Don't worry, I'm 37 and I live in Perth, and I still can't get there :) . Not to mention that the tourney was a few weeks ago and I haven't yet mastered time travel

What was the event like? How many players did you get? Was there official rankings and stuff?
I want all the juicy details.

Not very likely Mr. Underhill.....unless we can get lots more people playing over here i don't think we'd get big events. The profile of the game has to be promoted more....i.e something like GenCon.

DickFlea,
(None of this is new to you, but I'm just thinking out loud :) )
With the reports that Hasbro are pulling back on their support of local retailers it's gonna be hard for the game to achieve the same stature that it has in the U.S. I'm not suggesting that it will ever reach the same market penetration as the U.S. but, with effective promotion, it could do better.
As I see it, the local toy stores here are still stocking the Master Set, and probably selling these quite well. The problem arises when people buy the MS from their local toy store and then are faced with the prospect of not being able to purchase any expansions locally. Consequently, there must be heaps of players in Oz with Master Sets only, and a select few who have expanded their collections to include the plethora of add-ons.
It would be hard to run a decent tournament with so few players who have the variety of game pieces that you'd expect to see in other tourneys overseas.
One possible solution would be to bring new players to this forum. Would it be unrealistic to ask our local toy stores to place a few 'business cards' adjacent to their HS Master Sets on the shelf? The only objection I can imagine would be that the shop owner may be reluctant to send customers to a forum which supports a competitive HS seller (i.e. House Mouse), albeit an overseas one.
There must be many HS players here in my city (Perth), but as far as I know I'm the only one represented here on this forum :(
Are there game conventions here in Oz? Are they only on the East coast? (BTW anything East of Kalgoorlie is Eastern states :P )
It's just so frustrating!
That's all.

Maybe the first place to start would be the gaming conventions and gaming groups:
Gaming Convention calendar:

Conquest is Melbourne's Easter Games Convention held annually at Melbourne High School over the Easter Weekend.
In 2007, it's from Friday 6th April to Monday 9th April.

It may be prudent to check GameCircle as well

I haven't thoroughly checked all of these, but they may be worth exploring further.
