Hey, I ws thinking of getting Guild Wars Factions, but then realized Guild Wars 2 was being released soon.

Should I wait for it to come out or should I get Factions?

Is there any reason to own the first Guild Wars if I own the second?

GW2 isn't coming out anytime soon. We won't see it until sometime in 2009, if that.

As far as which of the campaigns to buy first, I'd recommend Nightfall. The ability to play w/ Heroes in your party is priceless. They're all great campaigns and the first one (Prophecies) has a special place in my heart for nostalgia's sake, but Nightfall would be a great first-campaign to own.

Happy GWing!

I don't have too much valuable information to share with you on the subject, but I'm going to agree with the previous poster and say Nightfall. Starting with the "core" game (Prophecies) kind of soured me to the game, by the time I tried an expansion (which are much more polished and well-rounded), I was done. At no fault of the expansion.'

edit: Clarification: When I just re-read my post, it seems awfully negative. It's not a bad game, I just don't like the "base" game as much. They really learned alot by the time they made the expansions, and they added alot of good content to the game. By that point though, I was just mentally done with the game. If you jump in with Nightfall, you should have a good time :)

Guild wars 2 still isn't out and its 2010 lol. Well if you haven't gotten it yet, you might not want to. It takes a lot of time to put into it if you want the titles. In guild wars 1 there is a Hall Of Monuments in it's only expansion (Eye Of The North) which characters from any of the 3 campaigns (Core Games) can go to. The Hall Of Monuments stores trophies for all your achievements in the game which convert into reward points for Guild Wars 2, the max is 50 points. As your points increase you unlock new rewards (for example at 1-5 points you unlock Heritage Armor pieces) The rewards consist of Mini pets, armor sets, titles, weapons/shields, and other things that can be used by all of your guild wars 2 characters. All of the rewards are exclusive and won't be found anywhere else in Guild Wars 2. All of your GW1 characters achievements combine into 1 big reward score, which can be seen on the reward calculator at guildwars2.com. Unfortunately at this point it might not be worth the time to work on those titles because they do take time and can get boring if you are making multiple characters.
