View Full Version : A custom I have in mind...

So I'm at Wal-Mart the other day walking around and I see a pack of Star Wars miniature figures, and the pack contained 4 Wookiee warriors. To show you what a geek I am, my first thought was, "Man, that would make an awesome Heroscape squad."
I then started thinking about any special abilities and stats for them. What I'd like to do is run off my list of stats, and try to get some feedback as to what point value they should be.
Life: 1
Move: 5
Range: 6
Attack: 3
Defense:2
Tree Camouflage: Wookiees cannot be targeted by range attacked when adjacent to trees.
Life Debt Protection: When a Wookiee is adjacent to any hero, that hero gains +2 defense (all elevation rules apply)
It's Not Wise to Upset a Wookiee: For every wookiee warrior that dies, give +1 attack to all other Wookiees.
So, what point value would that be? Is there a program to calculate point values? I'm just looking for help...
NOTE: I changed "Wookiee Strength" to "It's Not Wise to Upset a Wookiee" just to keep with the Star Wars theme.

Not sure on the point value off-hand but it looks like a fun squad. I especially like the Camouflage and Protection. I have abilities similar to both in the works. Only my Arboral Camouflage only requires attackers to be within 4 clear sight spaces instead of adjacent.
Also my Guard of Steel ability is similar to your Life Debt Protection but it requires the player to choose a hero at the start of the game. I think it might be a good idea for your squad as well: the protection would only be conferred to the chosen hero since the Wookies would only protect the one hero they have a debt to.
Finally you may want to increase the stats of the Wookies a little bit. When I think of Wookies I think of very strong warriors so 3 attack and 2 defense may be a little low. If you do increase the defense you could probably remove the Wookies' Strength ability since high defense probably better matches the Wookies strong constitution.

Thanks, Rhydderch.
I got rid of Wookiee Strength, you can see the update.
I would think maybe 4 or 5 defense. My first thought was similiar to the Dzu-Teh and glacial traverse. I was going to give the Wookiees forest traverse, but I decided against it.

I kind of see this as a cross between MacDirks and Dzu Teh. They are 80 and 75 points. Maybe up the points due to the defensive enhancement as well. Maybe a 100 point squad?

Hi Darconus
nice idea, i like the abilities of this squad =) Playtesting is always the best way to find out, but reading the stats i think the wookies are worth more than 100 points.
The last two wookies attack with 5 and the last one with 6 that is very strong for a squad figure with range. It's really not Wise to Upset a Wookiee :) I would give them a basic attack of 2
Life dept protection: i would give the bonus to human heroes only, there are quite a bunch of them in the game and i think it would keep better with the theme. If three wookies adjacent to a hero, does he get +6? I would calrify this in the wording, i would suggest that this bonus doesn´t sum up...
With these changes imo this squad with range should still be worth 100 points.
Bye, Chicano.

sorry, I forgot to clarify that bit. The +2 defense for a hero only counts once. So all 4 wookiees could be around someone and that hero only gets +2. The reason I didn't specify a human hero is because, in my reading of Star Wars, a wookiee life debt can be given to anyone, not just humans.
