Me and my friends want to use a heroscape battle for mechwarrior. The heroscape battle fields are a lot cooler and nicer. Has anyone done this already? If so please share your rules and ideas on this.
Thanks

I simply make
sand=rough
swamp=light woods
mountain=heavy woods
water=1 deep
ice=2 deep
elevation in two level bricks (three would look netter if you have the terrain).
~Aldin, who notes that it also needs BIG maps

They were doing this at GenCon but I didn't see how they assigned the tiles, but Aldin's way looks good.

We also used trees and things to designate impassable terrain (forest so thick you couldn't go through it, for example).
I don't remember what the rules were for laying waste to such features, but as I recall flamers were particularly handy... though you had to spend the time. And, in a pitched battle, that isn't usually possible.
I have three master sets, and that seems to be enough to make some pretty cool maps. I would recommend some kind of base mat, though, like the ones House Mouse makes or perhaps something of your own. I have a big rollup sheet of blue felt I used as a base, and it represented deep deep deep deep water.
