Sorry for asking this but my friend and I have just bought the MS and SotM (MS for myself and SotM for my friend). I was just wondering which one has better characters and/or strategies or if they're both basically equal in there own ways. Thank you.

To start they work well together. If you have both its better than just one.

Also I like sotm. It has campaign mission which add a depth to your fighting.

The first master set has more land and people. If you want strategy go for sotm.

Rise of the Valkyrie has the game's best unique squads in the Marro Warriors, Krav Maga Agents and Airborne Elite. It also gets old Raelin, one of the best heroes to have.

On the other hand, ranged common squads are about the first place to look for the backbone of a good army. The Swarm has Stingers x2, who are very good, and Drudge x2, who are okay on favorable maps. No SotM hero is as good as old Raelin, but Major Q10 is versatile, and Tor-Kul-Na has multiple d20 attacks on a bonding figure-- a serious threat. They will definitely get the job done if you make the mistake of splitting your attacks between too many targets.

So yes, I would say that each has a very different approach, but that both are about equal in power if you use the SotM commons as they're meant to be used (that is, in multiples).
