You keep control of the figure for that game, but after the game you should give the figure back to its original owner. You wouldnt want your ninja's mindshackled and never returned would you?

It took longer for theats to click multiple buttons, type out his question, and impose on other people, having to wait for a reply, instead of simply picking up the MS card in question and reading it.

(Indolence is a synonym for lazy)
using HSers as a resource for learning the game and figuring out not-obvious stuff is one thing -
using the members here to substitute for your laziness of not even reading the card in question is another.

Alright, now I think that post was pointless, inappropriate and basically reflects that you are quite immature.
I think, that while reaper can tend to be quite acerbic, that he and NS both had a good point. It's not like it's not clear on the NGS card. My 7 year old son can read it and understand it, so I think it is pretty clear.
Asking questions that are clearly answered on either the cards or in the rules is a little pointless in my humble opinion.
just my 2¢

I'm on your side threats, as I am someone who just about blows up from rage everytime someone dodges a question by saying "read the card" or "google it." Either answer the man or don't....no need to get snarky about it.
If you don't want to answer the question or are annoyed by it, don't post in this thread....simple as that.

*sigh* Once again, the elitist attitude of the "old timers" rears it's ugly head.
Yes, the card is quite clear on the matter, but is that justification for burning someone to the ground? If you didn't want to help his question, why bother commenting on it? Some of us here don't MIND helping people out, even when the question is obvious.
I personally don't think NS was being "cold" per-se, just direct. (I don't know him personally, but I've learned from a past misunderstanding with him (via my own lack of communication with him to resolve the issue when I should have) that he's NOT a jerk, just direct and blunt).
However, this community seems to still lack what it's always lacked - a truly welcoming atmosphere to newcomers.

WRONG!! I strongly disagree. You will always find many people welcome others to this site. Please don't make blanket statements due to a few situations.

LilNewbie - I'm not saying EVERYONE is like that, but the atmosphere in general hasn't changed. Disagree with the old guard, and you get flamed to a crisp (for the most part).
It's not a "few situations" either - it's fairly common for certain members of the "old timers" to be like this. Not all, but some. And that doesn't make them "jerks" or "idiots", just less welcoming than I personally expect (perhaps foolishly) on a forum for a game marketed for kids, yet still played by many adults. That's all I'm sayin'. And I still think this forum is one of the least welcoming forums I frequent.

Hey, I know :) I specifically tried to say that YOU weren't what I was referring to :) It's the later discussion (by other people) that I'm referring to :)
Direct or not, I think "a little smiley goes a long way" in the matter, so while your initial post was blunt and direct, it did have the "smiley" to indicate it more as a friendly remark, and as such it's not really what I meant to refer to :) Sorry if it came across that way.

1) theats is not a newcomer.
2) He posted a new thread for a question that is easily answerable on the card.
3) You obviously don't care about a needless thread.
I DO - and here's why - because every single thread that is posted by someone being by his own admission lazy, causes either read the thread (wasting their time) or look past the thread and move to the next page to get to the threads that interest them.
It causes forum scroll, which is a known problem on forums.
Just because some people know these forum principles and chose to try to teach others it, doesn;t mean the community isn't welcoming. On the contrary, it means we are concerned with other members' not wasting time having to click on or look past threads that shouldn;t have been posted.
So don't misrepresent that he was "burned to the ground" - quite the contrary - he was simply called to the carpet for doing something that he admitted was lazy, and effected every member of this board in a tiny wasting-time way, either by looking past the thread to what they wanted to read (i.e. something useful) or by answering the question that is listed on the card.

1) Maybe not; I've never seen him here before.
2) That is irrelevant. Polite behavior should not depend on the "obvious" nature of the question.
3) That is your opinion, not mine. I don't care, and I don't think it is "needless". What you are saying is if the question isn't important to you, it's not important at all. That's the attitude I'm referring to.
What I'm referring to is the attitude of "you are welcome here, but only if you do everything I tell you to". Which is the same as saying "you're not welcome here, really, but we'll humor you when it suits us".
"Called to the carpet" seems to be the same thing as insulting, degrading, and bashing someone to me. Sugar coating it doesn't change that fact - it's insulting behavior toward the person you are "calling out".

Follow up on #3:
RE "wasting time" - Frankly, if you are spending your time reading forums for a game anyway, you are probably "wasting your time" anyway. Maybe doing it to kill time, or because you enjoy spending your time that way, but when it comes down to it, forum browsing really isn't that productive in the first place, regardless of the relevance of the post, unless you are looking for something SPECIFIC.
RE "forum scrolling" - Only a "problem" if you perceive it as such. The forum will scroll regardless. That doesn't give license to be impolite towards someone asking a question, obvious or not.
To each his own. You CHOSE to read the post, you CHOSE to waste time responding to it, so you didn't help either of the two issues, but rather just made them self-fulfilling.
Had Netherspirit's response been the end of it (like it probably should have been), the thread would probably be gone by now, or close to it.
