Should we try to implement some kind of system for getting posts from the HQ? (assuming it will be back up for a time)
Or should we just rebuild from scratch?
There is such a vast wealth of knowledge and creativity over there that I think we should be trying to get as much of it back up over here.
Or am I thinking too far ahead of myself here?

I think the only real way to do this is for individual contributors to bring over their own controbutions from there to here.

Good point. See I was thinking too far ahead of myself. I am excited we have a new HS place and I'm tired. It leads to craziness!

This is crazy, it brings back memories of going from the .net site to here. It's like one of those where do we begin?

The problem (the *****) about a transition from hq is that there is a huge chunk of posts missing since the server switch. When I did a search on my posts a couple of days ago there was nothing after November mid-month. I hadn't posted since late March but there were a solid 4 months of posts missing.
Screw it. Start fresh.
ps: reaper, I still have some of those old archived threads from .net

I have downloaded many maps and a handful of custom cards. So when this site gets a gallery I will try and post them. Or if anyone wants them just let me know.

Cool. If HQ were to stay down, I'm sure all HSHQ members could bring back most of the relevant content just from their own computers.

The maps can be added via the Add an Attachment option on posts and the images can be added via the add image to post option. Organize accordingly :)

I think I have one at home, CupidsArt. It has the fonts and sizes spelled out, right? I found it useful to make the first versions that I then modified to look closer to me. It's some kind of water unit, right?

I'd like to see Malechi and MaxoTexas finish the Mechscape project and get it uploaded here. I love mechs, it was the Zettians and DW9K that made me want to purchase HS originally. I was looking forward to the completion of that project.

consider losing your "title" a blessing. now you can start over and try to moderate how much time you spend on these forums and noone will ever know you used to be such a geek and had several thousand posts on the old site!
of course, im teasing. but i was embarrassed when i broke 100 posts but am comforted by the fact that i never reached 200.

If there's any advantage to starting over it's that I always felt a little intimidated by the high quality of the customs and materials on our old site. You guys published so much really beautiful stuff that my crude cards designed back in the early days of the game really looked cheesy! So we all get to start over!
It's OK - I never got any higher than Charos.

I'm not too worried about losing my post count. I am more upset at the loss of the Wealth of Knowledge that had been accumulated over there. So much creativity and answers, all gone :(

Ya, it really sucks. I'll really miss the downloads section. It was really convenient for finding maps. The photo gallery is also a big loss. I had some pictures on there that I don't have backed up on my computer, since the hard drive fried five or six months ago.
Look at us, refering to the HQ as if it were dead for sure. :( The problem is it probably is dead. :(

If GW decides to just leave it down, it would be nice if it would come back up for like a week, so we can get as much stuff from there as possible.

I really "push" the idea of getting back the HQ material....maybe also the backup copy made before the last server update.
Active ppl, (or at least the ones able to find THIS site) can re-post they materials, but there's a lot of good thing made from user that was no more posting in HQ.
It's ever a shame loosing something created from scratch :|

yeah but a restart could be a new beinning. but i think we were like robinson cruso, stranded on a new island after hs.net sunk and we were rescue by hshq and it sank too. so manny things are lost on the second ship because we think we were save.
and now the sea is full of dead bodys, and like lost some are the leader and search the sunken shi for usefull things.
glad hat some users surive:) Parduz.
but we will bulid a new ship or rebulid hq.

I've been lucky enough to have GaryLASQ on my ICQ contacts, which told me of this new site.
With SolidScape i've collected some HQers email addresses.
I will send to them this link soon (just in case some of them still are in the deep sea)

What about the "rebuilding" of the site structure in terms of its visual presentation and interface?
In particular, I'm thinking of how on .net and on HQ there was that opening screem that highlighted the latest post topics. I usually check in at least once/day, so quickly reading that front page helped me track the latest hubbub.
And I LOVE how fast this site is. Hooray!!!!!!! :D

I don't think they are going to do the recent topic homepage. It creates a lot of off-topic things to show up mixed in with HS stuff. It also creates a lot of ignoring of threads that get bumped down off the home page.
There is a way to see all the recent stuff, there is a link at the top of the main page that says "View posts since last visit" its on the right. It will show you everything that was posted since you were last here.

Not having the recent posts thing on the home page had me a bit miffed as well, but after seeing Nether's comment on the posts since last visit link, thanks Nether, I like this format better. I especially like how you can see at first glance where those posts are located.
Yeah, broken record, I'd like to see a HQ type download section as well, but I'll take what I can get, I'm patient.

I've noticed that every time I hit 350 posts, the server dies. So I'd like to publicly apologise for the loss of the HQ. I'll try not to post too much on this one.

The speed on the new site is worth the change in itself. I also like the fact that we're acknowldging supporters. I too will make a donation soon - I just want to make sure we're stable here first. I admire those of you who have already donated. I also like the 'no titles' for amount of posts as mentioned above.

I was trying to get here, and it brought up a search for heroscape. i noticed that Heroscape had a Wikipedia, so i looked at it. I noticed that this site has not been added to the fansites section, so i went ahead and added it. For somereason, when i typed the URL it doesnt come up as a link ith the url name, but "[1]" instead. it is still blue, and still takes you to the home page of this site, so all is well. I also added a thanks to Truth. THANKS TRUTH!
