Boundary Waters

My big vacation this year I'm going to Gunflint Lake, just outside of the Boundary Waters in Minnesota. In fact, I'm heading out the door in a few minutes! I won't be able to check the board for a while, but post here if you have any stories to tell about camping or wilderness trips.

We went two years ago, and we're doing the same trip this year--a small resort called Gunflint Pines, with day trips into the border of the BWCA.

Oh, I got to go now. See you all in a week!

Me flyfishing in Arkansas' White River.

My father, brother and I went on a long weekend camping and fishing trip in July (don't knock Arkansas till you tried it). We had put our canoe in to do a little fishing for a while but decided to move on. My father and brother who are up stream hop in the canoe and head my way. I go to step in the canoe and it tips slightly to one side getting water in the bottom of the canoe. We take our gear out dump the water out load back up and head on down stream laughing our asses off.

As we continue down stream we are seeing some beautiful brown and rainbow trout (White river is beautifully clear) and I decide to put a fly in the water. I look around and then asked, "Dad, where are the fly rods?" We had left them on the side of the river about 20 minutes upstream. We laughed our asses off, again. Got somebody to drive us back to roughly the spot off the canoe "incident" and since the tip is my fault I cross the river almost getting swept away twice to retrieve the poles.
