I got an email from them today saying they are delayed and shipping 8/29-9/4. I must not have been the earliest of the early orderers.

ahhh, that would explain it. I was able to get in at the 24.95 price with a 40$ credit for signing up for an amazon visa. 10$ for two castles was too damn good to pass up.

I ordered mine from housemousegames and then i go out the next day and find three castle sets sitting on the shelf at wal mart. I thought of cancelling my order but I dont mind paying a little extra if it from sandra.

Rant Begins:
Su_Nan,
I'm glad that you decided to look at it that way. I was not happy to learn of this development either, and despite the fact that I now have one full set of Wave 5 and am actively looking for castles, I'll not cancel my order w/Sandra.
Honestly, if I did this, the entire D/FW crew would be after me, but even if it was just for me, I wouldn't do it. Why? Because this is not her fault. It's absolute bull**** on the part of Hasbro. I even understand that they're "marketing to this child and that..." ad infinitum, ad nauseum. WTF-EVER!
There are people on this site, and I'm one of them, who have put the children of Hasbro employees through college with our purchases, and this is the thanks we get? I'm all for the game living on by getting it on the shelves, but come the F on! You couldn't give up enough to get Sandra taken care of and then market this and market that.
The main person who got screwed here was Sandra, herself. She missed GenCon in anticipation of selling Hasbro's stuff, all the while selling Hasbro's stuff by sponsoring the tourneys, and this is the thanks she gets?
The whole thing really pisses me off, but not at Sandra. So again, I commend your decision. I hope that everyone else will follow your example.
:Rant Ends.

:soapbox:I am as upset as you are ninthdoc, but it is NOT Hasbro!! It is Walmart. They threaten Hasbro and they have the pull. Have you noticed how much MORE space Heroscape is taking up on the Walmart shelves now that the Castles are coming? We almost doubled our shelf space!!! That is what Walmart is probably using as leverage. I think Walmart knows how popular these Castle packs are going to be.

I think the folks who ordered with Sandra should stick with it. They probably would not save much with Wal-mart if they could find them. I only got my castles at Wal-mart because I could not spend the money in the summer to preorder them combo with House Mouse (wife's a school teacher, no pay in summer). Once wave 5 comes in, I may be placeing an order next month.

Unfortunately Sandra doesn't have the leverage Wal-Mart has, she is but one online shop where as WM has thousands of stores to stock. She caters to Hasbro where as Hasbro caters to Wal-Mart. This is but one benefit WM has as being the biggest retailer in the WORLD. It sucks, but it's a fact. What's even worse of the whole ordeal is Sandra has still not received any castles yet, while WM has had to have them sitting in their warehouses for at least a little while and are now getting them out on shelves.

The easiest way to redress the balance is to buy LESS at Walmart, not more. If you buy your castles there, it's rewarding Walmart for pulling this stunt; you're saying "I'm GLAD that you are the biggest, I want you to get bigger".
If instead you decide to buy 10% LESS at Walmart for the next couple of months, or decide to never again buy HS at Walmart, then (i) chances are, they'll never notice, but (ii) you are actively punishing them for their misbehaviour.
I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that huge enterprises like Walmart are acting like - and should be treated as - toddlers. They think that the universe revolves around them, and for as long as we reinforce their point of view it will remain correct. It's only when they see consumers' attention drifting away from them that they are forced to grow up and evaluate what it is that really justifies our spending money with them.

I've come up with my own unique solution for "getting even" with Walmart: I'm going to invest my entire 401(k) plan in their common stock. With my impeccable market timing and just plain "good luck" when it comes to investing in the stock market, Walmart will surely be out of business within a year. Then we won't have any more of these distribution problems. :D

I'm not cancelling my order with Sandra either. With the large shipment I ordered I only ended up paying 10 dollars more than I would have if I bought it in Walmart.
I'd much rather give my money to her than Walmart.
I'll wait.

If I find them at Wal-Mart I'll buy 'em and then return to WM my Amazon order when it comes out. I'll enjoy the castle "on the float" while sticking it to "the man" with his 90 day return policy.

Please don't, I'm counting my investments lasting. Hey I may not like WAL*TARD but I really need to be able to retire someday, :)
If it makes you feel better I have money in Disney that's still 3 points down from my origional investment from a few years ago, :(

Hey everybody. If you decide to get your castles through amazon please use the link through on the home page of the site. It throws a little towards the site when you do. You can also link through and get anything else you were going to buy through amazon with or without getting the castle and the site gets a percentage of the sale.

I LOVE YOU SANDRA!
This is how stock always works for me. I gave up on the stock market plan years ago, I don't enjoy researching it and that is part of what you have to do for successful investing. I have a retirement plan that is in some nice growth funds. I have it split up nicely so there is a small chance in heck it will grow, even if my normal luck holds out.
Ok, but seriously every one. Use that Amazon link that Truth put up for whatever you may be buying through Amazon. He gets a little percentage that adds up. I hear they have a pretty good price on diapers! I'm gonna go get some Frontline for the kritter clan of the house.

Highly unlikely. I was messing around last week trying to see when an order would ship if I were to place one for castles. The esitmated arrival date came up something like October 15th
I dunno if that is when you would actually get them, but I am sure it will take at least a few weeks to get castles if you were to order through Amazon. A better bet would probably be to just look around in in your area. I know last week I could find castles at any local stores, but yesterday and today they seemed to have stocked them and I managed to score a few. I would suggest checking locak Wal-Marts and possibly Targets if you havn't in awhile.
