I dunno if anyone on here watches the show "Fringe", but I'm pretty sure that director J.J.Abrams (director of LOST, Fringe and the new ST movie) snuck in a spoiler last night.
Clint Howard (Director Ron Howard's brother) had a Cameo on Fringe as a dellusional conspiracy theorist being questioned by the FBI for clues. During his rant, my wife and I are pretty sure he gave away the entire plot of the new ST movie within a 20 second spot. My wife and I just looked at each other like.. wait, what?
Side notes, Clint Howard once played an alien as a small boy in the Origial Star Trek episode "The Corbomite Maneuver". And so as soon as I saw Clint Howard in the show, knowing J.J Abrams penchent for viral, cryptic marketing I should have instantly knnew what was going on.
Anyway, any of you LOST fans, keep an eye out for some sneaky promotions on the show tonight. I wouldn't be suprised if Hurley slipped in some Trek-speak dropping a clue or two.
edit: whoops, Clint not Ron, also I just learned Clint was also in a few other more recent episodes.

Ron Howard was never in Star Trek - it was his brother Clint Howard (who Ron also sticks in all his movies).

Thanks yeah, that's who I meant (edited above). Not Ron, he was the Happy Days guy. I recognised him (Clint) right away. The funny thing is, he still looks the same.. just taller and plumper ;).

I'm keeping an eye on Fringe because of the ARG I've been following. I have this sneaking suspicion JJ's behind it. Well, Fringe is also a good show, but you know what I mean.

Which ARG? I followed the first few LOST ones for a while. :)

What's in the Box?
Start at this Youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IU_reTt7Hj4); there was a second version released later on at a gaming site, but I can't find it. A good ear can pick up sounds from Half-Life 2 (though these were probably used for convenience) and music from LOST and Jurassic Park. The creators of the video said it was just a project they did with 100 pounds for school, but nobody really buys a second of that. They foreshadowed the Box in a video they did for that Discovery channel contest a few years ago. Look at this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sIB2kL-BWc&feature=related) and you can see a red box with a question mark over it halfway through.
Then go to this blog (http://wikibruce.com/2009/04/a-big-box-of-babel-research/) for all the info we have so far. It's really, really interesting so far. Lots of references to the LOST ARG, though any direct links take you back to that old "dead" ARG. Lots of physics stuff, too, and a catacylism that happened on August 6th, probably whatever happened in the YT vid above. Whether that's set in the future or whatever, I don't know. It's mostly at a dead end for now, but I have a feeling that Aug. 6th we'll get more info, if just from whatever it's advertising getting released/airing/whatever.
EDIT: Forgot the Unfiction link (http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=27633&start=1305). That takes you to the last page I read; updating myself now.

Oh WOW.. that video is awesome. I noticed what I thought where both themes and actual sounds from HL2 and Lost.
My bet is that it's a REALLY well made fan ARG.
Also, after you told me about the ARG I did a search for Star Trek ARG. Lo and behold, a new one has recently started.. and it is crazy. It's not at all the sort of thing I'd expect because it's not like the LOST ARGs at all. It's all very "party scene" oriented using real life blogs of real life photographers that focus on LA nightlife and fashion. Not exactly my cup of tea but I'm waiting for it to get sci-fi. Actually.. it kind of reminds me of the Cloverfield ARG with a west coast twist.

YES! Leonard Nimoy now plays a central character on "Fringe" and the bond between my two favorite franchises (JJ Abrams and Star Trek) are further cemented.
