Favorite squad sculpt 17: Blastatrons

I'd love to put a 'all of them' option on this poll, but no way. You need to choose one of these awesome figures as your favorite. What else can I say? I really like all of the Blastatrons. My favorite is the first one.

Oh one more thing. I think the multi-barreled weapons can be rationalized: for each Gladiatron surrounding a single-hexed figure, a barreled is fired. For example 2 gladiatrons cyberclawing a sucker results in three of the barrels firing off (one for the target and two additional for each gladiatron who've locked up the victim). It's cheesy rationalizing, but fun nonetheless.


1) Hunkered down and ready to fire with some serious Homing Device beeping crazy-like on the side of his weapon! His pose is also the easiest to identify out of the four. The other three look very similar in their pose. When I grab them out of my figure containers, I can always identify him the quickest.

2) This guy is great when placed behind the castle battlements with his gun poking out. His leg mechanisms are of a different design then the others and the same as some of the Gladiatrons, IIRC. His exposed neck wires are more visible than the others.

3) This guy is really nicely done too. I like how his helment contours with his shoulderpads.

4) He has a great pose with his hand open. As if he's saying (in my best Berserk-robot voice), "Whatcha gonna do, sucka? You're surrounded by Gladiatrons. Here comes the hurt!"

I went with number 2. They all have great poses, but #2 has that "Fast Shot" look going for em.

I like me some number 4. A menacing, while at the same time confident, pose. But you're right, all of these are good sculpts. A nice compliment to the Gladiatrons.

I love the way he looks like he's screaming at you. The head jutted forward like that.

Number 1, he is the only different one. We kept confusing the blastatrons and gladiatrons during movement the other night. We need new glasses I think.

I went with number 4. He looks like a cross between Silver Age Iron Man and a Cylon.

I noticed this too. He must be the sprinter in the group - his helmet is aerodynamic

Number 3 is my favorite. I love the way his helmet is shaped and his head is hunkered down and jutting forward sort of. This, along with his bigger shoulder pads, make him look a little bulkier then the other Blastatrons. He looks like he is about to bust some skulls.

And I agree, these are some very cool looking figures. I remember seeing the pics of them at Gen Con last year and was under whelmed to say the elast. But now that I have them and see them close up they really look nice.

I voted #4, I like his pose the best. 3 isn't far behind, with 2 and 1 in that (extremely close) order. My one biggest gribe with #4 is that his right hand isn't painted. It's the only one that isn't obvious to see holding the gun.

Yeah! I think just one of the Gorillanators has the same style firearm. I noticed the Blastatrons' weapons seem to have like a housing for their actual arm to slip into. Neat design. When I first saw these guys unopened in their package I thought they had gun arms. Upon opening them up, I realized they have regular hands and are holding guns.

I like #2 the best. What can I say, I'm a sucker for the action shots. Plus he kind of reminds me of Predator for some reason... ¬_¬ And they are all very nice figs. :thumbsup:
