View Full Version : Win a free Castle set from House Mouse Games!
chaddyboy_2000

Hey everyone! I don't post on this site all that often, but I've been a HeroScape fan from day one when I found a master set mixed in with the Legos at WalMart (before WalMart even realized it belonged in the game section)! I'm mostly a lurker here at HeroScapers, as I was at .net and HeroScapeHQ, always checking the news section to get the latest scoop.
Here's the deal. I need you guys' help, and in return I'll send out Castle sets to three of the people that can help me out, sent directly to you from House Mouse Games.
A few weeks ago, I entered this t-shirt design:
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g22/chaddyboy_2000/chickendinner.jpg
into a contest at www.randomshirts.com, and whad'ya know, it got picked to be in the running for their t-shirt design contest!
I would really appreciate it if people could head on over and toss a vote my way! Since the top prize is $500, if you vote for me, send me a PM and I'll enter you in a drawing to win a free castle set if my design ends up in first place! Essentially, I'm willing to share 1/5th of the winning prize money in the form of castle sets, while supporting House Mouse Games, a great resource to the HeroScape community as well.
You can vote at: http://www.randomshirts.com/content.aspx?pg=ContestNew
Keep in mind that you'll have to do a quick registration for the site to vote. I've been registered for quite some time and have yet to get any junk mail from them, so if that's what's stopping you from voting, it's not a problem.
Since I'm not a well-established member here, I invite you to check out my profile over at www.boardgamegeek.com to assure you that I'm a reputable and honest person. I have a great trader rating over there. If I win, three of you WILL be receiving castle sets!
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/user/chaddyboy_2000
Thanks for your support! Hopefully, I'll be giving away three castle sets when this is all over!

Are you actually saying that you want to buy my vote and not try to compete on the merits of your design?

Are you actually saying that you want to buy my vote and not try to compete on the merits of your design?
That is correct! The merits of my design got me up to second place, now I just need a little something extra to give me the edge. Isn't that how politics work?
BTW, I like the new avatar. Very Spongebobbly.

Yeah, I'm very active over at BGG. I mainly a Eurogamer, but would NEVER turn down a good game of HeroScape. Unfortunately, I'm also a hopeless completist and HeroScape has also cost me nearly a thousand dollars already!
Like I said, I've been around since the early .net days, I just don't do a lot of posting. I figure if I don't have anything new to add to the pot I'll just keep my mouth shut, and you guys usually have everything pretty well covered around here! I'm a heck of a lot more useful over at BGG!

Ok, only 12 people are in so far, so there's currently a 1:4 chance of winning! Plus, my shirt is in the lead by 20% of the vote, so at this point it's pretty much a lock that the castles will be given away.
As for when the contest ends, randomshirts hasn't specified when the voting will be close.

The Dong (Chinese: 侗&26063; pinyin: Dòngzú; own name: Gaeml, in IPA [kɐm]) people are an ethnic group. They form one of the 56 ethnic groups officially recognized by the People's Republic of China, and are famed for their carpentry skills and unique architecture, in particular a form of covered bridge known as the "wind and rain bridge" (Chinese: 风雨桥). Their cuisine prominently features pickled foods and sticky rice.
They live mostly in Guizhou, Hunan, and Guangxi provinces of China.

ChaddyBoy, I commend your self-promotion effort.
My sister published an article about self-promotion for artists, and your approach is the type of thing she wrote about. Essentially, she stated that artists should not be afraid or ashamed of using any of the techniques that Madison Ave. uses on us all the time.
Your "Contest to win a contest" is like that, so I say, good for you!
Seems to be working, as I went to vote for you and you are clearly in the lead right now. Good Luck!

45%
Now the bad news, although could be way, way worse  , it appears your lead is slipping. With 1069 votes counted, here is how the current field stacks up:
Chicken_dinner - 41%
Dyslexia - 17%
Texas_mess - 8%
Monocle - 8%
Indiana - 5%
Peas - 5%
Chemistry - 4%
Virginity - 4%
Liposuction - 4%
Nice_slacks - 4%
So your shirt designs are currently in first and last place. With Luke Swantek's designs Dyslexia and Texas coming in second and third respectively. Reading through this thread and finding both of his designs have strong support, this may help you in the long run as it will split votes.
One final note:

Now the bad news, although could be way, way worse, it appears your lead is slipping.
Kind of, but not really. Since I had 40-some% of the vote to start with due to my campaigning, as more votes roll in my percent is bound to go down. However, that doesn't mean I'm losing my lead. Even if I were to get 30% of the vote from here on out, my overall percentage is still going to fall.
When I had 47% of the vote, I was ahead by about 260 votes. As of now, I'm down to 40% of the vote, but am still ahead by about 250 votes. So, even though I've dropped 7%, my lead hasn't really diminished all that much; the percentage drop is just a by-product of more votes rolling in.

When does the contest end?
The thread was first created on July 31, then...
I just received word from randomshirts that they are leaving voting open for 60 days, which means there is still 53 days or so left of voting. This lead is going to have to hold for a long time!
I don't know if he posted this as soon as it began, or shortly after. So the worst case is that voting will end on September 29.

I did too. I'm thinking that he probably just got too many responses to respond to each one individually.

Okay, chad is at 29%, losing to dyslexia which is at 32%. There have been 2964 votes cast. Therefore, he is behind by 100 votes, approximately. Time to start making bogus Yahoo! e-mail accounts. ;)

He got second place.
:verymad:
'Twas a noble* effort.
*Noblity is not a reflection upon Chad's successful attempt to buy votes or our willingness to help him. It was nobility unto our own noble selves for trying to snag castles. Nobility may not be relative, but some ethics can be situational. Now go wash yourself 40 times for contributing to Chad's cheating.

As has been said, my shirt came in 2nd. Thanks for all the votes guys!
As the shirt didn't take 1st, I unfortunately cannot give away any castles. However, since I'll be receiving 10 free shirts, I'll be giving away two of them! I'll do the drawing when I receive the shirts in the mail.
Thanks again!

That's very cool of you to go above and beyond what you had originally said you would do Chad. You're good folks. Thanks!
