two words: online multiplayer

I hate those words. Videogames, for me, are solo activities. Why would I want to play online? Why would I want to play with others? Makes no sense.

No, I'd far rather play a fully-featured Real-Time Strategy game on the PC instead of a simplified lite version of a strategy game without as much depth.

Company of Heroes is absolutely phenomenal as is SupCom and World in Conflict. Wow. And they already have had online capabilities from Day 1 of their release. :D

All that being said, I think my 7-year old Nephew might be interested in this game. He liked the first one...

I don't really like the rts. there is too much crap going on at once. You're trying to build 10 different kinds of buildings, gather 5 different kinds of resources, and then as you're doing that you're being attacked.

With advance wars, the resources are nice and simple, and it is more focused on actual fighting instead of playing simcity. You actually have time to think, and manuever your troops.

and with turn basedstuff, you only need one system with one game, even when you're playing fog of war.

I'/\/\ teh 1337!

Hey, I hear ya - but it's only certain RTSs that have that whole hectic craziness to them. World in Conflict, for example, has NO resource-management at all - it's pure combat with a regenerating resource system so it's all about capturing points and fighting.

For the DS, though, you're probably right to be pumped about the next Advance Wars, that's a good game for that system. I'd also be keen on the new Warhammer game coming out for it. That looks pretty sweet!

Wait, if it's a DS game, why is it called ADVANCE Wars? Shouldn't it be called DS Wars or something?

Yeah, Nintendo Wars. There's Famicom Wars, Game Boy Wars, Battalion Wars, Advance Wars. Why not DS Wars?

Becuase there is no significant gameplay change from advance wars to DS advance wars. Nintendo wars is what they call the series in Japan, not in the US. The first Nintendo wars game to reach the US was advance wars, so they might as well call the rest of the series advance wars.

Battalion wars is a spin-off, an attempt to make an rts out of advance wars. It is a very good attempt. I own the first one, and by judging a book by it's cover, battalion wars 2 is awesome. But it shouldn't really be in the list, as it is a different series with totally different gameplay.

No, it's still a Nintendo War game. Just because Advance Wars is the first in America doesn't make it a first - Fire Emblem, anyone?

I suppose with the game play it's fine... but Dual Wars or something would make MUCH more sense.

And they did: Advance Wars: Dual Strike. I think it was just to prevent confusion, so you knew you were getting a sequel, instead of a totally new game.

I just turned in 9 games at gamestop. I got 41 store credit dollars, which I decided to spend on Days of Ruin and this Tron 2.0 game. Both are very fun.

They've added some units, and changed some. BUT NOTHING IS OVER POWERED OR UNDER POWERED.

The battleship can fire indirect attacks after moving, but the sub seems to be more powerful to make up for it.

Capturing bases is now easier with the addition of the bike unit, a speedy vehicle unit able to capture things.

There are also many other new units.

Units can now level up and become more powerful. It gives you a reason to kill infantry with heavy tanks lol. Becuase the infantry can't do anything, while you gain experience.

And then you've got Online.
