View Full Version : Griffin's Super HeroScape Maps

Platforms 5 and 6: Requires 1 RotV, 2 FotA, 1 Marvel.
This map has not been playtested yet, but it is designed for competitive game play for Marvel and C3G customs. I put battlements along both sides of the subway tunnel so that C3G's optional Knockback rules would have more likelihood of dealing damage.Link (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/downloads.php?do=file&id=2044)to the download

High Rise Ruin: requires 1 Rise of the Valkyrie and 1 Castle set
I built this map with the idea of having a competitive tournament worthy map that is tailored specifically to Super Hero types. The starting zone is a split level so you can have your very powerful fliers start in the air, that is mostly for a thematic feel really. However, there are ladders that allow for non-fliers to climb up or down and a conveniently placed river under the deck allowing them to dive down into the water safely.

El Passo: requires 2 Marvel Sets
I built this map to try and see what I could come up with just using 2 Marvel Sets. This map is a small skirmish style for friendly game play. I thought this map looked like a small town street with some old store fronts, and I like the idea of the Heroes and Villains fighting in a populated area, even though there wouldn't be many people living in this old town.

The 7 Maps below were rough drafts for the X-Men Master Set: Rise of the Mutants. Since the C3G cut the master set, and made it a wave instead, these concepts were pushed aside. I plan on finishing these as I find the time, and hopefully finish the entire campaign that these were designed for. Here also, is a map of that campaign.

El Passo is cool! It has a nice ghost town feel and I love how it squeezes in the middle to make a small map feel larger. Poor Cap and Red Skull on that map, though!

Cap and Red Skull can hide under or behind the ruins.

Great job on those maps, Griffin. It makes me want to spend some money on some terrain. :D

Very nice! I've seen some of these before, but I like the changes to the Sentinel Factory and I still think one of the saddest parts about going non-Master Set with the X-Men release is the loss of the Statue of Liberty map ... Oh well, we can still hit some scenarios down the line ... :-)

Thanks fellas, but I plan on doing these at some point with the scenario campaign concept Balantai was throwing around earlier.

First post is updated with a new map: Platforms 5 and 6.
This map needs to be play tested, but I am designing it for competitive 1 vs 1 game play.

I like the subway map you just put up! You need to do one similar to that with the SotM to be a sewer map ... you can imagine what the swamp would stand in for there ... :puke:

For some reason I couldn't download the subway map. Said Version Too Recent or something like that. Looks pretty cool in the picture though. :D

Haven't built it yet, but did you have any issues with the Statue of Liberty map being top-heavy?

Have you downloaded the latest version of Virtual Scape? I think that any maps built with Zzzz's latest version are not backwards compatible with older versions of Vertual Scape. I am gonna download a PDF printer tonight, but first I have some Books Of stuff to work on. :D

Yeah, it's not like I contributed any of these things to C3G or the Site:
Catwoman
Green Arrow
Mystique
Evasive Strike 15 (with Bats)
Several Glyphs
Story writing
tons of proof reading
well over a hundred games worth of playtesting and reporting
Man of Steel
All of the World's Finest scenarios and the Campaign
Star City Map
The only Resident Evil Customs on the site
The only high quality Aquilla template for making customs
Several art work on the NM24 cards
Fortress of Solitude
Grundy's Swamp
My personal cool maps
over a dozen Books Of threads
Over 400 of my own personal customs that I share privately
and much more!
If by chance I did do these things though, I wouldn't try and get noticed all the time for it, but then again, who doesn't like being appreciated? :p

Let me know how it goes. The only one out of those that I have built is the Statue of Liberty (which is broken without special rules unless everyone can fly or swing).
I still plan on finishing up that campaign - probably next year.

Yeah, if we'd done the C3G X-Men as a Master Set, as originally planned, this definitely would've been a scenario map for us.

Will do. All work and no play makes Griffin a dull boy. :)

Life the defend the castle scenario that came with the FOTA. That would be really cool. Just need some destructible objects in front of the building to add to the chaos. 8)

The original idea for Xavier's mansion was to have the Xmen kinda just relaxing and enjoying the day only - the brotherhood show up and attack (while trying to take cerebro from the castle) the Xmen off guard as they try to regroup and fight back.
IAmBatman
November 14th, 2010, 11:26 AM
Yeah, that scenario will work better once the Brotherhood is more filled out anyway, though.

In the downloads it says for Astroid M, that it takes:
2 Marvel
1 FotA
1 RotV
This is what I think it should be:
1 Marvel
2 FotA
1 RotV
Great Maps Griff

Wow. I never knew these were here. Love it when someone resurrects something like this. Beautiful.
My son has been getting into X-Men recently and would love these. So, what will it take to move these one step closer to casually available?
Here's a tease....

Seriously, I'd love to see these begin to take your original desired shape. I know you're swamped with a lot of projects, but if there is a way, I'd sure love to see it happen. (And would help, in any tiny way I can.)

I'm definitely willing to help you nut that one out, Griff. Especially if it's once we've got the rest of this year's stuff done and ideally most of next year's that's planned at this point.

Good idea. If we can get this year's work done, the Xxxxxxxxx pack done, and next year's stuff done by the end of year, let's just go for it. I really think we can, even if we start early next year, why not?

I think I should be done with July's stuff by the end of January or so (approximating based on my typical pace). At that point I plan to go heavy on Teen Titans, but should be able to work on this on the side as well.
