Just showing off.

Table was inspired by this one:
http://www.wizkidsgames.com/mechwarrior/documents/Katlas_Terrain.pdf

It's heavy, but my weak arms can carry it with one hand.

Pics of it open. Since the surface is rather bumpy, the table's cap can be used as a dice tray.

Extra mesa. I plan to make a couple more.

Bannson's Raiders ambush the ghost bears.

Sadly, thanks to a math screw up, the play area is 36x37 and not 36x36 like it's suppose to be.

Some custom buildings made from Mirco Machines buildings with extra details added using left over bits from N scale building kits.

Demolished building for train sets modded to have a dead mech in it.

Nice table, Darkspade! Reminds me of one my father made for me and m friends when we were younger. For our army men. But yours folds up! Too cool.

There's more I could do with it, but I've decided to call this one finished since it was more of a test to see how I could do it. Really, the hardware should have been added after making the terrain and painting. It went on right away just to make sure everything would work. It did work despite haveing no two pieces of wood the same size. The box part really looks like crap up close, but luckly the terrain came out far better than I expected.

Really, the whole project was a learning expereince. Here's what I learned:
1) I need more practice with a circler saw or I need to buy a table saw(not happening)
2) next time I should just just pay my uncle to build the wood structure part. :)
3) just cause they call it a spray bottle doesn't mean it actually sprays.(mine squirted. :? )
4)measuring twice doesn't help if you measure it wrong both times.

That looks pretty cool.

I've seen a guy bring in a box similar to the link photo before.

Sometimes I wish I could just open a suitcase and have a HS map ready to go.

Portable HS is the BIG NEWS!

The modular construction of HS is one of the aspects that I like the most. Compared to other games setup/teardown times HS has them beat. Also the durability of the product is a plus, I have played more than one game outside on a picnic table or the floor of a gazebo. The biggest draw for me to get into HS was the terrain and its use in playing classic Battletech. If I had only had this when I was a kid playing Battletech daily *sigh* those were the days. Does anyone else remember Grox Blox?

DS,

That portable table is sweet! Just seeing that makes me want to play MW again. But, sadly I will not play MW until we get a house and I can set it up in my garage on a 4X8 table. That way I can leave it set up all the time. Those buildings look good as well!

django,

I love the Pikmin in your sig!

Beautiful stuff, man. I was a big MW player back in the day. Have you checked out the MW prepainted terrain on their site?

Oh dang, my favorite faction (BR) dishing it out. Who won?

Anyway, that is one sweet map. You did a very good job on it.

I don't even play the game, and the table is impressive! Great work on that, DarkSpade! And that demolished building is great! :D

That was just pieces set up, but I've got good news. The world MW champion is a BR fan. That means BR has been saved from being written out of the fiction. :)

Man, that board kick's butt! I like the way it's bumpy, it gives it a organic look. By the way, is Mechwarrior fun?

I'm an envoy for wizkids that runs mechwarrior tournaments, I'm currently working on my second board like this(more green this time), and I've probably spent a few thousand dollars on the game over the last several years.

yeah, I think it's fun, but my opinion may be a bit biased. :)
