View Full Version : Personality characteristic

I have a question; the answer may be obvious to people who have played regular heroscape but I just got Marvelscape and have not play the standard version. Does the personality trait list on the Master Game Side of the character cards ever come into to play. Are there rules that cover, for instance, Captain America’s “heroic” trait or is it just there for flavor with no game purpose?

The personalities actually don't effect gameplay. In Classic, there are a few figures with special abilities that let them bond with (work well with) figures who have a certain personality. Marvel may, in time, have figures with that mechanic. On another note, Cap doesn't have a "Heroic" personality, it is "Valiant." Some Classic figures like the 4th Massachusetts Line get a bonus because of this. "If every army card you control has a Valiant personality, each soldier in the 4th Massachusetts Line receives +1 Defense die."
I hope this was the answer you were looking for.

Welcome to the site, Splash-Page!
This is an interesting thing to speculate about while we're waiting for the next expansion to arrive - which Marvel characters could potentially have powers dependant on personality? Or will it only be something that comes up when Marvelscape is mixed with Heroscape?

To date, only a small number of Heroscape cards refer to the figure's personality.
Khosumet the Darklord (Wave 2) gives a bonus attack die to any adjacent "Relentless" figure.
4th Massachusetts Line (Wave 2) gain an extra defense die if your whole army has a "Valiant" personality.
Sacred Band (Wave 4) gain an extra defense die if your whole army has a "Disciplined" personality.
Parmenio (Wave 4) can change a card's personality to be "Disciplined" thus allowing them to work in a Disciplined army with the Sacred Band.
I think that's it right now.

My Wonder Woman custom refers to Tricky personalities. I'd really like to see personalities utilized more. Especially those that there are a lot of, like Tricky, or Terrifying, or Ferocious, or Precise. Valiant, Disciplined, and Relentless have at least been shown some love already.

Is there an official count / index of all the personality types? It seems that for a very small number of personalities, it matters (e.g. the valiant bonus for the 4th Mass.), but that for everyone else it's completely arbitrary.
It seems it would be a little unfortunate if Hasbro just kept adding random personalities without any regard for game dynamic, except once in a blue moon.
If they release Multiple Man for MarvelScape and his personality is listed as "Multiple," I'm going to be pissed.

They should continue to release new ones, so we don't get stuck with the same ones over and over, but revisiting old ones and adding to them is always more interesting and fun.

Is there an official count / index of all the personality types? Not really. But I hope this synergy chart works for you. It shows how each figure "powers up" or "bonds with" other figures. It's a bit much to take in the first time. My advice, pick an army card that you would like to get more out of it, then check the list for any synergies.
