so if i have a figure engaged with one of my opponents can neither me or my opponent target them with ranged attacks? because on one of the new figure cards with the homing ability it requires you to be engaged to get the bonus to the attack does this trump the engagment rule and if so what other cards do this

My understanding for engagement and ranged attacks is this:
If a figure is engaged to another figure, that figure that is engaged cannot make any ranged attacks or attack anything other than the figure it is engaged to. Otherwords, you have to fight the guy that is in your face.
If another figure not engaged to anyone wants to shoot at two things that are engaged, they can fire into the melee as normal.
hope that helps.

The confusion is understandable. Sometimes alot of these rules are best learned through play and example. They are not always explained clearly in the rule book.

You keep the Blastrons at a range

Thanks for asking this question. We have been kicking this around at my house for some time.

Ya... We've always played where you can attack anyone you want, even if you are engaged with
someone.

Yes, if you are engaged, then you can only attacked the units with whom you are engaged.
This rule applies to normal and SPECIAL ATTACKS.
However, you may target a non-adjacent figure with a special ability, even if you are engaged to a different figure. Thus Braxas may use her acid breath on three non-adjacent opponents even if she's engaged to a fourth adjacent opponent. Other examples of special abilities include Sudema's stone stare and Dan's Sharpshooter power.

Seriously, having ranged units be able to ignore attackers engaged with them and instead target more prime targets seriously undercuts melee power. If you want to target something other than the targets you are engaged with... disengage and hope they roll a blank(s)
