View Full Version : Questions about GreyOwl's Warbound Hulk

Has anybody else played much with the Warbound Hulk? Wow, what a killing machine. We used him in a 4-player brawl last night and he was unstoppable, especially after taking a few hits. It generated a few questions, the most pertinent of which is:
How many times can he use the Frenzied Anger ability?
The way the card is written, it seems to last as long as Hulk is able to roll greater than a 16 after each turn on the d20. This number drops to as low as an 8 when the Hulk has taken 8 of his 9 hits. He literally becomes an unstoppable killing machine, hitting with 15 dice...
My 7-year-old son loves him, but I can't come up with a force to stop him for 420 points. He seems to be worth more like 600 or so to me.
As a tempering factor, we decided that one extra turn was all he was allowed, and that the bonus attack die only applied to the Frenzied (second) attack, with the first attack at normal strength. He still wiped the floor with everyone.
I searched the forums for a discussion of this card, but found none, so I thought I'd start one.

Yeah, +1A/+1D, +1 Life, Frenzy (with bonus!), and no limit on the number of extra attack dice seems a LITTLE good for a mere 50 points over the official version. :? This is why I would only play with customs that have been through a thorough TNT process.

Totally. I could see him going for somewhere near 500 points, especially with the high (and increasing) likelihood that he'll be moving attacking more than once a turn. Plus, 7 defense and 9 life?!? It's like he's the Incredible Hulk or something...
Oh...
And, it's all good, Crispy. I just remembered having seen the card and looked it up again when you posted this.

Thanks for the understanding, and I know the TNT heroes are solid; there just aren't enough of them. I'm a sucker (I admit it) for GreyOwl's cards; beautiful to look at, and fun to play.
We use the TNT Nightcrawler all the time and absolutely love it! Perfect feel for this favorite character.
Just thought I'd see if anyone else had used the Warbound and found a way to make it fit in.

I admit that I haven't had a chance to play this card yet, and based on the feedback I'm hearing the point cost does seem too low. Rather than raise the cost much higher, I'd prefer to lower or rework some of the abilities instead. I will work on it when I get a chance and post an update as soon as I can...

Here's a reworked card. I tempered the Frenzied Anger ability and also bumped the cost up a little.

Please let me know if this works better. I really appreciate any feedback on my cards - it really helps to improve them. I classify my cards into 3 categories of "readiness": TNT (of which there are only 2), Playtested by me and friends (of which there are about 20 or so), and not playtested at all. Unfortunately, most of them (like this one) fall into the third category so if anyone plays them, I love to hear any constructive feedback!
