Is it possible that this 50 point squad could bring down these beasts with ease? True, Jotun can throw them, but outside of that, how would these melee giants fare against the elven warriors?

Krug would have the worse time of the two since he doesn't have any special atacks to get past their special ability. Jotun could still use his special attack to prevent them from using their special ability.

Yup, Jotun would still do great against them using Throw and Wild Swing

I hate the fact that the Warriors of Ashra can slaughter squads of knights and Romans, those being my two favorite melee squads. Guess they are super chicks or something. Lame.

120 points worth of Ashra warriors (2 1/2 squads almost) would kick the crap out of Krug.
That's what they were designed for - and that's cool.

I agree, I like it as well.
If you can get them to Krug and keep ranged attacks off of them, they should be able to take down the big guy. The KMA have the 1 shield negates all wounds from ranged attacks, so it makes sense to have one that does the same against melee attacks.

I totally agree that the warriors of Ashra are Krug killers, though the Ninjas of the Northern Wind fare well against the giants as well using their disappearing act.

I think your right, they would hurt krug. Now if you got krug bonding with the arrow grunts you should be able to get height on them and hopefully take a few out so krug isn't swarmed, if you go the swogg around you could easliy run interferance for the big guy and the gruts become dangerioous with a swogg or 2 around.

My only concern is that they are common. KM Agents are unique. I think a common squad with a "one shield blocks all damage" ability is a potential nightmare of frustration.
But I'll reserve final judgement until I run them through some good games.

IT'll just take them way longer to be able to use that power, and they might get killed en route.

Combo the Warriors with the Deathreavers to keep the ranged guys busy and you have a most effective combo! :chainsaw:

Keep this in mind, guys... EVERY unit in this game has a Nemesis. If that wasn't the case, then certain units would be too powerful and unbalanced. The beauty of the game is that no ONE unit can dominate ALL the others, but EVERY unit in the game is able to dominate SOME.
Who's the ying to their yang?
For the WoA, they can, one-on-one, dominate Krug... But if Krug has Orc Archer backup to bond with, Krug+Orc Archers will dominate the WoA.
(by the way, with Krug doing his double attack every turn on the WoA, they are still bound to whiff at some point... 3 Defense dice often show a "lot of blue"....)

that is true, I think the warriors of ashra will still damage krug, but only to 3-6 wounds, considering his double attack and their ability to fail

the minute men are one of the best units in the game, because of their ability to not gather many nemesis', but Id got with the venoc vipers on this one, one of my favorite armies.

Similar to taking on the samuri, they just don't wanna seem to die. Well, at least the warriors dont bite back.

I don't think a unit can be a counter for itself. That's practially the definition of overpowered. The AE are a good thought. However, with only four of them, a ginormous squad of MM will still pose problems...

Anyway in the Gencon tourney I saw many AE drop and lob grenades decimating the masses of 4th. I saw it happen so many times I started to wonder if it was the AE that should get a good discussion about power.

Actually I kind of agree with you there as well. Next to the MM, the AE are possibly the most overpowered right now. On certain maps, they can be close to unstoppable.

Syv, DW8K, Q9, KMA, AE, AA, just to name a few.... if you pick ranged units with 7+ range, they will force the 4th mass to move to attack, thus negating their +1A from "Wait the Fire"... and with their low defense, they are easy to pick off, and if they are in an all valiant army to get the +1D, then they obviously don't have Marcus or Tae to boost their move/attack, so aren't as much of an offensive threat.
Once you knock off one or two of the "front-line" 4th Mass, they lose much of their power in the "skirmish" zone due to then having to move up reinforcements (no "wait then fire" bonus), and no longer having 4 shots per turn available... it's all about using good tactics to negate their numerical advantage and attack bonus...
The 4th Mass are tough, no doubt. but they do have weaknesses that are easy to exploit with the right 7+ range units and good battle tactics.
For example, who would win the following?
KMA, AE, AA = 280pts
4 squads MM = 280pts
I would bet money on the KMA/AE/AA.... they would consistently outrange the 4th Mass, AE also has 4 attacks/turn + grenade, AA potentially has 6 or more attacks per turn, KMA has better defense/Attack/Range....
But again, I agree the 4th Mass rock! But they aren't broken. They're not all-powerful. They DO have weaknesses that are easy to exploit.
