View Full Version : Wave 2 reprint limited?

Sandra had mentioned that what she was getting for Wave 2 was not as big as she had originally hoped, and had hinted that after it sells, she may not be able to get more. Other vendors have suggested that they had a hard time getting any at all, which along with the apparent lacking support from WOTC has me wondering if the re-release of Wave 2 may not last long.
My dilemma is that I was hoping to purchase my supply of Wave 2 after Christmas, as I really couldn't justify spending this money on myself before the holidays. However, the worry of not being able to find wave 2 after Christmas has me worried as well.

What do you guys thinks, will there still be wave 2 to be found in a couple months? I mean, there's no trouble finding wave 8. Is wave 2 going to be released in similar amounts in your opinions?

Thanks for any replies.

Well from what I've seen, I would think that they would reprint wave 2 like they did Wave 7 last year. Meaning that it will be available for a while but I can also see them cutting reprint production down with the cost and uncertainty of selling heroscape involved.

Also allot less stores to stock now with target/ToysRus out of the picture. I'm in the same boat though, Xmas and the holidays has me drained of all my spare cash and I hate asking for HS when everyone knows i'll just get it myself anyways.

Grr... so many boardgames I want this Xmas too!!! lol Anyone have any Catan games they'd like to give to a desperate guy?

Maybe there's a limited amount becasue Walmart wanted it all... who knows.

Fortunately for me I have the luxury of waiting to see if big blue gets any Wave 2 or if it's just the FLGS getting them as I have what I need already, but not close to what I want.

I thought Sandra said that she wasn't getting as much as hoped, but that was before she recieved shipment. Afterwards she dropped the price of the price on some of the packs, like she had plenty. Best bet would be to ask House Mouse if they ended up getting very much. I feel like this could indeed be a small re-print, Wizards doesn't want to invest more than they have to in Heroscape at the moment it seems. Maybe somebody else has a clearer answer for you, these are just my thoughts.

You're right TSIYW, Sandra did say she ended up with the full order as opposed to the partial she was told they were getting.

And Len from WGHQ posted here saying that he was re-ordering, since his original order went so fast. That implies that more is available.

Even if the primary market sells out, the prices on the secondary market will drop sharply for a while.

Here's the first and only rule of Heroscape buying:

If you see something you want for a decent price, buy it. You probably won't get a better deal for months.

I'm still kicking myself about the Gladiatrons I didn't buy at TRU last fall. I've got 2 squads of B-trons and 0 squads of G-trons, because I figured that I'd see them again.

A bit of clarification: HOUSE MOUSE got its full order as planned. We always buy in large quantities because we try to stay in stock on as much product as possible to provide you a huge selection and a "one-stop shopping experience". We strive to stay in stock long after the products are no longer available from the WotC warehouse.

We have enough sets to take us through the Xmas holiday. BUT...as sets become scarce, prices do increase (carrying extra inventory to stay in stock is expensive!). So don't panic if you can't purchase before Xmas, but buy as soon as you can to avoid any price increases.

That is very true, the same thing happened to me last fall in a bit of a different situation. I ordered a pack of elves/gladiatrons for $10 and it was the first booster pack I ever opened after having owned the master set for a year. While opening it I accidentally put a little tear in both the cards, and considered ordering getting a second pack just for the mint cards. I didn't though, cause I thought When am I ever going to need more than one squad of something?. This was before I new about commons usage in multiples. I also missed out on the Tundra this february. So yes, if you can, buy while you can.

I missed out on the Tundra twice on the internet.

I've also missed out on Samurai and Lawmen (only to pay more later) and a blastrons pack in the stores.

My worst offense though was not picking up a SOTM for $9.99 on clearance at Target a couple months back. Oh, how foolish I was.

Len from WGHQ has originally said that they were not going to get there order as the majority of Wave 2 was being allocated to the bigger retailers..so either...

A- The bigger retailers did not order as much as WOTC was planning

or

B-They got so many requests for orders that they increased the production run.

or

C- Scapers sent a barage of angry letters to wizards :p

I'm not waiting for my 3 knights 2 minions order to come in, and I can't wait. I'm not sure if I should order one more pack of minions because the drones need to be in swarm, but I don't really have much money left.

It's nice to think that that is even a possibility but $ is what talks.

It's also a possibility that whoever Len talked to didn't know what was going on. For that matter, it's possible no one in the whole company knew what was going on. :)

I also think it's possible something happened that made it unclear how much product was actually going to be delivered by November.

It's also possible there was a temporal vortex that caused a rift in the space-time continuum, and a horde of orcs from nebulon-6 momentarily took over WotC and, at some point in their rapacious plundering, made prank calls to distributors, thus causing me to use my hard-won gift certificate on Heavy Gruts instead of Wave 2.

This last theory is, I believe, the most likely scenario.

I'm sure there's a limited quantity to a degree. However, I went to 3 Walmarts today and all three had wave 2. In fact one of them had 3 sets of wave 2 on the shelf. Do you know what shared the space with it? A full set of wave 3 that's been there for a week or so.

So yes, eventually they will stop production of wave 2. However, I don't feel like you need to buy everything you see today because there won't be any tomorrow. Just like wave 3, I think you'll see some wave 2 collecting dust on the shelves after the inital rush to buy, buy, buy. I still remember last year when I was wave 1 sitting on the shelf at Walmart and I thought "You know, I would like to have another set of those, but they will be there tomorrow". They were there for 2 weeks before they dried up and my procrastination lead me to have to get Romans from EVILBAY!

So today, I did buy 3 packs of Knights. No way am I letting these get past me. :)

Point taken. I'd like to think, "This is the resurrection of company support for HeroScape."

There will always be more... we still havn't seen these flood over into FLAG stores or walmarts yet. The same thing happened to them with wave 8... they got more later. When Sandra runs out is when you should be really worried. It's probably a safe bet that she stocks more scape then any other company out there at the moment.

lol, unless you throw in some of our avid collectors.

You can still get them as part of the set, though.

Canada, or at least my neck of it, never got Wave 7 or 8 in Walmart, so I have little faith for Wave 2.

I thought since he was talking about "the best person" the answer would be RevDyer. i think he/she/it any good, but i has no idea how many most dollars he/she/it cost.

$10.97 plus tax at many Walmart locations right now! Plus you get three other guys in kilts and a squad of microcorp agents.
