Cruising GamingReport.com's (http://www.gamingreport.com/) picture coverage of GenCon (someone needs to teach their photographers how to take closeup pictures of miniatures; their quality is spotty), I found Dark Platypus Studio (http://www.dark-platypus.com/default.htm)'s 'Flexible Dungeons':

It looks to be a set of linking wall tiles, with the links forming hinges, allowing chains of tiles to form rooms:

Assuming that the wall 'unit' is a scale ten-foot wall section, the prices are fairly reasonable for cast-metal sections; if the sections fit cleanly along the HeroScape tile borders, then buying them to use for walls custom-fit to individual maps would be a viable option.

Interesting find. It is a shame they are cast metal, because those hinges will probably break if you are not careful.
This would work much better (and probably be cheaper) in pre-painted plastic.
It would be nice if the HS designers noticed this and did their own HS version.

The link I gave for Dark Platypus works if you take off the 'default.htm' at the end of the URL; the link specifically to the Flexible Dungeons page is here (http://www.dark-platypus.com/flexibledungeons.htm).

that looks awesome. I've actually started thinking about using linking logs to make buildings and the such.

To save money if I were interested in making a modular dungeon I would just go purchase a sheet of dow board (insulation board) and cut long and short wall lengths out of it. Score it, paint it black, drybrush grey and white. Then put some weight at the bottom. If you were to do this your self you could make more then you need for under $20.
I can see these things falling over when you bump the table, or worse yet if they got wore out you wouldn't be able to stand them up straight.

From the photos, you can see that they have flanges on the base, so they don't rely on having corners to hold them up -- although I wouldn't bet heavily on their stability in a long line if you bump them much.

I like the idea, but 1) metal is too expensive, Annerios is right, they should be plastic. And 2) I could make my own out of foamcore board, insulation board (as BC suggested), or even plywood. And it would be easy.
And I might just do that, come to think of it.

Some plastic pieces that slide in as walls into the existing HS terrain hexes would be great. It would not be hard for Hasbro to do a "Dungeonscape" variant or expansion. I am sure Craig and co have thought of it; I just hope it makes it to our gaming tables sometime soon.
