Heres linkage. Right off the bat this looks like its going to be a good game. I am looking forward to a few things, new graphics, ability to interact with surrounding area, flamethrower, new taste of multiplayer style in the original god ol WW2. I believe that by advancing the originality and fun of the original games to and adding customization and ranking will be a big hit. I for one look forward to it. As for weapons and vehicles that flamethrower looks pretty BAMF, I am hoping for some original weapons like the Thompson, BAR, and Spring field. I do however wish that some like the M1 carbine and M1 Garand get drooped. Their good weapons but they A- dont get used much and B- aren't very good for long term play. Guns like these could be replaced in single player with things such as a shotgun they haven't used before or putting in more types of grenades. These kinds of things will be little adjustments that i think some people will hate but over all will be loved and well used. I for one would love to see some the US arsenal in their that i have yet to see in any video game. As for vehicles I hope we have them. Im fine with single mission usage but they should for sure place some tanks and a few jeeps or armored transports in multi. I was disappointed in COD 4 for not having those. However things can be over done. Perhaps vehicles is a good idea, but they need to be limited. Maybe 2 per team on large maps, and one central one on smaller. Also since this game is in the pacific they should integrate boats. Maybe make a few sea side missions in single and multi where you can drive the boat around and have a gunner shoot up everyone on the beach and dock. Pacific now brings me to another point.

Now that were moving to the Japanese this will really change multi and single. The japs didn't use the same weapons and maneuvers as the Germans. In Single their style of fighting will really change how missions are run and how you fair in a fire fight. As for multiplayer new weapons and faction will be a definite plus. Even though shooting up the Germans as a Russian was cool. I think that taking that step away will be a big breather and allow for some new room that will only make the game even more enjoyable. Well these are my thoughts. I am pumped now for this game and cant wait for it to release let alone give more previews. So now all I have to say is ........... discuss.

Hopefully the multiplayer will be better than the last one and the Pacific theater is something that has not been done well in any game unfortunately this is a Treyarch Studios game

IF it's not by Infinity ward, I'll wait for COD 5 or 6. Nice Graphics, but I think I'll pass.

I wish I saw this thread earlier.

I love the other game, but it was only for 360.
This one's for Wii too! Looks great.

Too bad they didn't keep the modern warfare theme though, back in WWII. Pacific War, so we'll be fighting Japanese!

Heck, I'm a sucker for WWII shooters. I'll be picking up a copy.

Nice find. I'm missing out on the COD 4 action but I'll squirrel some money away for COD:WaW

The title makes me think of Mongoose Publishings new World at War game for Battlefield Evo. Hmmmmm.

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/miniature/detail.php?qsID=1591&qsSeries=47

Just a ko-inky-dink in the names. Both WWII games. One video, one miniature. Both look good to me.

COD 4 was a great multiplayer game, even the campaign was really fun. And the only thing that was wrong in my opinion was that there was no co-op and the multiplayer got boring because of noobs. COD 5 has co-op which makes me so happy!!!!!!! I just hope they don't mess up going from modern combat to WWII because modern was awesome.
The only thing I'm worried about is that flame thrower. The shotgun was great for noobs and now they are given FIRE?!?!?!?!
I also say that I think you can stab people with BIG needles. It was in a game review. LOL.

The new Japanesse soldiers are gonna be great. The ability to climb trees, swim, and use swords (They mentioned that the Japanesse may have them) is just going to be awsome. I like the idea of the flamethrower, along with the vehicles in multiplayer. I can only get the Wii version, but just imagine the feeling of a flamethrower with the Zapper. So...cool...

Yea the flamethrower seems great, just wait till you have ten noobs on one map with it! Great....
I do like the vehicles though, it was really fun in BF: Bad Company to have vehicles in multiplayer, especially choppers.

If you go to the link in the first post and watch the co-op trailer on the site it is totally awesome!!!
First off there is 4 player co-op, BEAST!
Second off you get Experience in co-op!
And third the things it shows when you kill a guy and when you finish a mission looks very nice and fun.

I think I also saw were you don't just get 2 or 1 exp for an assist, I think you get points based on how much you hit the guy before someone else kills him, totally awesome because I get so many assists in COD4. Generally in the double digits every game, especially shipment were, last time, I got 35 assists on a late join!!!!!

Is it on the xbox 360? The beta?

jsilvrs
October 16th, 2008, 08:42 AM
Yes it is on the 360. Go to http://www.callofduty.com/hub to register. You can also get a beta code if you pre-order from GameStop.

Here is a link to the Beta FAQ http://www.callofduty.com/intel/143

If you were a member of the Charlie Oscar Delta site for COD4 last year, it will improve your chances of getting into the beta. Just link your account from last year. When I did this I got my beta token the next day.

I got a little time in with the beta last night. I thought it was pretty good. It reminds me a lot of COD4, but with WWII weapons. It is like they put a WWII skin on COD4. I still like the COD3 multiplayer better. I just really liked the different classes in that one. If I was having a bad game kill the other team, I could always switch to a medic and help out.

Right now the game limit is 12 players. I really hope they bump this up. War with on 6 on a team really doesn't feel like a war. Vehicles and capture the flag are both back.

I have only played the War mode where you capture 5 checkpoints. They have added a sudden death overtime if no one captures all 5 flags. It is a nice addition.

These are my impressions after only a few games.

Well it should be liek at most maybe 9 on 9?
You don't want a lot of nubs on one map, I'll have to get the beta then.
Is the cheack point thing like territories?

It is the War mode from COD3. There are five flags on a map. Both teams start with two flags. Only one map is open for capture at a time. When one team holds all five flags they win the game.

I've been playing COD4 since it first came out for the xbox 360. Beyond addicted to playing online. I am still working on getting all the golden guns without cheating. After seeing the dismal performance of COD3, I am still up in the air about CODW@W. With so many titles coming out or having just been released, it's hard to pick and choose as well. Alot of big name titles have either just been released or are coming out in the next 2 weeks. I don't mind the WWII thing, it's more how the game is executed. COD3, was far to easy even on the harder difficulties, the supposed multiple path thing was a joke, and it lacked the vibe of COD2 IMO. As addicted as I am to COD4, if this gets enough decent scores, I likely will end up picking this up, else, have no problem waiting for the next one.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but did you hear Radar after 3 kills and mortar (air strike) after 5 will still be there, but instead of a helicopter, the new ultimate reward is the ability to unleash a pack of attack dogs! How awsome is that?!

Yup, thats old news!
I GOT THE BETA!!!

The online play is really fun, War is by far the best and most fun game mode yet. I don't really like capture the flag much and War is so much fun.

If you get the BETA or are getting the game add me on XBL:

I think it looks fun. I enjoy CoD4. We shall have to see. I talked with a gamestore manager about the game and he played it and didn't think it was very good. A couple of playtesters were there as well and they had some issues with it.

Mainly I think it has to do with the dogs, which are replacing the helicopter supprot from CoD4. They say the dogs are too good. The game manager simply said that this game will be hyped up and played for a month or so, then everyone will go back to CoD4 because it's a superior game. We shall see.

Im just happy theres finally a anticipated game thats on PS2!

EDIT: I read that the whole game is not in the pacific, but also the eastern front.

EDIT 2:
PlayStation 2

The PlayStation 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_2) version, titled Call of Duty: World at War - Final Fronts, differs significantly from the main versions. Developed by Rebellion Developments (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebellion_Developments),[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_of_Duty_5#cite_note-wawre-Gspot-0) Final Fronts features 13 missions set near the end of World War II and provides a "companion experience" to World at War. Instead of only the US campaign in the Pacific and the Russian campaign in Eastern Europe, however, Final Fronts also includes a third campaign involving the British advance on the Rhine River.

I enjoyed playing it. The dogs were difficult, but not too bad. It's basically a rehash of Cod4 with new maps, skins, and weapons. it really isn't different. Vehicles aren't too big a deal either, which is nice.

I wish the various factions had different weapons though. Or something. Everyone has the same access to the same weapons, which I don't think is too accurate. It's still fun and the beta allows for a lot. You can customize everything, lots of perks, 3 maps, a lot.

I still recommend it and I'm looking forward to playing it more.

Out of curiosity, why did this thread die out exactly around the time the actual game came out?
I finally got an Elite for Christmas, and World at War with it. I still haven't got Live, so I can't enjoy it to the fullest potential, but the story sure is fun. The flamethrower easily makes the game, and the graphics are, amazingly, even better than Modern Warfare. Tanks are fun, airplanes are fun, dogs are fun, etc. etc. Although, as too not get into a huge rant, I'll just say Veteran is unnaturally, unfairly, and inhumanitarily hard!
So, how's everybody else doing?

My friend has this game. And all he plays is live...and Nazi Zombies, which you unlock after completing the game.

I didn't get it, 'cause I already have CoD4 and there is not too much of a difference between the two. Just the CoD4 engine in a 1940s skin....:?

Its fun overall, and hardcore mode is very fast paced. There are some things that are cheap and newby, but they are rare. I prefer modern or futuristic shooters though, like CoD 4 and Battlefield 2142 (my favorite shooter).

I just feel that I want to use new technology, and not have to deal with the problems of old technology, when I play a shooter. Who doesn't like automated sentry drones, deployable force shields, and battlewalkers anyways?

Ona, I will have to agree with you here. I'm sick of everyone complaining about their kids playing violent games. We have the ratings system in place for a reason. Use it.

Now, if everyone here under 17 has parental consent, that's a different story. If your parents agree, then fine, play it. But I don't want to hear paople complaining about it later.

Modern warfare 2 is coming out before christmas and will be WAY better than 4 and WaW. Why not just get Modern Warfare 2?
