Editing cards in HCC

Is there any way to take a BMP (or other image) of a card and convert it so that you can edit it in HCC?

Open it with another program like paint or gimp. Then open the file, and hit save as... change the bmp to jpeg (or whatever you want)

You will also want to resize the pic if it isn't already the right size. The average size of the ready made templates is around 739x706. It varies a little but that should work.
