Just to get the ball rolling, one idea I thought might be cool is to get one gigantic map set up, something that could fill a goodly portion of the store, and then run an epic battle the likes of which none of us has ever seen. Basically the Battle of the Bulge, but on tables.

I'm in favor of another regular tournament, but I'd be happy just to be playing at all.
How many times am I going to have to + Rep you before you get another card, Granite?
Griffin

I would like to do a Tournament. Then again a giant epic battle sounds great too. Still, the tournament would allow us to reevaluate ourselves, and compare our progress to our performance from the last tournament. And it would give a few people who missed the last one a chance to make it to this one.
Maybe Granite's little green rep cards will go up when he decides to actually gives rep once in a while... to me. I have reped and reped and reped until my fingers were numb, maybe he only reps up and not down. Then again I can see my rep is as big as his, and that's not saying much.

I like granite's idea, i can bring my terrain and we could combine Granite's and mine and put all the tables together, One giant map with everything on it.
Im up to make either the one big map, or several small ones (like last time) into a tournament, but im also up for just playin and havin fun. maybe bring a movie or 2 in, bring food and anything else people can think of and just make it a fun "hang around" and celebrate heroscape, we can even make special party hats:p, (just kidding)

One reason I was thinking the giant map idea would be fun is to give us a chance to try out some crazy big armies, possibly mixing Marvel in, on monstrous terrain. We could potentially set up some side tables for people that want to run more traditional tournament-rules games. I figure, it being NHSD and all, that it would be cool to flex HS's muscles and show some people just how awe-inspiringly huge this game can get when you let it.

I'd prefer a tournament myself, but I definitely can see where having a large display map to show off and try and bring in new people--it IS NHSD--could be potentially very cool.
And I have no obligations the 18th, so I will be there.

OK, I thought it would be nice to make some sweet tournament/game party passes for all. Everyone who is planning on being there should Private Message me and let me know what kind of pass/name tag they want. If you don't PM me I will not know what kind of pass/tag to make you, therefore you will not get one. The passes/tags will be your very own Heroscape custom card that will be laminated and come with a cord that you can wear to any future tournaments or game nights. If you have seen any of my customs you know I do a very nice professional job. Here are the personal stats that I will need from everyone.
General:
Name:
Screen Name:
Species: (Human Hopefully but whatever)
Hero: (Every one will be Unique Hero's (sorry NC_Hero))
Class: (Devourer, Agent, Ninja ..etc......)
Personality: (Valiant, Tricky, Terrifying..etc...)
Jedi Class: (click the LINK (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showpost.php?p=644152&postcount=652) to learn more. This will be instead of height)
Age:
City:
State: (Some Virginians will be dropping in on us beat us up again)
Country: (Pretty sure most of us are Americans but you never know)
Membership: (List whether or not you are a member here on HeroScapers.com (some people will be filling this form out offline)
Point Value: (Tell me the amount of money someone would have to offer you, for you to sell all of your HeroScape stuff. This should be fun.
Picture: (There will be no personal pictures, it's not necessary and I will need the room on the card to make your name large enough to be legible)
With all those stats I should be able to make a really nice custom card for all who commit to the NHSD event in NC at Amazing Tales.

Even though I have been doing the custom card work for some time. I just got into doing repaints and custom figs last week and I must say I think I have pretty good knack for it. I have been well versed in the arts of design, "snap", and I think a contest or display is an awesome idea. Do you have any thoughts on this. I am thinking we should have a custom creator contest, a custom terrain contest and a repaint figure contest. I know that J Uni..... I mean Altron Zero is into the terrain stuff, lets see what else NC can do. Amazing Tales is an art major, so there is a judge right there. Many will enter, few will win!
Hey Amazing Tales, how about entering your custom terrain Master Set for a prize in one of those categories?

I think that it'd be very difficult to have both at the same time-- all the terrain for one would be tied up in the other, not to mention that people couldn't play on both at the same time. One possibility is that we could have a single, gigantic, battle-royale style tournament. Huge map, but everyone gets a tourney-standard 500 pt. army, and we can keep track of points in a similar manner (I could work out a method of tracking who killed whom's units, and from there get an equivalent to the Strength of Score methodology).

Once again, I'm cool with just having a normal tourney. Although other options could include a team tourney (2-man teams with around 300 points each). That could be fun. Although everyone would have to fight over who my partner is...... :p

IMHO, We play enough 3v3, 2v2, and FFA on Sundays. All it takes is a 2v1 to knock someone out in a FFA. Even with the Strength/Score system, this could create some sore feelings for those knocked out early.
I'm voting for a 1v1 tourney.
With a little help from initiative, two people working together could wipe out a good portion of an army before that player gets a chance to attack.
This isn't the WWE where someone would be able to make a miraculous comeback after a 2v1 beat down.
A 1v1 tournament will give us an undisputed champion!
With that said, I'd also like to see a large heroscape terrain display. (maybe those knocked out in the first 2 or 3 rounds of the 1v1 tourney can play a consolation game on the big map?)
Hey Griffin, what about setting up a Gladiator table?

OK here is the deal. People have been PM me about the custom tags, apparently I need to be more clear. I would like for everyone to be able to sport a very cool custom, regulation Heroscape card as a name tag and proof you entered the tournament as a keep sake. If you want one just PM me with your stats that I highlighted in the post on page 2. You don't have to reveal any of your stats online, this way we don't have to hijack the thread, I don't have to start a new one, and any personal info does not have to be on the site. PM with your stats in reference to my post on page 2. Does any one know how to view a single thread like on the link to my post on Jedi/Sith? I would like to change my signature with that link on the tags, so everyone can find it easily in the future.

Dude, maybe you lack the perspective of having played a game against J-Unit. I've played two, and I have to say that he used classic strategy to systematically crush my battle plans-- not exactly what I'd call a fluke, more like doing exactly what one does to defeat an opponent. The next tournament will have its initial seedings informed by the scores from the previous one, and you might get a chance to play against the kid. If you wind up having your army handed to you on a plate, I'd advise against calling it a "fluke."
Crush all your opponents once, shame on you. Crush all your opponents twice, shame on us for underestimating you.

as for the tounament i agree with granite that we should combine the tournament into one giant game, since its NHSD we should do somthing that we dont already do every sunday night. I also like the idea of setting up a table for some customs. also someone could bring a movie, music, or somthing of the sort to make it more like a party than just a tournament.

One thing is for sure, J-Unit is the guy to take down and anybody who wants to be somebody should want to confront him in battle and win. All I can say is, J-Unit be prepared cause I think everyone is gunning for you, I know I am. Hey, maybe you should charge $5 for a game against anybody who thinks they are tough enough. :)

And also, now I have to keep my army that I'm using quiet. If people found out I was using another Cyprien army (which I'm not) everyone would bring all Soulborgs.
Anyways, I wanted to play You, Altron, at the last tourney. I just didn't get a chance too. You too Griffin. All and all, I just can't make it on Sundays that often. I may try to make it once, but I'm not sure. I guess I'll just have to see.

You know what , that's actually a really good point. Granite, last time we started building at 11:00 am and finished around 3:00 pm or 4:00 pm, If we do a tournament first just like last time, we can have a long break by eating some pizza and cake (oh yes there will be a cake), then we could have time enough for all who are interested, to stay and do the big map thing. What do you think? Too much or is this possible.

Griffin, why not set up the Gladiator game for after the tournament. We can even build it before the tournament starts because the terrain is flat & the only other set(s) necessary are castle sets.

I doubt it would work to have both a battle royale and a standard tournament on the same day, and since it sounds as though there's middling at best support for the battle royale, I'd just as soon figure that we're going to do a standard Swiss-style tourney setup. I'm a little less familiar with the idea behind the Coliseum scenario, but I do think it'd be cool to have something a little different to put together. NC_Hero, if I take charge of the tournament, would you be willing to take charge of setting up and running the Coliseum?

I've played against you and it was a darn close game. Close enough that it came down to dice rolls alone. Regardless, you don't make friends with lines like "Oh well, at least that will give someone else a chance to win." I hope that will be a lesson you learn with puberty.

so.... I'm going to be at the tournament and am definitely looking forward to it... and Granite, no, no big crazy map. Let's do that for some other day other than NHSD. We need a standard tournament for bragging rights.

I'm not cocky, I'm just joking around. There's lots of people here in North Carolina and Virginia that are just as good as me. If I offended you Boozehammer, I wasn't trying too. I hope you don't think less of me for it.

Heck yeah, Boozehammer holding it down. J-unit.. backpedaling? J-unit, you still have a chance to make it right? I hope you can, just so some of us can put this debate to rest. Yes you are good, but the truth is, you had a couple very close games while some people had to take a draw due to time limits (Altron). I am almost sorry that you won 2 in a row because now you have all this pressure to be so great that it may actually conflict with the most important part of the game for certain other Jedi Scapers, having fun.
Why can't I rep myself?

Griffin, I'd really advise you to save your trash talking until you've actually won a game against J-Unit. Bear in mind that in order to win two tournaments in a row, he didn't just randomly pull out a fluke win-- he beat all of his opponents, one after another, by a greater margin than anyone else beat theirs. That sounds less like a happenstance, and more like consistent strategy. Maybe J-Unit will and maybe he won't win the next one, but you can't say that he didn't earn his previous victories.
Griffin
September 15th, 2008, 01:43 AM
That's funny, I never said that he didn't earned his previous victories. I think that I told you in private about 2 weeks ago that he must OBVIOUSLY be good if he can win 2 in a row. So that is kind of funny that I could be implemented as one who doubts his wins and abilities. I just wanted to make sure that everyone knows that J-Unit is not the only competitive player in our circle. I believe that Altron could have just as easily won or Boozehammer. There are several really great players in our NC/VA community, Darkblade is one of them as well. So if anyone is looking to play against a very talented player, J-Unit is not the ONLY one. J-Unit knows I am not trash talking, I am merely taking some of this unnecessary pressure off of him and certain others by adding a little perspective to a few unseen facts that other talented Scapers may be too humble to say for themselves.
If you look back a couple of posts you will see my comment (joke) about J-Unit being targeted by everyone and myself, with one of these :) at the end. He replied with a ;). I think that speaks for it's self. Trash talking.... nahhh, just picking at this whole weird obsession that grown men have about being beat up by a kid (no offense), in a kids game.

Well said Jedi.
Umm... 500 points and a thermal detonator (force lightning, Jedi Mind Trick), because your right, 500 points won't be enough. But I still say 500 points, that's my opinion because it makes for well balanced games as far as time and 24 hex placement of your army. It just works.

Granite-M
September 18th, 2008, 02:31 PM
Prize donations may count as entry fees, but we may have to discuss how donations can count. I'm not sure how we can keep it fair, vis a vis scarcity of sets. I know that some of them are selling for ludicrous amounts on eBay, and I'd rather not equate eBay value with multiple entry fees, such that a single set of Snipers and Vipers (no matter that they are awesome) could pay for an entire contingent of entrants.
bunjee
September 18th, 2008, 02:49 PM
Eh, we always just said that a small booster counts as an entry fee of $10, aka Walmart prices. In our case the things we would bring were extras we picked up on sale. Another option we've done is to open the small boosters and make each squad a separate prize item so that no matter what, anyone that participates gets a prize.
I'll keep my thoughts going on other ideas.
Granite-M

Yah, it has been put forth that the big guys upstairs will be trying to do their own prize support, independent of WotC's lack thereof, so we'll see what we can do there. There was a discussion the other night about procedures that wanted to be brought up here on the thread. At issue are dice rolling methods. Some are of the opinion that dice must land in their designated rolling area, be that a dice tower or on the table, to count, and any that land anywhere else, say the board, the floor, or outside the dice tower, ought to be re-rolled.
My position has always been this: if it's a fair roll, it's a fair roll. That is to say, dice towers are there for convenience, not necessity, and if you can read a die, then it counts as what it is. That said, some will disagree, and I respect that. With that in mind, my inclination is this: at the start of a match, make sure that you and your opponent agree on where the dice need to land in order to count. No matter what your method is, so long as both of you agree on it, there shouldn't be a problem.
Also, try not to throw your dice helter skelter across the room, as that will cause chaos. Chaos, bad. Delicious cookies, good.

Since some of you have been asking, here are the full rules for Craig Van Ness' Coliseum :D
Epic Heroscape Game #2- Taelord’s Coliseum
This game is for 6 players and the host (who does not play).
The Battlefield-
Build a Coliseum. You can use multiple tower packs, or build up terrain to make stepped seating. It really doesn’t matter what it looks like. It kinda depends on just how big your Heroscape collection is (my collection is kinda big). When building your Coliseum, you will need a clear visual clue as to where the fighting area is and where the figures in the audience are placed. This visual clue could be raised tiles, different color tiles, or any other clue you might think of. I build up the stands with raised tiles.
You’ll need 18 Unique Heroes to run this game. You will also need some other figure to represent the crowd watching the event, and some squads to represent the wild animals that will be released during the game.
The Story-
(I am not a writer, so I usually write just enough to set the stage.)
Taelord, lord of battling and Utgar’s current right hand man, holds gladiator competitions to find who are the most fearsome warriors in his army. He also forces captured heroes to fight in the battle, just for added extra fun.
The Pregame-
In this game, before the game, each player needs to spend 100 gold. Tell them before they even see the arena (if possible) they will need to decide how much gold they will spend on each of these four things. They will need to bring a piece of paper to the game stating where their gold will be spent.
Give them the following in an email or on a piece of paper:
Gladiators, here are your options:
Bribe the Gladiator Trainer
(this will better your chances to get the Gladiators you want)
Donate to the Temple of Dagmar
(this could increase your initiative roll during the game)
Throw Gold into the Crowd
(this might help you win the favor of the crowd)
Bribe the Animal Trainer
(I think you can guess what this will do)
So...
You can spend your 100 gold however you like.
Here’s an example:
Bribe the Gladiator Trainer - 10 gold
Donate to the Temple of Dagmar - 50 gold
Throw Gold into the Crowd - 0 gold
Bribe the Animal Trainer - 40 gold
Please return this to me before the game begins.
Also, let the players know that they will be choosing from 6 sets of 3 Gladiators. You, as the host, pick these groups. Just use what you have. When selecting, make sure the sets of 3 heroes are not equal in points total.
Here are the teams of 3 heroes you will be selecting from for Taelord's Coliseum:
(this is who we played with)
Cyprien, Mimring, Krug – 420
Ne-Gok-Sa, Deathwalker 9000, Su-Bak-Na – 380
Finn, ROTV Raelin, SOTM Sgt. Drake Alexander – 330
Sonlen, Morsbane, Syvarris – 360
Spartacus, Retiarius, Crixus – 380
Sudema, Agent Carr, James Murphy – 315
Getting Ready to play- OK, you have built your Coliseum. You will need to place 6 glyphs Symbol-side up anywhere on the coliseum floor near the edge, not in the middle. Spread the glyphs out evenly. Cut up 6 small pieces of paper (about the size of a glyph) and write the numbers 1-6 on them. Place the pieces of paper on the glyphs. Place your groups of 3 heroes adjacent to the each of the glyphs, so each glyph will have a set of three heroes nearby. These glyphs represent doors and no figure is allowed to occupy them. You will need 3 squads to represent the animals that will attack during the game. I used Marrden Hounds, Anubian Wolves, and Deathstalkers. You can use any squads you think will work. Hide these squads from the players. They will come into play later. Now, fill the stands with the rest of your Heroscape figures.
Rules for the players:
Object- To survive and destroy the other gladiators. The instantly game ends when there are only 6 Heroes left and victory points are awarded. Each surviving Hero receives 100 pts + their point value. During the game players should keep the Army Cards that their gladiators destroyed. Each player receives the point value of each hero their team of gladiators destroyed. The player with the most points wins. However, you must have at least one surviving Gladiator to win.
So how does this stuff work during the game?
Bribe the Gladiator Trainer – The player who spent the most gold gets first pick of his 3 heroes, the 2nd most gets second pick and so on. All ties are decided by a 20-sided roll.
Donate to the Temple of Dagmar- The player who spent the most gold adds 10 to every one of his initiative rolls. If there is a tie decide it by rolling the 20-sided die. All other players add 1 to every one of his initiative rolls for each 10 gold they spent (round down).
Throw Gold into the Crowd- The player who spent the most gold is never attacked by the Crowd (see The Crowd below), and never is Sniped (see End of the Round Sniping). All ties are decided by a 20-sided roll. All other players add 1 to every one of his Crowd Rolls (this includes Crowd Approval Rating rolls and Crowd Attack Rolls) for each 10 gold they spent (round down) (see The Crowd below).
Bribe the Animal Trainer- The player who spent the most gold will receive control of the first squad of animals unleashed. See End of Round Animal Attack below. The 2nd most will receive control of the second squad released after the second round. The 3rd most will receive control of the third squad released after the third round. All ties are decided by a 20-sided roll.
End of the Round Sniping: This crowd is evil. At the end of each round, each player, except the player who through the most gold into the crowd, must roll for his or her Crowd Approval Rating. All players, except the player who through the most gold into the crowd, roll the 20-sided die. The player who rolled the lowest will receive sniper shots. Sniper shots are taken one at time for each of this player’s heroes. The host rolls the 20-sided die. If a 19 or higher is rolled that hero is destroyed.
End of the Round Animal Attack: After the Sniping (see above) the animals are released. You will need 3 squads to represent the animals that will attack during the game. One squad will enter the Coliseum after each of the first three rounds. I used Marrden Hounds, Anubian Wolves, and Deathstalkers. You can use any squads you think will work. Prior to the game, pick the order in which the squads will enter the Coliseum. After the first round announce that animals are being released (one squad). Give the appropriate squad card to the player who spent the most for Bribe the Animal Trainer. Roll a six sided die. The animals are placed adjacent to the door glyph rolled. The player controlling the animal squad may immediately take a turn with them. After round 2, the first squad of animals takes a turn, then the new animals are released. Roll a 6-sided for a new door glyph. The player who spent the second most gets to control this new squad and takes a turn with them immediately. After round 3, the first squad of animals takes a turn, then the second squad of animals takes a turn, then the third squad is released. Roll a 6-sided for a new door glyph. The player who spent the third most gets to control this new squad and takes a turn with them immediately.. After round 4 and on, continuing taking turns with the animals (in the chosen order) if they are alive. Any heroes destroyed by the animals count for victory points for the player controlling the animals. Note: Order markers are never placed on these animal squad cards. They move and attack at the end of the rounds only.
Taelord’s Ruling- If a Hero figure receives wound(s) and now has one life left, the crowd will vote to see if that hero is automatically destroyed. Roll ten combat dice, if you (the host) roll 5 or more skulls the figure is destroyed, if you roll 4 or less the figure remains on the table. Note: For scoring, any hero destroyed by Taleord’s Ruling counts for the player who brought that hero down to one life left.
The Crowd- You as the host control the crowd figures. You do not use order markers. They only move and attack if a player fails a Crowd Attack Roll. A Crowd Attack Roll takes place when a player’s Gladiator goes into the crowd or attempts to move while in the crowd area(the crowd area). That player immediately rolls the 20-sided die. If the player rolls a 15 or higher, the crowd does nothing. If the player rolls an 14 or lower you can attack with any Army Card nearby. Note: If you are the player who through the most gold into the crowd, the crowd ignores you.
In closing- If you are unclear about anything above, you as the host can decide what you think will be fair and fun for all players. Feel free to add, adjust, and or delete anything written above. Some added surprises will keep your players on edge, especially if you think they are reading this blog entry.

Make sure to test the stickers, some of them tend to stay really really well.
Another option would be "repositionable" contact paper. You know, the vinyl stuff you line shelves with? A roll usually costs around $2.99 and you could cut little squares. I may even have a roll in the stuff I packed. If I do, I'll let you know. I'm still unpacking boxes and I lost track of what I decided to leave behind.

Probably shouldn't bring them if they're going to need any help playing, or if they are so rudimentary in their HS skills that their presence could blow the curve for skill rankings.
That's cool. I'd say the 7 yr old is out...but I'll gauge the 10 yr old over the next couple of weeks.
For now put me down as 2... myself and at least one kid.

Sorry I have not posted in a couple of days. I have been busy defending my honor on another thread about my Skahen and Skahen custom listings on Ebay.
OK, Starting zone markers nice, dice rolling clarity necessary, Coluseum rules awesome, Kids Great, and Cookies Sweeeeet!
I think that covers it and in that order, just don't tell my daughters there will be cookies, cause there won't be any left.

NC_Hero-- I'm curious as to what the plan is for the coliseum. It looks like there are six armies in there, so are there only six players at a time, or will we be building some others? Do you figure on prizes? Winner takes all, or top group gets prize?
Also, as regards the regular tournament, I'd like to hear some people's nominations for maps. We can always go back to the ones we used last time, but if you've some tournament-ready maps you'd like to see, let's hear 'em!

Wow! I was just thinking that the coliseum would be fun to play after the tournament. The map is going to require 6 Castle sets. I have 4 and Altron has two.
If you like, we can run it as some sort of consolation tournament for the bottom six from the main tournament? It would be great if we could give the winner a prize.
Anyway, we can talk more about it on Sunday @ AT.
All opinions on this subject are welcome...

So, looks like it's about time to hammer out that map list. As I recall, 7 maps worked pretty well for the last tournament, so I'm nominating the following:
-Ice Blossom (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/downloads.php?do=file&id=283) (I can bring this one)
-Flash Fire (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/downloads.php?do=file&id=300)
-Stroll Through the Park (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/downloads.php?do=file&id=558)
-Embattled Fen (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/downloads.php?do=file&id=134) (I can also bring this one)
-Swamp Thing (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/downloads.php?do=file&id=239)

-The Broken Skyline (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/downloads.php?do=file&id=236)
If you've got one you'd really like to see, now's the time to mention it! Otherwise, I'll be needing volunteers to take responsibility for the remaining maps on the list.
The end... for now???!?!!

I would like to Nominate the following maps:
Badru Valley
Ticalla Sunrise
Fire Isles (We played this map on 10/4 @ AT)
Also, I have some suggestions. If people are only going to have four games, I think that we should only have four maps and, everyone should play one game on each map.
The total number of tournament maps made would reflect the number of participants in the tournament.
Ex. 16 players = 2x of each map type. + or - players may indicate that some maps are not played each game or, that we need to assemble an extra four maps. If we are 16 players or less, we only need to assemble eight maps (2 of each type).
If you want to build a special map for the Final, that would be cool too. 8)

Personaly, I don't think this is a good idea. I can't go, so I guess it doesn't really matter, but it's a lot more fun having different maps then the same ones. That's one thing that makes tourneys so much fun. You never know what map you're going to get, and you also can't prepare your army to be good on those specific maps.
Granite-M
October 10th, 2008, 06:21 PM
I lean towards J-Unit's feelings. I prefer to have more than [number of players / 2] maps for the reasons of originality as referenced above, and on the off chance that some people want to play some side games while other games are still going on. Ideally, no-one should ever play on the same map twice. I realize that this can create situations where one's army is better on a given map than on another, but I'm pretty sure that this will happen any way you slice it, and we might as well just try to diversify the mapping as much as possible.
NC_Hero, would you mind linking to the maps you were interested in?

Bunjee, thanks very much for volunteering! If you want to bring that many maps, that'd be fantastic, but I would like to make sure we've got enough labor to get these things built. The two maps per builder thing has seemed to work, so do you and elstree want to bring 4 (your call as to which) between the two of you? Any more than that and I'd really like to see if we can get someone to volunteer to help you build.
Also, thanks very much for tracking down those map links!

Altron, NC_Hero, sorry to lose you guys! Griffin, bunjee, thanks very much for stepping up.
Everyone else, please, please, check your planners and see if you can actually come. I appreciate that things can come up unexpectedly, but we really are affected in a tangible way when we lose players. The tournament itself is smaller, but on top of that, when we lose entry fees it reduces the number of prizes we can give away and it hurts Billy's business. If we know about conflicts sooner rather than later, we can plan accordingly.
If people could take a look around and see if they know of anyone else that might like to come along and fill in the ranks a little, that would be fantastic. Carpool, cajole, and if that doesn't work, I don't think we're above blackmail. Anything for the cause, right?

Note to spam this too much, but I realized I'll probably have a better chance of getting results if I post this here:
A quick inquiry before the tournament: Does anybody have one squad of Gladiatrons that I could borrow? Seeing as I've not actually played Heroscape in a month (that's changing today, though, as I've set aside four hours to game before the tournament), it would be foolish to use anything new, but with the increased point value, I'd really like to run 3x Gladiatrons... but I only have 2. All my Gladiatrons are clearly marked with my initials on the base, so I promise to take good care of yours and love them (they are Gladiatrons) and not get them mixed up. If you don't have any/can't/don't want to loan them, that's totally OK, too, but I thought that there was no harm in asking and I have another army I can use and intend to play, too.
Just PM me if you have a squad to spare. That'd be totally cool.

Also, because that's what the map-maker ordained! Talk to those guys-- we just play in their worlds, we don't build them.
Also, added rankings list and graphic scoreboard to the front page.
Also, with regards to a little after-action evaluation...
Bunjee inspired an EXCELLENT idea for the next tournament: door prize for non-prize-winner who travelled the furthest to get to the tournament. I've been a little worried before about people who come a long way and don't necessarily place. MagnumMike was awesomely gracious, but I would really like reward the effort and gas money the long-haulers put in.
We should definitely try to get at least one more round of play in, the next time around. As it stands, we had a six-way tie for first place, based on our first ranking criterion, and I think it would be nice to put a little more oomph behind the winners of the top three.
First-round seeding based on previous tournament scores? If we seed the first round based on people's pre-existing scores, we may be able to set the lions against one another early on, and get the tiers straightened out.
Science!!!

If you match people by their previous records, it may allow the new matches to occur as some of the lower ranked people get some wins by playing people they are more equal with in skill.
Another option would be some team tournaments where higher ranked players are teamed with lower ranked players. It might give some of the lower ranked players a chance to see the strategy of the best people.

I like the 2nd idea. That would be great. A team tourney..... :p

It looks like you guys had a great time. I'm itching to play with you all again, and to meet some of those I haven't gotten to meet yet.

We should definitely try to get at least one more round of play in, the next time around. As it stands, we had a six-way tie for first place, based on our first ranking criterion, and I think it would be nice to put a little more oomph behind the winners of the top three. How about the first four rounds are swiss style and then the top 4-6 play single elimination? Or, if the tournament is small enough go to a straight double elimination format.

I used 7x Zombies and Kaemon Awa. I fought a whole bunch, and sometimes I almost lost, but then I didn't, until I did lose that one time. The zombies mostly came back, but that one time they died too much, so I lost. The end.

2x4th mass
2xdeathreavers
nilfhiem

.. If you count this up it only adds up to 415:oops:. I showed up a little late so my first game was a bye. My first loss was a great game agianst eltree, I was had by a skilled payer and thats all I can say. The next game was agianst Granite and was also a good game, and a good win. Luckily niflhiem pulled through for me while some deathreavers blocked a few zombies, and then the 4th mass cleaned up.

It is both sad and funny that you didn't realize it until the end of the event when I asked you about your army.

I really want to come down and play a few games with all of my fellow 'scapers.
I am sure that Noodles, Black Rayne, Legion and I feel that it is high time that the Goobertown Posse comes down and represents. I have one problem and that being that I cannot get on the internet too much ( it is a personal choice, the internet is the information super-highway straight to Satan's domain ) but occasionally I have to do work on the computer. I really want to play though, as I am sure the other Gobbertown guys do. I see that Noodles is planning a Shass in January? I love it. I can get us a place to play, tables, all of that stuff. (thats if none of you will burst into flames playing Heroscape in a church.) I am kidding-HSISCOOLFORKIDS, you don't count in that one.
anyway, I will get with Noodles and see if he would like to try this.
please allow me to come for the next event, that would rock like none other.

Haven't posted in a few days so here goes. I deffinately want to play a competitive game against J-Unit. I vote that Altron should be the #1 seed for next tourney (he got third place with a handicap army, we suck). And in reference to your comment Bunjee, Q9 has a very loving mother that can be a little overprotective, that would explain his very high defense. :p But it is rumored that his father could have been a Death Walker.

Actually I'm betting he's so defensive because he doesn't know the identity of his father.

Did you put that in any particular order, or is that just the scores?
