Has anybody been reading this prequel comic to the upcoming movie. Everytime I go to my local comic shop he is always sold out. Supposedly it has some Next Gen characters in it that are rumored to be in the movie too.

As Spock would say...that is highly illogical...since Next Generation takes place 70 years after the voyages of the original Starship Enterprise and the movie is about the coming together of the original crew.

So is this new star trek movie a REBOOT and stand alone movie, sort of like all the different bat man movies? or is it part of all the other movies and tv shows? -- the preview I saw felt like a reboot...

It is a reboot from when the original Enterprise team was brought together.

Actually in the comic there are next Gen characters.

It is not a reboot in the traditional sense.

All I will say is that history is permanently altered, which is why this "Star Trek" universe will not be identical (and thus shut up people saying they changed things) to the one we know. Also, there will be one returning cast member from a previous Star Trek in the movie.

That would be Leonard Nimoy playing Old Spock in the new movie.

Yep, just not wanting to give out more info to those that didn't want it. I could have gone into much more detail, sadly :)

What? Continuity issues in Star Trek?

Who would have thought.... ;)

I've heard rumors there are Next Gen characters in the movie too. But no details on who. Again, it is just rumors.

Edit: I've also heard rumors Spock goes back in time via the portal thingy from the Original Series episode City on the Edge of Tomorrow.

There are no next gen in the movie - that is confirmed, but they are in the prequel comic. I have no idea how Spock goes back and honestly don't want to know much more that I already do. Ruins the surprise (if there is any unrevealed ones that is).
