quite the deal...should've mentioned that oh well;)

actually one of the sponsors coolstuff has them pretty cheap, with .99 shipping for your entire order! The rares are what cost ya! Plus look at amazon as they have been having the best pricing I have seen. I got 3 packs for 7 bucks eack with 5.95 shipping a few months ago.

I like to idea of the game, and some iof the sculpts are cool, but I hate the paint jobs. The orcs heads look like green blobs with teeth. And i will never get the coloring on the orcs armor. I mean, orcs wearing BLUE?

Can somebody direct me to the figure mentioned above? I just counted & I have 24 figures of the Spoils of War series. I bought most of the first set on eBay for $1.00 each with their cards, but they haven't arrived yet. I don't have a green-headed Orc with Blue armor anywhere in my figures. What's up with that?

I'm Sorry! You're right! But I don't think GoreBelly is an Orc & he looks exactly like that in all of the WoW Universe. They're just makin' replicas of what they already have, because they're trying to sell both directions.

They want the Online people to buy the miniatures & they want the Gamers to go Online. Thanks for the Pic, that helps, but I was looking for a Little guy, as an Orc, didn't realize you meant GoreBelly. He's practically a Legend.

I've never played the Online version, but you can get a Warcraft III that will play on your computer without needing to use the Online, but it will play Online when you want it to. The Newer Battle Chest version is online only.

Your description doesn't match your picture. Or my GoreBelly is painted better than the one you have. In that case, I'd have to contact them & complain, maybe they'll send you a better one.

I have 24 here & a bunch more coming in the mail & the paint jobs on all of them are better than the whole set of heroScape I own.

I would never get rid of my 'Scape, but, the WoWs are painted finer & more detailed & all the ones I have came from Boosters at WalMart. I can't imagine WalMart getting a better quality product than anyone else.

WalMart may be a lot of things, but, High-end Collectible dealers, They'll never be,,,,

EDIT: OK, I'm wrong again, He's an Orc Warrior, that's unbelievable, he could wear a heroScape orc on each foot for shoes. Maybe he was a WWE wrestler once Upon a Time....(it could happen:roll:).

I guess that pretty much explains what everybody thinks is wrong with these.

All the scults I have look incredible and are highly detailed and I have many boosters now:
1 basic starter
1 deluxe starter
8 core set boosters
8 spoils of war boosters
and not one looks bad:)

I decided that I only need 1 Monster Hero for now & Mr. nwojedi had the princess riding the Snow Leopard, that I want, but don't have. He also agreed to trade me Marlowe Christophers, to make the trade, he offered two Core Epics for Lady Vashj, but I feel like I was lucky to get both on my first purchase & it never hurts to spread good fortune around when you make trades here.

There are at least a dozen of you that know what I mean, but I got tired of Bragging about it in My Signature....

Check your local Gamestops. They are on clearance there for $3.99 a booster. You have to ask them to look, though, because they aren't out in the store anymore. I found a ton at a Gamestop that were in a box gathering dust in the back closet, and the manager even cut me a deal on them too.

yes, gamestops did have a good deal running around here. All our stores are sold out. Some due to me. :) Gypsy was nice enough to trade me one of the pieces I needed to complete my wave 2 set. Now I only need like 8 more figures to have a full set of each. I posted my updated trade/want list in the other mini's thread.

yes,i got lady vashj on my first booster to. it's funny because i went to my gaminig store and the guy let me choose my booster i decided to get 1 with my core set and i got lady vashj,what was weird was next time i went the differant guy didnt let me choose and i got no epics then like 3 weeks later i went again the first guy that let me choose the booster was there and when i chose and looked at what was inside it was bolvar fordragon, i have magic fingers!!!!

Note the second word there "Spectral SANDBOX Tigers". I don't think he's talking about the same card you are.

As for WoW Minis itself, I've been playing a ton of it lately and I have to say, it's an absolutely amazing compliment to Heroscape. It shares many of the same traits and aspects that appeal to Heroscape players, but occupies a completely different style of play.

There are lots of things about the game that appeal to fans of Heroscape. It's got the whole prepainted, detailed miniatures thing going on and the dice mechanics are very similar. At the same time the game plays very differently. It's not about managing a whole army, but focused on just a few figures whose options are greatly expanded to give you enough decisions to remain interesting. In that way Heroscape reminds me a bit of Warcraft III (more than II) while Warcraft reminds me more of something more like Freedom Force.

Likewise, the componets are very different. With Heroscape you're likely to end up with huge amounts of terrain that can take up a lot of space, but becomes an integral part of the gameplay that can often make more of a difference than the units themselves. Warcraft is a bit smaller and more portable; easier to setup and play, but feels relatively simple. The character's are certainly the star of the show, not the maps.

As for price, its just a different kind of price honestly. While it'll probably cost you more than Heroscape (depending on how you collect each game of course) it's pretty easy to reduce the costs greatly. First off, buying in store, be it a comic shop, Target, or Wal-Mart is completely for chumps, far more than most games I've played. Quick math:

If you buy a case you'll probably get the price down to below $10 a pack, which helps immensely. Beyond that though, a single case is probably all the value you're going to get buying packs. A single case will get you 30 commons, 16 rares, and 2 epics, which is worth around $200 on the secondary market, meaning if you pay around $140-160 for the case, you've made a pretty good deal.

Beyond that, buying singles is the only way to go. For one, in all likelyhood you're just going to be getting duped commons at this point and your chance of getting a new Rare is pretty low. That means you're paying $15 for a low chance at a new figure that on the secondary market, probably isn't worth more than $6-7. It's EXTREMELY easy to finish off your collection buying singles, with the exception of Epics, which are much more expensive. Honestly though, even buying the Epics single is probably worth the money if you absolutely have to have them as the 1/8 chance of getting an epic in a booster means you're probably going to spend more than the ~$30 they cost as singles on $15 boosters to get them. If you only want a few specific figures period, buying secondary will save you a TON of money overall.

Also keep in mind there just isn't the value in owning everything there is in Heroscape. This isn't a game built around bizarre matchups and unique powers from a myriad of genres, this is a game about fantasy races hitting each other with swords and spells. The figures are all pretty well balanced and since there aren't specific point caps you need to slip under forcing you to use a character you'd otherwise pass up to "fit" in your team, you're just not as likely to use every character the way you do in Scape.

Once you find your favorite Mage, there just isn't a whole lot of use for other Mages barring specific synergies. It doesn't take a lot of figures to create a solid amount of diversity in the game, and you just don't NEED everything the same way you do in other games. You may be more interested in getting a figure for a specific Action Bar Card they come with rather than the figure itself, in which case you can usually find for even cheaper alone than I already mentioned.

Got a Replacement Lady Vashj & another Foam Sword Rack card out of the one booster that I bought today.(I only buy one booster at a time, in different places, twice a week, so my addiction on these is only 2 a week.) :mrgreen:

Punched in the EPay site, to see if the FSR cards were still going fo about $80( I have 2 now), & I found a Merchant doing the Buy-It-Now for them, only $159.95.

This is better than Lottery Tickets!

Mmmm... Sounds cool! I'd seen them in the stores, of course, but had only looked at them casually. Anyway, I'll look into it. More miniature games are ALWAYS welcome! Although, I was thinking about getting into warhammer 40k. And on a side note for anyone else interested in other minis, D&D minis is a bit more affordable at $10.99 a booster for 3 minis. Look, nice too... Might pick some up for customs.

I can talk about this now, I have one in my hand. I picked up the basic starter kit, on eBay from a company called The Great Escape. I buy many things from the one in Bowling Green, KY, I have for years. They carry New & Used games & wargames; video games(all platforms); CDs, old records, posters, D&D, Magic the Game, toys, inncense, stickers, greeting cards, all the things old-school record stores used to carry.

They had the basic set listed as $9.99 + $4.90 Priority Mail Shipping, last week they put them on sale for $7.99 + $4.90 Priority Mail Shipping. I ordered one on Wednesday & received it in the mail today.:woot:

It only came from Nashville, which is an hour from me. I could have picked it up at the Nashville store, but Dad is too sick for me to get there, right now. It would have been $7.99 + Tennessee sales tax, if I picked it up at the store. $8.73 total price for the starter set, 4 figures, 6 Ubases, 6 dice, rulebook, double-sided map & their version of a heroscape poster, that has the Core set figures checklist on the back.

If anybody is interested, they still have at least 6 sets, listed on EPay at there site, the Great Escape Online, & I'm sure that for $12.89 total price, you can have one, if you don't already, in your hands in 3-5 days.

I'm not Spamming for the Great Escape, I'm posting this for people that don't have one yet, for a really affordable price, from a reputable dealer.
