My VirtualScape Error

(No Shadows / No Photo Mode)

HELP! I've never been able to get the shadows or the photo mode to work correctly in VirtualScape. As you can see from the screen-shots above. When I turn on the shadows the entire map goes uniformly dark. If I then click the photo button, after a lot of thinking, my computer spits out a black silhouette of the map with brightly colored start zones.

I'm using VirtualScape v1.062 on an Acer Aspire T690 running Windows Vista Home Premium. I've posted all of the details below. If anyone can help me get them working I would really appreciate it.

Hmmm. My Acer laptop, which also has an Intel integrated video chipset, does the same thing. Two hours later, I am still unable to find a solution.

There is a video BIOS update available from Intel, but apparently, it can only be packaged in a system BIOS update from Acer.

EDIT: Neither of the video chipsets in question support Hardware Vertex Shading, which I suspect is probably the issue here.

Hmmm. My Acer laptop, which also has an Intel integrated video chipset, does the same thing. Two hours later, I am still unable to find a solution.

At least I don't feel so alone in this. Anything you can suggest, TOG, I'll try. You've been very helpful.

I've had the same problem on my laptop. Tried updating everything I could and still couldn't get shadow rendering to work. I'll keep an eye on this thread...

Hey, no problem, Zzzzz. Father of three myself. I just figured I'd give a shout out for help here too; couldn't hurt. TOG have been very helpful so far but it looks like I might need to update my video card to something that is more compatable with OpenGL. Oh, how I wish it's just a driver issue though... If you find anything please let me know. I've found I'm not the only one with this problem.
