Well, this is the big one. 64 points if you still have both of your picks in play (which I do).

Go Nilfheim/Cyprien.

Man, I didn't realize I'd have to choose between Krug and Nilfheim. I hesitantly went with big daddy boss dragon.

I'm glad a Master Set figure made it to the championship round.

It's going to be a long weekend.

I'm glad a Master Set figure made it to the championship round. What Master Set figure?? Oh, you mean the guy from the Marro expansion set. Raelin had the best shot at representing the original set, but alas, her beauty could not sustain her.

Instead we have to look at Krug.

I was just speaking with Krug over breakfast and he wanted me to pass a message on to you guys.

"Krug am a simple troll. Krug like long walks in swamp, stepping on bunnies, and looking at funny pictures in The New Yorker. Krug always there for you when you need somebody knock down or wallet taken. Be there for Krug. I not ever try to kill you again. Promise."

Folks, how can you argue with THAT?

VOTE KRUG. He not ever try to kill you again.

Krug!

So, does that mean Krug gets a <RR>, because he would sweep this thing then :D.

To Gold1, read Jexik's sig (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showpost.php?p=810206&postcount=33)--that (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showpost.php?p=810206&postcount=33)is the best reason I know of to vote for Krug. He is truly a remarkable figure, nicely balanced--a true beast, but appropriately also only 120 pts. An unbelievable balance of playability, theme, and fun.

Got to vote for Krug!

Vote for Sonlen- 1) A cool sculpt. 2) He's the only one in the finals that can both hurt and heal with his special powers. 3) He has an awesome pet dragon. 4) He's the underdog.I know this is all in the realm of personal opinion, and by all means vote for your favorite, however you deem it to be. But..

1) There are FOUR cool sculpts here. The coolest looking of all the dragons, a red and black clad vampire with two swords, and a gruesome troll with a wicked double-pointed sword. Sonlen (although cool in his own right) is arguably the plainest of the bunch.

2) Cyprien can hurt twice and also heal himself (if he kills). Krug has two attacks (with the potential to be massive). Nilfheim has a strong attack and one of the best Special Attacks ever (4att, up to 3 targets).

3) Nilfheim IS an awesome dragon

4) The underdog is Dund, and he lost in round two.

Sonlen is neat/fun/cool. There are lots of neat/fun/cool figures. How he got this far I'll never know, but it does speak to the game's wide appeal that so many find him a figure worthy of being one of the best.

What a great game Heroscape is!!

Wow, this is tight. These 3-way ties are intense. All good units, for sure.

I'll admit that recently I have used Nilfheim more than any other, but my Krug memories are still the sweetness--the care in his build--to pack so much flavor into 120 pts., well, truly amazing. (If in doubt, read this: An ode to Krug, the greatest figure ever. Vote for him! (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showpost.php?p=810206&postcount=33))

Cyprien, for me, is just awesome. When I first got him, I enjoyed watching him tear through his enemies easily. The next game I played with him, he flew all over the place and allowed me to attack anything. That's really the only single thing (besides a lack of availibility of some packs) that I don't like about this game. Everyone doesn't have 8 move stealth flying!

Moving all over the place, and not having to lumber up to engagement was just so much fun for me. The fact that he could kill two figures in a turn, thus healing himself for two life points just made himself ever better. Cyprien is awesome, no doubt about it.

In the immortal words of Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction, "Allow me to retort." (In the spirit of good fun, of course!)

1) There are FOUR cool sculpts here. The coolest looking of all the dragons, a red and black clad vampire with two swords, and a gruesome troll with a wicked double-pointed sword. Sonlen (although cool in his own right) is arguably the plainest of the bunch.

Honesty compels me to put Nilfheim at the top of the sculpt coolness list, but I'd put Sonlen next. Forest cloak, chain mail, dragon... He's one of the few 'Scape elves that isn't odd-looking or just plain ugly.

2) Cyprien can hurt twice and also heal himself (if he kills). Krug has two attacks (with the potential to be massive). Nilfheim has a strong attack and one of the best Special Attacks ever (4att, up to 3 targets).

Sonlen can attack twice and heal himself or others. Win!

3) Nilfheim IS an awesome dragon

So... since Sonlen has a dragon, has two attacks, has the best healing, and is a cool sculpt, you're saying he incorporates what's great about all the rest? (Conveniently forgetting stealth flying and hoping no one notices...)

4) The underdog is Dund, and he lost in round two.

 :p

Sonlen!!!!!

Okay bad joke, but seriously I've done well with Nilfhiem, even though he always dies. Cypren is good but he's never done me justice. That leaves Krug. I've never had the pleasure of using him in battle. He does have a cool skulpt and I have seen what he can do in battle. That being said I hope you will all forgive me when I choose to vote for....................................

Personally I like Sonlen the best out of these three. The points have been made by others. He gets to do three things every turn. He has one of the best paint jobs in the game. He's fun! and it's all about fun. I picked Krug to win though because I know so many like him so much. I picked Sonlen for 2nd.

Now my personal favorite figures are Kaemon-awa and the Samuri archers. I usually tend to do fairly well with them and they all have great pain jobs and work well together. I didn't expect them to go any further than they did though. Also I'm not saying that Sonlen is the very best paint job in the game. I think the absolute best one is one that didn't make it far at all, SOTM Raelin (who I also like better than ROTV version)

Cyprien IMO sucks. There are alot of things to pick from for 150 points that I think are better than him. His paint job isn't very good. He dosn't fit any of my images of a vampire. Plus he's a wife beater.

I do like Nilly and had him picked 2nd to sonlen all the way to the finals, he would win just barely every single time, at the last minute. I figured all the dragon lovers woul rally around Sonlen though since you have the combination of Dragon and elf. Oh well, I did fairly well over all, but no prize for me

This really wasn't the right place for the question, and not the right place for the wrong answer, either. As soon as a figure goes onto the movement glyph, the rest of the figures moving that turn can benefit from the bonus.

Oh, and don't forget what makes Krug the beast he is--Wounded Smash. No one else in this has anything like that.

It is though interesting that all of these finalists are multitasking heroes, with multiple attacks, very unique specials/attacks, etc. If Raelin has made it in here, she would have been the exception. Kaemon, Braxas, and Q9 would have fit right in as well. We like the sculpts backed by remarkable powers and it seems particularly (no surprise really) powers that allow us to attack more than one figure in a turn.

All of that is just to say: WHAT? Krug is LOSING? By 1-2 votes! Come on last 5 Scapers that haven't voted: Read Jexik's sig (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showpost.php?p=810206&postcount=33), look this hulking beast in the eye, and think What Would Krug Do (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=20872)? :D

Just a quick reminder: in the next few games, Cyprien will be rolling 20's for Chilling Touch against all who didn't vote for him. That is all.

The first time I saw Nilfheim and Cyprien being played was in the same game. I had Nilfheim, and my opponent had Cyprien. The first attack of the game, and first ever Chilling Touch roll in our games, resulted in Cyprien rolling an unboosted 20, and having my Nilfheim frozen to the bone. Having my heavy-hitter dead, I was butchered shortly after.

Cyprien is a popular pick in our games, and rightly so. I hope he wins.

Well, ...as much as it pains me to say it, there was some disappointing jiggery-pokery involved in the Grand Championship poll.

There were a significant number of bogus votes cast in this poll using proxy accounts. A few fraudulent votes went to Krug and Nilfheim (1 each), but the remainder (and vast majority) of them were all for Cyprien. 3 hours worth of investigation and a dozen or so banned user-accounts later, the bogus votes have been removed and the polling results have been validated.

Without the support of his 'undead' hordes, Cyprien falls into his legitimate placing at third.

KRUG emerges as the triumphant Grand Champion, with Nilfheim in a fairly close second!!!

Thanx to everybody who voted and entered the contest! I'm glad you folks had fun celebrating our third birthday here in as HSers with me!

Results of the Final Scoring for those who entered and Winners of the UBR contest will be posted shortly in the main UBR thread!

Thanx for playing! Perhaps we'll do it again next year!!!

I am disappointed at the fraud by some of the people here, more deeply disappointed than I should feel, I suppose. I've thought this was a place above the muck. Ah, well; live and learn.I was disappaointed too, but mostly just because it happened at all, not because it tarnished the rep of anyone I knew. Really, as a closing note on the 'cheating' issue, I can honestly say that nobody who actually ENTERED the contest was responsible for any cheating (as far as I can tell).

As was mentioned a few weeks ago, we had some established members that were doing some 'vote drumming' with their friends, but that really had a minimal impact, only changing the final outcome of ONE of the 39 polls. ...minimal.

The double-fistful of 'fraud' votes that piled into the Final Battle were easily caught and dealt with. They were all numerous votes from identical IP addresses, belonging to accounts that could easily be identified as bogus. Oddly, those IPs are all geographically unique enough that I'm relatively certain they DIDN'T come from contest entrants. If it WAS contest entrants that were jinking there at the end, they went to GREAT LENGTHS to cover their tracks and hide any connections to their 'real' accounts. Considering how easy it was to catch the fakes (and taking into account the calibre of our membership here at HSers.com), I just don't think that was the case.

Perhaps I'm being naive, but I honestly think it was just a couple of isolated pranksters who thought it would be funny to jerk with the polling results, and they got perma-banned for their troubles. I'm happy to leave it at that, without scuff or tarnish on the 'moral fiber' of our community as a whole.

Overall, ...it could've been much worst, and it wasn't. By all means, we should NOT let it end the contest on a low note. On the whole, everybody who entered and voted performed admirably, and should be commended for their exceptional sportsmanship.

^_^

Maybe Krug should lock these threads. He was elected, afterall. I'm with BurnyFlame-- Krug's either a slacker or just plain old corrupt...Without a doubt, Krug is as corrupt as they come. Krug confirmed this himself when asked by a Valhalla times reporter. Then Krug pounded the reporter into hamburger and fed him to the Marrden Hounds.

The morale of this story: Don't call Krug a slacker.
