With Mongoose' failed attempt at a prepainted miniatures game (Battlefield Evolution :cry:) they have re-entered the minis fray with the core BFevo rules in World War II and modern format; "World at War" and "Modern Combat," respectively. Both are softbound rulebooks with improved rules over the previous BFevo system. The first attempt was cool with me, but these rules play even better, with army lists for US, German, British and Russian armies included in the WaW book. More importantly, you can use any minis now instead of buying prepainted from them.

I've found that 1/72 scale plastic soldiers and diecast 1/72 vehicles from companies like Forces of Valor and Easy Model work great. The 1/72 dudes paint up quickly and the diecast vehicles are already done and some can be had at a Target store for about $9!
