I was out walking today and noticed a lot of cool looking dead branches and rocks, and thought "I couldn't make anything that looks that good." Therefore, I was wondering if anyone has experience in using real sticks and stones to make trees and rocks? I was reading about making driftwood, and thought if I soaked some cool looking branches for a month or so, I might make them suitable for painting and using on a board. Any thoughts?

Grishnak uses the rocks masterfully.

After a rainstorm, go out and pull up small seedlings that have sprouted this spring. (Don't feel bad, you're going to cut them down when you mow the grass anyway.) Pull them up carefully so that you have the root system. Dry, paint if desired and mount upside down with the roots becomeing the branches. You can top them with lichen if you want foliage. For the twisted look of bare battle blasted trees they can't be beat.

Thanks!! Half our back lawn is seedlings. Now I can put them to good use.
