If I remember correctly, this is the 3rd of the seris.

My friend had this a few years back and I really liked it, but couldnt get it myself because didn't really have a computer at my house for "video games". The comp at my house is used less now and I was thinking about getting this game. Now I'm not computer savey when it comes to comp games. So my question is what would be a good comupter to run that game on?

I'm not really sure how to word my question, because like I said I'm not computer savey. Does anyone here understand that and able to help me?

I said make because it costs less to buy separate parts for a good computer than to buy one. However, it would require you to do a some research and learn how to put a computer together.

For this game:
Minimum System Requirements:
400 MHz Pentium II or equivalent, or a 400 MHz G3 processor or better.
Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP. Warcraft III requires Mac OSŪ 9.0 or higher, or Mac OS XŪ 10.1.3 or higher
Warcraft III requires 128 MB of RAM. Virtual Memory should be enabled on computers running pre-Mac OS X versions of the Mac OSŪ.
A keyboard and mouse are required.
A hard drive with at least 550 MB of free space

8MB 3D video card (TNT, i810, Voodoo 3, Rage 128 equivalent or better) with DirectX 8.1 support. For Mac OSŪ systems, a video card consisting of an ATI Technologies or nVidia chipset with at least 16 MB of memory is required.
A DirectX-compatible 16-bit sound card is recommended. Warcraft III will work with the built-in sound features of the Mac OSŪ.
Recommended System Requirements:
600 MHz processor or better
256 MB of RAM
32 MB 3D Video card

intel celeron CPU 2.4 Ghz - would that work?

224 Mb RAM- and that is how much we have on the comp installed

if I install the game would it make my computer run really slow if I use the minimal amount of RAM?

EDIT: also, do I need the first two versions to play this one because it is a upgrade? or can I just play it as a game itself

You definitely want so more ram, and a better cpu. You don't have to get Warcraft 1 or 2, just warcraft 3 and the expansion (frozen throne). If you get the battlechest it comes with both the game and the expansion.

Yea, one good thing about blizzard games is that they run excellent on mediocre computers. Probably one of the reasons they sell so many games! I'll reiterate what donaldb said. You'll need some more RAM, at least 512 to run Warcraft III. I'm gonna diassagree about the CPU though. I ran WCIII perfectly on my old HP which only had a 800MHz CPU. It ran fine. Although Celeron's are weak processors you should be fine in that department. No need to upgrade the CPU in my opinion.

I know this will probably sound really bad, but how do I get more RAM on my computer?

These might help you out if you've never done it before. It's probably the easiest upgrade you could give a computer.

How to Install RAM (http://www.ehow.com/how_895_install-ram.html?ref=fuel&utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=ssp&utm_campaign=yssp_art)
How to Install RAM II (http://lifehacker.com/software/feature/hack-attack-how-to-install-ram-138665.php)

You can use this site to see what kind of RAM you need and your RAM capacity. http://www.crucial.com/# . Just click on SCAN MY SYSTEM and download and run the .exe that prompts you. It's safe so don't worry about that.
