View Full Version : Questions on my new figures (W5 and R's Vision)

I just got some wave 5 figures, as well as Raknar's Vision (giant figs), and have a few rules questions:
1. Nakita Agents: Are they really Charlie's Angels? Heh, just kidding. Actually, my question is about the Smoke Powder. Does it negate the attack that activates it? Meaning when they are targeted by an attack, and the smoke powder works, does that attack just fail, or can the opponent then choose a different target?
2. Nilfheim: Regarding Ice Shard Breath Special Attack (phew, long name), does the wording "he may attack 2 additional times" mean attack with the Ice Shard Breath, or normal attacks as well?
3. There is no number 3... sorry :)
Thanks in advance for the answers/opinions. I'm looking forward to using Braxas (my primary enemy loves using squads, heh heh).

I sent an email asking about this to Hasbro and I got this response today:
Hi thehandofzarquon,
Thank you for contacting Hasbro with your question on Heroscape! I'm more than happy to help.
You are reading the rules correctly. it If the Nakita Agents roll successfully for Smoke Powder, all it does is block their hit zones, just like if they were behind ruin or castle wall all of a sudden.
The Targeting/Attacking figure does not loose their ability to attack per se, they just loose the ability to attack all Nakita Agents you control, and all figures that you control adjacent to those Nakita Agents for the rest of their turn. They can then target any other opponent's figure within range.
I hope that answers your question(s). If there is anything else I can help you with, please visit www.hasbro.com or respond to this e-mail.
So, yes, you can choose a new target when the Smoke Powder triggers.

The other two attacks are with the Ice Shard Breath Special Attack. And, yes, it is a long name, but at least it isn't cheesy like "Ullar Enhanced Rifle Special Attack" :P

Looks like we have competing "letters from Hasbro on Smoke Power. See below. It was originally posted in the "Wave 5 stats (now with pics too)" topic, page 26:

The card says "For the duration of the targeting figure's turn". When a squad takes a turn, they move together, then attack together. That figures "turn" isn't over until all Mass 4th figures have attacked.
In other words, as soon as a Nakita Agent rolls for Smoke Powder against a squad figure and is successful, it takes effect for the rest of the turn for that squad. Mass 4th "B" would be unable to attack unless he was adjacent to a Nakita Agent, or any adjacent figure covered under the smoke powder.
I hope that answers your question(s). If there is anything else I can help you with, please visit www.hasbro.com or respond to this e-mail.
Who do ya, who do ya, who do ya believe? These two "Hasbro answers" conflict.

I see nothing conflicting in the two answers. One deals with the duration of the Smoke Powder, the other deals with whether or not the attack that triggered it is wasted...
If you are talking about the Mass 4th "B" comment, it sounds like nothing else was in range of the Mass 4th "B". At least by the way it is worded.

...
First, welcome to the site, Bishop136!
Nilf's Ice Shard special attack allows him to attack 2 additional times with that attack only. Also note that he must target a new figure for each attack (that's 3 different figures for a full use of the attack.) So if he is engaged with only one figure and decides to use the Ice Shard special attack he must kill that figure on the first attack or he forfeits any extra attacks with his special attack. Nilf does have a very nice attack value so sometimes it's just best to smack down with 6 dice (7 with height) than to use the Ice Shard.

Actually, you can use Special Attacks to attack out of engagement... From the official Hasbro FAQ:
Can Deadeye Dan use his Sharpshooter special power on one opponent when still engaged to a different opponent?
Yes! Remember, you can use special powers and abilities that affect ranged opponents while still engaged to other opponents. Special powers/abilities are NOT affected by engagement rules; only attacks.

This one confuses everyone:
Sharpshooter is a Special Abiltity NOT a Special Attack. If engaged, DED can use Sharpshoot, but he CANNOT use Ullar Enhanced Rifle. UER is a Special Attack and therefore is still restricted by engagement rules. Similarly, Nilfheim's Ice Shard is a Special Attack that cannot be used out of Engagement, but Braxas's Poison Breath is a Special Ability that can.

Ah I see. Seems like a weird wording, then. I suppose I should be used to that from Hasbro by now, though.. ^_^;

The two aren't in conflict because the 4th Mass question was whether other 4th mass could target Nakita agents that had successfully smoke powdered (their noses)
In this case, if there were other units in range of the 4th mass, but not adjacent to Nakita Agents, the 4th Mass could attack them.
