Has anyone else picked up MGS4 yet?

I waited in line for 3 hours to pick up the PS3 MGS4 bundle pack at Gamestop. Believe me, it was well worth the wait.

I would honestly give this game an 11 if it was possible, but what does everyone else think?

Do your like it?
Has it lived up to the hype?
Has anyone tried multi-player yet?
Are you happy with how the story line wraps up? (no spoliers please, some might not have finished the game yet)
Does this set a new standard for the genre? Games in general?

I just hope I'm not the only one on 'scapers who owns this title.

I've gotten it, but it's mostly my brother who plays it. However, I enjoy watching him play and watching the cutscenes. We haven't finished yet (we've just finished act two), but we're almost half-way there.
Anyways, Laughing Octopus is freaky. "LAUGH WITH ME!" is probably her best line, and that's not saying too much, since she really isn't that interesting of a character storyline wise... but she's sure fun to fight!

Bloody, could you PM with how you beat Laughing Octopus. I think I beat her in an interesting way. I want to see if that affected the cut scenes or the loot in any way. I refuse to look at guides, since that might give away too much story.

So, over last night and today, we managed to beat Acts 3 and 4. In particular, Act 4 is full of awesome.
As for my favorite fight, it would probably be the last boss fight in Act 4 that I won't spoil. Besides that, though, it would probably go to Crying Wolf.

I haven't beaten it yet, I'm taking my time with it. But I must say that it's been a very, very good game thus far and I'm sure it won't disappoint as far as wrapping things up. I've heard people say that they have actually cried at the end. So I doubt it can disappoint me.

Me and my brother beat it about 3 days ago, with him starting a new file with all our stuff 2 days ago (we haven't played today yet). It is a GREAT game, really. The Emblems we got were the Inchworm (Crawl for more than one hour) and Jaguar.
Anyways, in case you need help on Crying Wolf and Screaming Mantis, I've got how we beat them (note that the Screaming Mantis one has minor spoilers). I'm putting them in spoilers in case you want to do them yourself. Still, if you get stuck, you can refer to this.
Crying Wolf:
For Crying Wolf, Do NOT fight her in outside the truck or the towers. She has an attack that can instant kill you, an endless supply of FROGs, and does a lot more damage to you than you do to her that way. In addition, always have the Solid Eye equipped and on Night Vision so you can actually see. Do one of the two:
1. Hide under the truck and equip a sniper rifle (Any if you're not going for the figurine, the Mosin Nagrant if you are). Wait for her to come (you won't be seen, since if you have FaceCamo on you have a 99% Camo rating), and then shoot the white things you see on her side. She'll charge randomly, but she'll miss since you're under the truck. Occasionally, instead of doing that, she'll get out of her suit and try to shoot you with the railgun. Can you say Headshot?
2. Go into the towers. They have some nice items, and you have a wider field of view. Of course, while it won't last as long, Crying Wolf still likes to throw grenades up there, so yeah.
Doing either of those two means that chances are she won't hit you. The Tower is slightly more dangerous, but you probably still won't get hit.
Screaming Mantis:
For Screaming Mantis, immediately inject yourself with the Syringe to make it so you can actually hit her. Or rather, her dolls - the only way to win this fight is to hit the doll that's glowing orange. Still, chances are you killed the FROGs unless you're going for a no-kill game, so the dead bodies are chasing you around. If that's the case, hit the blue doll first.
Eventually, when one gets hit enough, she has Meryl point her gun at herself. Quickly get over there, CQC her with no weapon equipped (but make sure the Syringe IS equipped!) and inject the Syringe into her. Continue shooting whatever doll you were shooting before, taking care to inject yourself with the Syringe if you're hit by her ghostly projectiles. Eventually, the doll you're shooting will fall off. Grab it quickly to get the doll.
If you shot the Blue Doll (The Sorrow Doll) first, you have to shoot the Orange Doll next - however, if you got into a position where you shot the Blue Doll first, Meryl should be the only person she can control. Continue shooting the doll until the Orange Doll (Psycho Mantis Doll) drops, and then pick it up.
Then, equip the Psycho Mantis Doll and fire it using the instructions that it gives you when you get the doll. When Screaming Mantis gets hit, hold L1 and shake the controller in exaggerated, long strokes. She'll lose all her Psyche, and the battle ends. The Psycho Mantis Doll is the ONLY way to damage Screaming Mantis, so don't try to hit her with anything else - just hit those dolls!

I don't have this game, but I sure do love it. In fact, I would go as far to say that this is the best game since orcarina. This game really changed my view of the ps3.

vote this game(or another one) as the game of the year

I would love to play this but I have no access to a PS3. Also, I haven't gotten to play MGS2 or MGS3 yet so I have no idea who Raiden is or what would be going on in the story. I'm trying to find cheap copies since they're so old now.

I read the Crying Wolf hints and I must say I did it a totally different way. I'll keep it simple so not to spoil too much, but it was on foot with big firepower. I got shot a few times, but I think I only needed one ration. It did take like 10-15 minutes though.

Does anyone play MGO? (Metal Gear Online?)

On there, I am Flame Gryphon, and made my debut Tuesday, June 24th.... last night, in the map Blood Bath.

I'm thinking of buying a PS3 but before I do i need an opinion on this game. What would you guy rate this game out of ten?

I would give it a ten out of ten EASY. I got this the day it came out. (would have got it midnight but mom wouldn't let me lol) The Metal Gear Solid series is my favorite game series, they seem to get better with each game. For a while one was my favorite, the 2, then 3, now 4! It's amazing in every way. I beat it once already, now I'm trying to beat it on Big Boss extreme (or whatever the hardest mode is called) with no kills. I'm on act 3...again, so pm and I'll give you help with any part I can. For me Vamp was the hardest, just because I could'nt figure out what to do. But when I did, I was like "DUH!"

This game cruises to a 10. It could even screw a few things up and still get a 10. This is a must have for the PS3 and right now it stands a pretty good chance at winning Game of the Year. That says alot too, we have had GTA IV this year and I think Fallout3 is releasing this year as well.

I haven't touched online mode yet but the single player alone is worth at least 3 playthroughs.

For me Vamp was the hardest, just because I could'nt figure out what to do. But when I did, I was like "DUH!"

I figured it out I just couldn't get in the right spot to do it. I had to waste the guy like 6 times.

Funny, for us Vamp was pretty much the second easiest boss (Crying Wolf was the easiest because we hid under the truck). Shoot him until he dies, walk up to him with the syringe equipped, and the minute he gets up, put him in the CQC chokehold and stab him with your medicine. We figured that out in five seconds.
Yeah, this game quite easily gets a 10 out of 10. Giving it anything else means... wait, why WOULD you give this game anything else? It deserves the 10.

Flame Gryphon had a good idea. What is everyones MGO names? I have been using SolidusD@ace. Yes that is an @ sign in the middle of my call sign. We should get a little group of Scapers on MGO going, it would be nice to play with reasonable people. Something happens to people when you give them a game, a mic, and anonymity.

Considering how much time has gone by since you asked this, you've probably already made your decision one way or the other. However, I would like to give you my opinion in the off chance that you have not yet.

I would give it a realistic 8/10. I am a huge fan of the series, but I don't think it's worth 10/10, since that would take a game with no flaws, and we all know that's pretty near impossible. The only thing that really made it 8/10 in my book was the fact that the last three Acts were too short. Other than that, the game was AWESOME!

In any case, my screenname for MGO is...can you guess...holylink718! I bet you'd never have figured it out. 8)

My psn is the same thing, so if anyone ever wants to chat, send me a message.

How many of you guys have managed to get the Big Boss emblem? I finally sat down and got it a few days ago. I wouldn't call it easy, but it didn't take as long as I thought...only about 8 hours of playing (not actual gametime, of course).
