This poll was difficult for me, because all the figures in it do not astound me in any way. However, Sgt. Drake received my vote because he was a good figure when I only had the master set. Times have changed when you have at least one of everything in your collection!

ugh, bad start. Come on guys, the tan gladiator and the guy on the flying horse!

ha, ha, corrected!

I saw the results and was like, "Ah! I'm that wrong so far?" lol

I voted for 7000, and I just noticed that there are actually more votes for him than Retiarius. Wow!

Just wondering if Charlie's Angels win, would people buy up all the remaining stock clogging the shelves and get new stock in the stores?

Tough bracket full of mid level units.

Drake was a close 3rd for my pick, but Nakitas is a truely helpful squad; they made Gorillinators (a fun sculpt) more viable and help ALL you figures they are adjacent too (not to mention engagement strike).

The two main reasons I picked Uglinesh over Drake were:
1. He's like the leader of the Elf Wizard Force. Gotta give it up for theme.
2. SotM Drake will be advancing later.

Love this Tournament!!!

I chose who I thought everyone would vote for, then voted for who I wanted; three different figs involved. Of course, Eldgrim is pretty useful. He's a nice filler, not to mention it's neat to have Gimli in your army ;)

~Myst9, thinking of how Gimli overextended himself at the beginning of the second movie.

Nakitas were an easy and clear choice for me--they are just so much fun to play and I love the G-nators (faults and all).

Beyond the Women in White, there is no clear choice for me. Drake has so much nostalgia, Eldgrim is one of the best sculpts and truly shines in many situations, 7000 is original and fun, Ulginesh opened up a whole new style of army, and Retarius is so, well, orange :). Seriously, he is a lot of fun to play.

People are probably still trying to pronounce his name.

I voted for Eldgrim, because he's the one from the list that I play the most. He's a great example of how a cheap filler unit should be designed. He bonds, so you never spend an order marker on him. And he's useful when he's dead. Nice!

Sgt. Drake has been the iconic figure since the inception of this game.
C'mon guys, let's give him his credit!!!! :D

Isn't Sgt. Drake named after somebody's kid? In the storyline he is the main hero in heroscape. You've got to go Drake!

Two designers' children, I believe. (Here is a related thread (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=6156), worth a look, perhaps.)

Drake. Grappling hook is neat enough. His attack is one of the best in the game. And Thorian Speed, what a cool power!! He's the original anti-Krav. Although a lot of Special Power units have come out, there is still a lot of use for a guy with a big sword who you can't shoot.

Retiarius is actually a fine character. I've netted hundreds of baddies with him. But he's not my first choice... or my second.

Question:
Should a person automatically vote for their first choice?

Answer:
No. What if you're first choice is a shoe-in and your second choice is lagging behind? Or... Maybe you should vote for your acutal favorite.

Wrong! I don't know if this should be considered a fault in the software but polls are only blind if you're logged in. If you're not logged in the board software flags you as cannot vote, which is the same status as has already voted, so you are shown the current state of the poll.

Uhg.. I can't stand the Agents. Too expensive in game and for like 4 years they were the ONLY figure I could find in the store.

down with the agents. I need MORE expansions than agents and gladiators!

See, to me "Battle Royale" means pitting the units against each other, rather than considering overall versatility.

Therefore, bottom line, Ulginesh with a height advantage of 5000 still needs to face Drake's 6 Attack to have a prayer in taking him down. The Nakita's might even get in 3 free hits . . . but they won't get in 5.

Drake for the win.

You know, I voted all wrong i think. It seems the majority of people are going to be voting on power type thoughts. I included all sorts of stuff in my decisions.. like the fact that Nakitas are in bed with gladiators.. and I dislike gladiators so much it rubs off on them. :)

I don't think its possible to vote wrong in this game. Everybody if voting for their favorite/best character. It's an opinion game. Your opinion counts. I hope you do well, Dr. Ransom.

2 for 2 so far! 8)

Here were my thoughts on this group:

Nakita Agents: The best tournament unit in this group, with three - okay, two and icing - great abilities. However, they suffer from horrible sculpts/paint jobs and shelf-clogging. #2 pick.

Sgt. Drake Alexander (RotV): The oldest unit here, he's got nostalgia, a 'cool' factor, and pretty decent power level going for him. All positives. #1 pick.

Eldgrim the Viking Champion: I've always liked this guy, but I know some people wish he was a dwarf (I wouldn't mind, as long as he would then get to bond with some dwarves at some point). He's popular, but not THAT popular, IMO. I'd've put him at #3.

Retiarius: Sucks. Plain and simple. #6.

Ulginesh: The centerpiece to cool elf armies, he just doesn't make them quite cut it competitively. He does fly a manly horse, but his name is just ulgy - er, ugly. #4.

Deathwalker 7000: Actually a pretty cool unit, IMO, but suffers from 'Deatwalker syndrome' and relatively low power level. #5.

Sgt. Drake Alexander (RotV)
Nakita Agents
Eldgrim the Viking Champion
Ulginesh
Deathwalker 7000
Retiarius

My love of the Nakitas affected my vision. I had them #1 and Drake #2 (I thought Drake (SotM) might divide the Drake love a bit). I knew Eldgrim would do well; I'm a bit surprised to see Ulgy tie him.

Oh, well, I'm glad to see I at least had the right top two units (this time anyway...).

The warriors appeared on the battlefield, summoned by the Kyrie Generals. It took them a moment to get their bearings. When they surveyed their surroundings it was clear that they were meant to fight.

Already, the robot was on the move. With quick metal footfalls it propelled itself toward the gladiator. Sensing its approach, Retiarius crouched into his fighting stance. With practiced precision he side-stepped the oncoming machine and flung his metal net around the Deathwalker, tightening it in his grip. Retiarius raised his trident.

There was a sudden flash of light followed by a deafening boom as the robot and gladiator were consumed in an enormous ball of fire.

Eldgrim lifted his head from behind the protection of his shield. Ulginesh, the elf wizard, had just mounted his winged steed, unaware of the nearby Viking. Eldgrim sprang forward swinging madly, but missed as the Pegasus took flight. There, behind where the horse just stood, was Sgt. Drake Alexander, grim faced and stoic. Eldgrim’s frantic pace drove him forward, his axe uplifted, screaming a war cry. A sickening metallic crunching sound filled the air. Eldgrim fell to the ground. His shield, in two pieces, fell beside him.

From the air, Ulginesh spiraled around a small hill, where three figures in white stood gazing up. The elf lowered his staff, preparing to send a blast of magical energy down upon the figures. Yet his eyes could not focus on their target. It seemed a cloud had descended upon the hill and obscured his vision. Shots rang out, the horse whinnied in pain, dipped, and plunged.

Drake clutched his sword, preparing to launch himself up the hill with his grappling hook, when the world began spinning wildly. He was being summoned away…again.
