View Full Version : How to beat Jandars army?

I've been getting it handed to me lately by people playing all things Jandar. Mostly, Sir Gilbert with some Knights of Weston and some 4th Mass. in support, every once in a while there is a Sgt. Drake sighting as well(SOTM). It seems no matter what I throw at them, I get run over. Any suggestions?

Counter with Vydar! Krav Maga, Majors, that'll stick it to 'em

Q9 for the squads. No questions.

I've thought of Q9 many times, but I honestly don't enjoy playing him or any of the robots for that matter. I don't know why, I just don't have fun with them. If I need a win, I just might have to pull him out though. Thanks for the tip.

I second the motion for Vydar in general and Majors in particular, but that's not the only choice.
If you just swap attack and defense rolls with such a Jandar army, you are in trouble. Don't trade hits-- go for unanswered shots instead. Look at figures with a range of 7 or more. If you move Aubriens, let's say, within exactly seven spaces of the army you describe, you can get a lot of unanswered shots. Even with Sir Gilbert helping, Knights usually won't be able to cover seven spaces in time to use their attacks, and 4th Mass who survive your barrage will have to advance and lose Wait Then Fire in order to retaliate. Next turn, your Aubriens back up to the seven-hex mark and make the same thing happen again. You've got to concentrate on making him waste his attack dice. Vydar just happens to be loaded with units who excel at such tactics.
Where SotM Drake is concerned, Venom is one figure that comes to mind with a lower price and a good chance to win one-on-one.

Simply, double-dog dare them to stick their tongues to the flagpole! It never fails!

In addition to Q9, I'd suggest a protected Braxas. (By protected I mean you can use Deathreavers and the like to lock them down- those Jandar armies won't have many special attacks.)
A well played Arrow Grut army can do well with Krug and possibly Mimring or Raelin helping out. You'll probably lose your first time trying it out, but it can work.

There is no answer to Jandar, just give up and go home now. :D

Marro Stingers worked wonders for me against jandar in my tournament. Using the Airborne Elite also work wonders against the likes of the 4th mass. Deathreavers can tie up knights all day to give room for your ranged units to take them down. Jandar suffers from not being able to move very well, even with Gibblets' help.

Yeah, Isamu's great for assassinating an army's "core hero." Like Drake, or Raelin.

Thanks everyone, I'll give some of these a try. I love using Isamu and have seen others drive people nuts with him, but he never works for me, I usually roll a 2 or 3 on the d20 and with 1 defense he has no shot. :(
