I was just wondering if anyone thought that the caslte rules were too complicated?

I don't think they are overly complicated but will take at least one game to get used to them (assuming all parts of the castle come into play during that game.) Once a few games are played, the rules will become second nature. In fact, we will probably see someone wanting to add rules to give a more "realistic" feeling to the castle. :D

In what way? They seem pretty easy to apply.

edit: Yeah, what Newb said.

Yeah, it's interesting you say that C&C. I felt the same way about one aspect of the castles in particular: the ladders. Went away thinking, "It will take me a few more re-reads of the ladder section and several games with them before I feel I really have it down pat." Just the fact that the ladders required so many diagrams speaks to the fact that it's probably the most complex part of the game yet developed.

I'm not complaining though

Only having read the rules, and not having actually played the set (obviously), I find that the castle rules build upon those of the Master rules. As mentioned, you might need to play the set a couple times to get used to some of the nuances of ladder movement, targeting, etc. But there is nothing in the rules that is so overly complicated, it makes me go, "What in the world does that mean?!"

And if there was something like that, well, I'd just come on here and ask for an answer to my question. :D

I dont think they are complex at all, the MK castle rulls were not that long, but added alot to the game, and THAT castle could attack (yeah weird I know) I think that having rulls in hand (at least for me) will make it easyer to read, but regardless, its not complex, its mainly how to build it.
Again, once you play it, shouldnt be hard to figure out.

I don't think it's complex at all I love being able to take over other poeples door's away by simply stepping on a space.

I think UD hit it. The rules really aren't that comlicated, but building a balanced map might be.

See now my friends who I play with seem to think different. I agree the rules aren't complicated. I was just trying to prove a point.

I have read through them a couple of times and I find them pretty easy to understand, it's my friend who might have trouble. Took me 30 minutes to explain height advantage.

You don't know how lucky you are I could go on and on about a certain person but I'll try not to.

The only real new rules for the castle are the ones regarding the ladders and the door. All the other rules are basically identical to stuff we're already used to from RTTFF and the MS.

The rules aren't too complicated, however, due to the nature of the ladders and levels, I'm positively sure that arguements will be plenty on who has height advantage and who is adjacent. There's really no way to simplify this any more than it has. Expect a bunch of "ruling" posts, hehehehe....

the rules look big in the instruction but one have three exampels or said the same three times.

and right to bulid a map will be hard.

castel in the middel
or a castel on a high corner.(in that way you have only bulid a big wall)

so gate castel a a good option

:!: but i miss one big rull that units can carry ladders abd can make a castel siege perfekt
exampel three orcs can carry a ladder stand it on the wall to make an easy entrance. like in the reality it is easy but easy for the defenders to drop ladder.
