he never addressed the fact that he has paid little to no attention
to the site for 9 months. This is not us being rash in a split decision. This is the result of us being on a site that is slow and broken and with an admin that has no time to upkeep it. Now he's talking about having EVEN LESS time for it. I feel bad for him I really do. If he were involved over the past months and then suddenly dissapeared we would have endured the further degregation of the site. But that is not the case. The FACT is the community needs someone dependable running the site.

Yeah, right - ""only" historical threads flaking out"... Who would ever care about historical threads? Just old stuff man, leave it behind! Who cares about the time you have been putting into this old stuff? Get over it - who cares? Who would ever want to read old posts anyway? Who??? :brickwall:

what happened to GW certainly sounds like a nightmare. glad i'm not in his shoes and i hope things settle down for him and he gets back on his feet.
but, the fact remains that the new server was setup incorrectly. doesn't matter that he thinks the problems are minor...they are not minor to many of us. the email funrun posted on the HQ just proves he is too busy and will be too busy for who knows how long.
granted an HS fansite is low priority compared to "real life" stuff, however there are some red flags in the way he downplays the problems, imo.
The server overhaul went well, but because I went with all new software on the server side (for higher efficiency) that also means ALOT of variables changed all at once... and something minor is out of whack, which is causing the database (mysql) server to randomly return 0 results on queries... Which translates to no posts showing up on certain threads sometimes... I know the problem, but not the cause yet... When I get more time I will work on it further.
i wonder if he realizes that almost all posts between 11/11/05 and 4/15/06 are not accessible. and any thread with pointers to these unreachable posts are jazzed up royal.
and even with all the new software (and all the new variables), it's still slow slow slow.
Anyway, it is too bad that the mods are launching their own site. I was under the understanding that the new threads were working fine for the most part and it was only historical threads that were flaking out. I will be trying to get this fixed soon.
new threads? only historical threads? excuse me?
it was both historical AND active threads and it's the active threads that needed to be fixed sooner than later.
he's out of touch with the site, understandably.
i'm done with it, understandably.

I find it intersting that he himself has not taken one or two minutes out of his day to explain any of this to us. Even now we read this second hand from funrun. Months have gone by without hardly even a single post from GW to help us moderate the site. We asked many times each of us.

Well what can I say, I got connections. Maybe it is a female thing. ;)

Really I dunno why he emails me back if he doesn't email the mods.

It is very odd. I know I had been emailing him for quite a while from the get go. I used to get pretty quick responses and then nothing. To the point that I stopped even going to the hq site because I couldn't take the frustration.
Either way, we have a place to go and connect, that seems to be the important thing.
Though I would like to see the question to hasbro thread restored. There was a lot of good info in there.

I agree. It was useful to collect all the questions and responses in one place.
PM Kenntak. He started and maintained the thread at HQ. The first post with all the questions/answers is still there. I would restart it here, but the thread should really be maintained by a mod so he/she could update the FAQ with the answers.

Yes yes, I thought we went through this before, but the newbies prolly don't know it is me.

As for emailing GW, he has several email addresses. . . he was responding to the heroscapehq email address regularly at first, but after a few months I didn't get a response for weeks, then when he replied he said that address had been overloaded with spam and he wasn't checking it anymore. At that point he gave me his work email, which he seems to check every morning. If you were using the HQ address, then this may explain why you didn't responses anymore.

Thanks, DS! It sucks that it is gone but I actually do have all the pictures still but not the storyline. I was hoping to get that copied here. Maybe someday it will be back and get it over here. I could also rewrite it but it will be a few weeks before that can happen.

I think its awesome that you guys stood up and created this site. I have nothing but respect for you and appreciate you creating this site. I have a feeling it will dominate.
At the same time, I think GW worked at least as hard as he was paid for. It would have been a bargain at twice the price

Alright fellas I think I see the problem. I have been steadily gazing at Funrun's avatar and I have come up with the reason Gw is not talkin to us. So I will try this here.
Dear Gw,
Is there anyway you could stop by and address us on HQ's in person. I know many people are very anxious to here from you and wouild like to know if you still support the site. In the amount of time you emailed funrun you could have also posted for us.
Thanks a bunch,
Skyknight

I could seriously live without that picture. ^
So I read funrun's post, and had to shake my head at the whole thing. I was especially amused to see that Jason, who is here and is posting, accused the mods of jumping ship at the first sign of trouble. First sign? The first signs were a long time ago!

EDIT: I re-read my post, and thought it was out of line, so I got rid of it. I am sorry if I offended you at all, Jason.

Sheesh, gibberish, absolutely no offense intended toward you at all, but I didn't see a need for an apology.
I'll leave the rest of my comments out. They are mean-spirited toward certain individuals who have been added to my ignore list.
Gawd I love the ignore button!

I would love to read more about Mechscape - one thread that got damaged by the new server. GW being saddened over the mass exodus of his mods is crap. If he's so sad, how about he answers his emails?

I am simply posting here to make clear that I am willing to supply a logic and fact-based beat-down of Jason and anyone else that incorrectly maintains that the mods were quick to pull out of HQ or too rash in making a new site.
It is flabbergasting to me that any new member would be talking about things he wasn't even here for, and unknowledgeable about.
I'd suggest that anyone who feels the mods were rash and unforgiving of GW in making this site, keep those thoughts to HQ and they may be addressed there, or more likely will be ignored, since HQ is not the center of HS fan activity anymore.

Currently the MechScape expansion is dead in the water. I had many of the graphics done but with HSHQ killing the thread, I have no idea how to finish as I don't have the latest set of rules.
Besides at this point it would be pushed behind my Cave Troll remake, a huge 110 card/2 board Talisman expansion, as well as the latest Quests of HeroScape expansion for Thaelenk Tundra!
