Captain Ike "Hardtack" Hurley earned his nickname because of his toughness and no nonsense approach to leadership. Hardtack believed that a soldier should never be asked to do anything that he would not do himself, and often took to the front lines ahead of his men. This trait inspired his men and earned him their undying respect. Hardtack's famed toughness led his subordinates to say that it took a lot more than a bullet to stop him.

I have no figure and I have no idea what I would use. It is intended to be a cloudlike alien. I started with the idea that it would push away anyone that comes in contact with it.
http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n89/padwhite/HeroScape/WhispaSentinals.jpg
They have no hitzone, so they cannot be attacked by any ranged unit. How do I need to say that on the card, or do I have to? There isn't much space left on the card.
------------------------------
Here is a new card I made. I was looking for a human biker, but all I could find was this werewolf biker that I though was cool, so I used it instead. Unfortunately, the figure is 28mm. That would be too small for HS, right?
http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n89/padwhite/HeroScape/Skullsblackbone.jpg
I have done no playtesting, and all suggestions were welcome.
------------------------------
These are only ideas, as I don't have any cards made, and haven't seen any miniatures that I like. Some of these ideas may be similar to some that others have already made. If so, sorry, not trying to steal anybody's ideas. All thoughts and criticisms are welcome.
Hags
Pts: 90
Ullar
Human
Common Squad
3 figures
Class: Witches
Personality: Tricky
Size: Small
Height: 3
Life: 1
Move: 4
Range: 7
Attack: 3
Defense: 1
Lightning Strike Special Attack: Range 7 Attack 8 - Three Hags, on the same level, may combine their attacks to strike at one unit. All Hags must have clear line of sight on the one target. Lightning Strike Special Attack does not affect Soulborgs.
Firecats
Pts: 75
Ullar
Firecats
Common Squad
3 figures
Class: Beast
Personality: Wild
Size Small
Height: 2
Life: 1
Move: 7
Range: 1
Attack: 2
Defense: 2
SINGE: At the end of the Firecat's turn, each figure adjacent to a firecat rolls normal defense dice separately for each adjacent Firecat. For each defense roll, if no sheilds are rolled, the figure recieves one wound. Units with Lava resistance are not affected by Singe.
LAVE RESISTANT: Firecats never roll for molten lava damage and they do not have to stop on molten lava spaces.
I'll start with those two. I see the figures for the hags being little hunched over women, preferrably pointing wands or crooked old fingers.
The firecats are fairly obvious. Little, red (or orange) cats, with some sort of firey look to them.
I'll post some more ideas if anyone thinks these are worthwhile. :)[/img]

both of the unit's special abilities fall prey to the Deathwalker Glass Jaw effect - they will likely kill even DW9000 in one turn, for only 90 and 75 points.

Ah, yes, excellent point. Should soulbourgs be immune? After all, they are made of metal.

Definately worthwhile.
Hags - Lightning Strike SA has a couple of problems. First, when combining attacks for a squad, all figs need to be on the same level because even though you don't need to know height advantage (special attack), the defender does. Which squad member do you use? Second and last, with only one hag needing line of sight, you can hide 2 behind an obstacle thus exposing only 1 fig to danger. Since they are a common squad and have a range of 7, when one gets killed you can just bring up another one. 8 attack seems like a lot for a range of 7. Of course, with a height of 3 and move of 4, they aren't very mobile.
Firecats - There are 2 different sets of dice to use (white and red/blue) so, you might want to put in that any skulls rolled count as blanks. (3 sets when the Standard Bearers come out.) Also, these guys can only climb 1 level at a time. Might want to give them a climbing ability too (like the Deathreavers).

Ah, yes, excellent point. Should soulbourgs be immune? After all, they are made of metal.Well, thematically, I'd think lightning would fry robots just fine, but some people might think the opposite.
From a gameplay requirement, though, it's unfortunate that customs designers always have to keep the DW's glass jaw effect in mind when making custom abilities. :(
Trust me, it's a pain.
And since there are so many smaller, common Spulborgs now, I'm changing my abilities to say "non-Deathwalker figure" instead of "non-Soulborg figure" because I don't want the Blast/Gladiatrons or Deathreaver/stalkers to be immune, too.
BTW - ChaosChild - I haven;t seen that reason that the Roman Archers have to be on the same level ever mentioned before.
Maybe I missed it, but that makes perfect sense. I hadn't thought of it that way, and I know many people have proposed that the same level restriction be removed for them. Even adjacency.
You have a keen understanding of the game.

Ok, added in the part about Soulborgs. Should the Hags be a unique squad? That way you couldn't just keep plugging in more. With only two of them, they aren't that great a unit.

Good stuff, Padwhite!
Hags can be balanced out a bit by giving them a natural range of 1. Attacking from range would require 3 of them to be alive and adjacent on the same level as Chaos Child pointed out.
For the Firecat's Singe why not have the defending figure roll normal defense dice? That way the high defense/low life figs won't become too weak (along with DWs, Minions come to mind) and you could cut down on their cost. Their power will be in swarming...causing one opposing fig to make multiple defense rolls.

I really like the idea of using regular defense dice. I'm having trouble figuring out how to word it though. Little help here! :?

SINGE
At the end of the Firecat's turn, all figures (without the Lava Resistant ability) adjacent to a Firecat roll normal defense dice separately. If all blanks are rolled, the figure receives one wound. Each figure rolls defense in this way for each adjacent Firecat.
Could use a little tweaking.

How's this:
SINGE: At the end of the Firecat's turn, every unit adjacent to a firecat rolls normal defense dice separately for each adjacent Firecat. If no sheilds are rolled, the unit recieves one wound. Units with Lava resistance are not affected by Singe.
I think it could be fun with a bunch of these little buggers running around. Especially against commons. Of course, with my luck, I'll always roll blanks when defending against them.
I liked the idea of having another unit to work with the lava fields. It's so limited now.

Your wording is a lot better, but I added "for each defense roll" since it could have been interpreted with the defender having a better chance to defend with more Firecat's adjacent. Plus I just like saying each figure rather than unit...but that's just me :D

I finally managed to make a card for one of the ideas that I've had for a custom for some time. I used paint.net to create the card, and I think it came out pretty well.
The card image is in the first post.

Another new one today. I wanted to have a different species of alien. The concept is an energy being. Whenever a unit comes into contact with it, it repulses them with an energy blast. They can't be attacked from range (hey, arrows just go through them), so you have to get adjacent to them.
Card in first post.

I have updated Corporal Booth, and here is a picture I took of it in action tonight. My son and I played two games, and he seemed to work pretty well. Pretty powerful, but not too hard to take out.

For Corporal Booth I suggest moving his attack up to 5,take away his special power and add something like this
Bazooka-when Corporal Booth attacks a figure all figures adjacent to the attacked figure are affected.

Whispa Sentinals-not much to change here except i would bump their movement up to 6,change their personality to tricky, and move their points up to 70.

Skulls Blackbone-take his move down to 7,and his points down to 105.

Thanks! I really like the way he came out. We played another game with hime (this time with more points). He seems to play pretty well. The 4 point attack is about right. I had some great rolls. Wiped out an entire squad of zombies with one attack. He then went down quickly though.

Hey, I've been busy! Another one. This is just a slightly modified AE. I took the arm from one of the others, and made a pistol out of bits and pieces. I really like the way it came out.

Ok, here's one I made just because I though the idea was cool. I have no idea how to handle it though. I call them the Marro Siege Warriors, but there is no unit that has more than one figure. How many lives? The idea is that they are carrying a battering ram. I thought they would be great for attacking the door. Should they be large by taking them all as a single unit?

We played a big game tonight, and I used both Corporal Booth, and "Hardtack" in a big soldier army. Hardtack adds a lot to a soldier army. He even ended up being the last one standing, and took out the last few nagrubs to win the game. Both seem to be ok points-wise to me, but I really wish someone else would give them a try.

Here's my newest mod of an Airborne elite
http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n89/padwhite/HeroScape/PrivateCain.jpg
He just has the arm that was swapped out with the other one to make Captain Hurley. Double attack was an obvious one, but I just thought that he looked like he should be angry. I just see him jumping out of a foxhole and attacking when one of his friends dies, with no regard for his own safety.

Thought of this while watching the Venture Brothers the other night, and couldn't resist. Just for fun.
Cards in first post.
I like the idea of the boys running around the map every time someone dies "looking for clues", and Brock having to chase after them. It is probably impractical as an actual working set of cards, but that wasn't really the point.

Fairy speed is kind of unnecessary on Vixelle as you've left her hit zone completely gray and could instead be worked into the fairy disguise power. Also, does the Fairy Disguise ever expire? And can you use it on anyone (common/unique, hero/squad, small, medium, large, huge?) I can imagine WoA and Monks being made completely awesome if they can't be shot...
