Just because they have as many calls as they say, it doesn't state that many people call numerous times which clearly changes the number of callers.
Many people that call are also in the younger age range and don't count towards being able to vote either.

I know what you mean, I cheered when he (it?) got voted off. It was getting tough to even look at that. Show is much less disturbing now.
Some truly stellar performances this season, highlighted by David Archuleta's "Imagine" and David Cook's "Billie Jean."

I'll admit, I love this show. Its fun, theres some great singers, and it brings a lot of people together to discuss. Almost everyone I know watches it, and we all talk about it. I like David Cook the most, and you haters have to admit. Hes good. Listen to him. I also like Michael Johns, and Carly Smithson.

I watch it. I just like music in general, so as long as they don't botch the song up (Amanda Overmyer, stop screaming at me. I know you want to be a rock star, but that is not how a rock star sings. Live with it.), I'm fine with it.

I enjoy the performance shows, but I can't stand the elimination shows. It should only take 10 minutes tops to announce who is voted off, even with dramatic pauses and Ryan's lame attempts at besting Simon in a battle of wits. I usually just check the internet sometime before I go to bed to see who is out. (checks now....) Wow, it was Chikezie. That's a bit of a surprise. I also find it somewhat ironic that they make America listen again to the singer that they've just voted off the show because they didn't like the way they sing.
I've never voted, by the way.
Is there a thread yet for "Moment of Truth?" What a strange little show that is. Sort of a cross between Jeopardy and Jerry Springer. I can't watch that human trainwreck.

Not too surprised about Chikezie getting voted off... Kristy Lee Cooke has deserved to go for a few weeks now, but after singing a song praising America - on American Idol - she got to stick around without even being in the bottom 3 this time.
I thought Malubi (sp?) should have gone home, but Chikezie would have been gone within a couple weeks anyway. He only had one great performance all year: the top 12 Beatles week.
That singer last night, Kimberly Locke or whatever.... was she bad or what? Stick to the restaurant biz. I agree the vote off shows are too long and they drag on with usually 45 minutes of filler, at least.

Since I found this (http://www.dialidol.com/asp/predictions/Predictions.asp) I haven't felt the need to watch an elimination show. Then again I haven't really watched the performances either, so I'm good.

Yeah, of what I've seen, Simon is the only one with good advice. Ignore Paula, ad Randy just says if he likes the song or not...
I don't really watch the show, though. My mother always does, so I catch it a little, sometimes. It's not my kind of music on there anyway.

You can vote many times.
It's still uber popular of course and one of the most watched shows around but I didn't think it was 35 million viewers strong.

First of all, I love the American Idol thread here. For two years I've seen people knock it on these forums for no reason other than it is very popular. Or that's the way it always seemed to me.
Anyway, my votes have been going to Jason Castro and Brooke White. Both of their performances this week were great. I love that style of music. That was a bold move with "Over the Rainbow," I thought. And "You've Got a Friend" always seems to put me in a better mood. Archuleta is God-awful. I can't get into his stuff at all. And of course he got rave reviews this week. EVERYTHING that kid sings is "inspirational." And Kristy is the weakest link on the show, no doubt about it. The fact that Carly will get voted off first most likely is indeed a travesty.
One more thing. People always moan "I wish that many people voted for President." I'm sure that many people do. You see, on American Idol you can vote as many times as you want. For an election, you can only vote once. So when folks make that statement, it doesn't really make a lot of sense. Of course Idol gets thirty million votes or whatever, but some people might vote 50 times. I wish I could vote 50 times for President.

Well, as a huge Broadway fan, especially Phantom, I was disgusted by many of these performances. Sysesha blew me away (in a good sense), and David Cook (Whom I usually dislike) was perhaps the best performer for Music of the Night. David A. will probably just get by with a popularity factor.
And Brooke? I usually like her, but tonight was her worst yet, and not because of the stop in the beginning. It was too strained, as Simon said.

Big Phantom fan here as well, and I didn't enjoy much of any of it. Cook was alright, as was Syesha. Brooke's performance had me ready to :bang: for real. Something just didn't mix well with the performers and the stage show atmosphere (ironically).

Well, no big surprise tonight. Next week will be interesting.
I a bit torn between the two Davids. Lil' Dave has a great voice and would no doubt sell a ton of CD's. Big Dave certainly can sing too, though he seems to struggle when he's not belting out the higher notes.
Hopefully the "song" that they both will sing won't be as lame as some have been in the past. I think "I Want to Be Inside your Heaven" is one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

I'd rather be the broke BAMF. I don't need no money for what I wanna do!
As for AI itself, with Syesha out I have no desire to watch. Although, I will admit to amazement that she was around as long as she was dodging the dreaded "bottom two/three" bullet for as long as she did! I am predicting that five years from now Syesha will be around much more than the two Davids ...

I think Cook will outlast everyone from this season regardless of the outcome.

Blegh. Perhaps in San Francisco and West Hollywood ...

The top few. Heres where I see them in a few years.
David Cook: Hes a rocker. i see him releasing big CDs, and having a nice Career.
David A: The thing is, what would his CD be? He sings the same sappy gushy love songs while gasping for air. Once we are hearing his voice only, and not seeing his face, I cant see a long career.
Syeshia:Shes a good singer, but honestly, I see her going broadway. Its been forshadowed for ever. The broadway week was her best, and she has that kind of voice.
Jason: Hes a pot head. He will probably be like Bob Marley, minus the talented career. Hes not a bad singer, but he lacks modivation.

Cook wins. A bit of a surprise to me, actually, although he would have been my choice it I were to vote.

I wanted Archuleta to win, but Cook is a great singer, too.

I'd vote for David just 'cause we have the same last name.
EDIT: The "Cook" David, not the "Archuleta" one :)

I think I agree with all of that, but I can see David Archuletta making it in the Clay Aiken, Josh Groban segment of the market(there is another one that is big right now that my wife could name, but I don't pay attention to them). There are plenty of women that are all over that type of music. If one of them would get a decent blues guitarist my wife might actually succeed in dragging me to a concert (ie there's no chance in hell).

So who is the new judge? Is she going to be on all year or only pre-Hollywood? Is she the replacement for Paula, since Paula is supposedly leaving after this year?

Paula is leaving? Who will awkwardly clap their hands above their head when happy and critique performances that haven't happened yet when sad?

Okay, so my favorite as of now I probably Danny Gokey. I'm pretty surprised his friend didn't make it to the top 36. I also like Anoop, and yes, I'd like him even if he wasn't a UNC student. :p
I'm not sure I have a favorite girl as of yet, but I cannot stand that Tatiana chick. I might have to fast-forward through at least her interviews. lol
