Well, I wish I had something more constructive to say, but all I have to say is:
Cool! Great job.
This reminds me I have 2 SW themed figures I have to figure out a way to make.....
What was I saying? Oh yeah, nice work! :) :D

Thanks for the kind words. These two have been worked over back on HQ, taking into account the critiques of members there. So they're pretty close, if not completely, finished.
I do hope to post new customs soon, as I have several ideas I just need to put to paper, and then to card.

To help the attempted sesurgence of the customs community, I'm bumping this ancient thread of mine. I'm still not completely satisfied with the cost of the Zombikazes, and may even lower them to 60.
Asajj... well, I think she is overpriced as well. 120 seems more fitting, in my mind.

Can the ZOMBIKAZES go KABOOM at will? Or only when attacked? Also, you might want to add that they are NOT immune to KABOOM. So one goes up and suddenly.... CHAIN REACTION!!! :)

From reading the card, they can only go Kaboom, when they are destroyed.
Also, I don't think there needs to be a clause about them not being immune. There is nothing that suggests that they might be immune. They could possibly be destroyed by another Kaboom and thus go Kaboom themselves.
I am reading that right, right Hex?
I always liked these guys. They definately need to be in the Barracks.

The zombikazes are freaking SWEET!!! I love exhume. It's perfect - you have to risk an order marker, but they might just spawn in like AEs. And the explode power is fantastic.
Asajj seems very balanced, too.

The Zombikaze's are fantastic! Great card, and they seem like they'd be a riot to play. (Must remember to get me some at the first opportunity!)
The only thing I'd change, is the name of the Exhume power. I know this is exteremely nitpicky but exhuming implies someone else is doing the digging up. I'd change it to Arise or Arise from the Grave or something along those lines. But that is a VERY minor point. Overall I think it is a terrific unit.
Asajj Ventress looks very cool as well, but the zombies just look a good time waiting to happen! :D

Asajj... well, I think she is overpriced as well. 120 seems more fitting, in my mind.
Comments or opinions?Hmm, I'll start with Asajj. She seems pretty well priced at 120 in that double strike with 4 attack dice is pretty potent, and the ability to move and attack again if the first unit is destroyed ends up with the possibility of 4 attacks per turn (2 attacks on 2 different units assuming the first unit is destroyed) Thorian speed, and partial disengage all make this a pretty potent unit. If you compare her to Drake, you seem to get quite a bit more value for the extra 25 points. 135 seems good, though if we end up with many official units that help out dark lords, then it may be too low. Part of Drake's value seems to be the from soldier bonuses included on other units. Very well done powers, thematically, in my view.
As for the cost of the Zombiekazies, hard to say. Play testing would have to be the decider here. Although the Kaboom special is pretty potent, it is easy to negate with a ranged attack. Couple that with their slow move and I'd say you would be pretty safe to bring them down, maybe even to 50. Comparing them to the airborne elite, you get "drop" and grenade but with fewer figures, and the grenade results in the death of the unit. Yeah, I'm thinking 50.

Also, you don't even get to "drop" on stone, a castle, or lava.

Yes, you are reading the card right. While I would have liked to add more clarification to the card, the additional text just won't fit. But I think it's pretty self explanatory that a Zombikaze chain reaction could happen if the squad isn't spaced out... or, it could be something you WANT to happen.
Where did you get the minis for the zombies! I want a squad!
As mentioned, the minis are the MK Detonating Zombie fig. At the time, I purchased six from TrollandToad.com, and another three from some random MK supplier that I don't even remember the name of anymore. However, I've been looking for more of the fig, but most online stores seem to have sold out... :(
Hex, I can't remember if these were the only 2 you had back at .net/hq, or if there were more. I remember the Zombikazes, but I thought you had more stuff? Here's hoping you do.
What ever happened with the Horgle Project?
I never actually got around to posting more cards on .NET or the HQ, though I did have some figs I was testing, as well as some ideas. However, when I moved to AZ, my previous computer was crushed, and thus, so were a lot of my custom files. Eventually I hope to recreate them. But right now, I just don't have the time.
As for the Horgle Project, there has been a temporary hold placed on it on my end. I've this ridiculous urge to see my zombie game design through to the end, so that's taken up the majority of my "me" time. However, I did tell Nether that the units posted in 'Phase 2' need to be playtested. And if there is a unit someone is going to play, to PM me as I'm thinking of tweaking stats a bit to make them even less expensive than they are now.
One final note, I am going to adjust the point cost of each of these units:
Zomikazes = 65
Asajj Ventress = 120
I'd also like to say THANK YOU to everyone's input. Truly awesome. :D

Wow... I knew I had a custom unit thread around here somewhere!
A friend asked to play the Zombikazes tonight, only to find out that the card's abilities raised a lot of questions. The wording on both the previous incarnations of 'Exhume' and 'KaBoom' weren't clear for him. And it was easy to figure out why.
Thus, I decided to resurrect (see what I did there?) the Zombikazes and fix 'em.
I reworded 'Exhume' to better and more easily work with multiple squads of these Zeds, and tweaked 'KaBoom' to be more specific regarding just how high and low the blast radius spreads. I also updated their stats to better reflect the ZoM's, and decreased their point cost.
Let me know what you think. I'm posting the card here and updating my first post, as well.

The only unfortunate thing about this card is that the figs are hard to come by. And when you do find them, they're pricey for an MK fig.
That said, after these changes were made, they played a LOT smoother for my friend. And they were HILARIOUS to play. Especially when he fielded 3 squads of them!
Also added the revised Asajj card to my first post.
And as a side note... I have been working on the Horgle project here and there. I can't believe I started that thing back in '06, and STILL have yet to wrap it up! Geez...

The previous version of the Zombikaze card is in the barracks. However, I do hope that it can be replaced by the current version. The new card is different, yes. Personally, though, I think the newer to be the better of the two. Easier to use in larger numbers, and just as fun.
Also, you mentioned you drafted the Zombikazes. How did they work for you? Was the card easy to understand?
P.S. ~ Congrats on your upcoming wedding, by the way. :D

As I wait for a couple figures to arrive for the Horgle project, I decided to begin a little work on some other custom units for figures I've had sitting in a box atop all my Heroscape stuff.
The first of which is... FROSTICUS!

Figures used: Mage Knight's 2004 Holiday Figure, Frosty the Snowminion
I was able to find this fig on eBay for a decent Buy-It-Now price, and tried to squeeze as much theme out of him as possible.
A few other Special Powers I was considering were Snow Blindness, which is essentially was Thorian Speed if Frosticus is on a snow space. Also, Advanced Ice Movement, which worked the same as the move bonus you get from road tiles, only for ice. Another being the Snow Spade of Walloping, which was a play on Agent Carr's Sword of Reckoning. And finally, Snow Transfer, which allowed Frosticus to move to any snow space within 8 clear sight spaces, but he could not attack if that power was used.
Obviously, he's a terrain specific unit. But pretty fun for those oh so icy maps. So let me know what you think. Critiques are always welcome.
:D
EDIT: Yes, ANOTHER Utgar unit. However the next couple will be for different generals.

I've always had a soft spot for that snowman guy. :) How can you not love a mini so awesomely Christmas evul-looking? Darkspade did a version of the guy quite a while back, and I kept meaning to do a prettier reworking of the older card, having obtained DS's permission... and lo and behold you did it for me. ;) I even gave Frosty a cameo in my old Christmas fic, though I expect no one remembers that by now.
Overall for theme I think I prefer DS's version, as the special ability names had references to the actual Frosty the Snowman song and it upped the hilarity factor of the card significantly. The special that let him attack multiple times really gives you a fun mental image of how the shovel-smacking plays out, too. However, mechanically yours is much more professional-looking and worded. As far as pure creativity goes the abilities on both cards, no offense, are a bit paint by numbers... but the Glacier Avalanche stands out as being interesting and new, and I likes it. I just think you could milk the concept for more yet before it's dry.
Also, while Frosty works well as an Utgar figure, looking all evul, I think he'd also work okay as an Ullar figure, being made of ice and therefore naturey. Just thought I'd throw that out there in case you were tired of making red cards. ;)

Frosticus is cool 8)
Snowball Special Attack: I think you want to say that he can only use it when he is on a snow or ice space. As it is now, he can use it whenever, even on a lava field
Glacier Avalanche: I like this one a lot but it seems like it should be a special attack. I don't know of any official abilities that use "instead of attacking" but still require rolling attack dice. It could be a D20 but I think you wanted the targets to be able to defend. I do have a Lightning attack for Storm that uses a D20 that requires targets to roll defense against a certain amount of hits depending on the roll result. It is a custom so new wording and mechanics are not restricted but if the goal is to be as official as possible, the special attack may be best.

I love everything about Frosticus Iciclus. He's exactly how a terrain-based unit should be; the powers are fresh and original, while still feeling like they fit in with Heroscape (and with a careful eye towards proper wording/formatting :) ). The only thing I might change is, as allskulls suggested, making Glacier Avalance into a special attack. Other than that, perfect. I'm going to go look on Ebay for one of those figs so I can start playing this guy.
On a semi-related side note, on the day we got unexpected snow up here in Eugene, OR, we built an especially snow-heavy map where every figure on a snow or ice space had the option to do a Snowball special attack, range 5, attack 1. I killed 2 Krav Maga agents that way. :D

Update :: 7.16.09
I've been trying to put together a unit card based on the Marvel comic army cards, and I finally finished. Obviously, there are a few visual differences. Most notably the lights replacing the power cables. I did this to help better signify that the set-up is my own card design seeing as how I couldn't fit my tag anywhere on the card without it looking overly ugly. I may switch the lights up with something different based on the characters I put together. But for now, this is good.
Also, I created my own super strength and flight icons. Not a knock against those here on this site. I just wanted to use EPS versions. And, okay, I kind of like my flight icon a little more. :p
So take a look and let me know what you think!

I mixed this one up with stats and a power of my own, some heavy inspiration from Annerios' great Predator customs, and some rewording of different special powers. I got a great deal on this figure, so I've been meaning to put it to use for a while.
Originally I had this guy set up as a Vydar unit. But I think the comic book card template really helps to provide the unit with more theme.

The fonts used aren't the official ones, but you're right in that they do look pretty close.
The race/class/etc. box is all Frankilin Gothic Demi Condensed. Special powers are Arial Narrow (bold and normal). And the stats are Franklin Gothic Demi Condensed at a width reduction of 90%.
As for the cards, everything is done in Photoshop. I did take pictures of the minis myself so as to set them up at angles which work best for me. I then set up the stats, icons and other text in InDesign.

A custom unit I put together after looking around at some of the other existing Deadpool units posted here on Heroscape. The special powers do mirror other Deadpool customs, but I tried to pack as much theme into this one as I could. Also added the Deadpool logo near the bottom of the card to just give the background a little more flair. You know, Deadpool style. ;)

Note that with all the wording for the special powers, the font size had to be set at 6.5pt! So it's really, really, REALLY small. Think Jotun special powers small!

As far as the Horgle, I'm hoping to put the cards up in the next few weeks. My free time is scarce at the moment with a lot going on in my life. From freelance work, to moving my fiancee in to my place, to more freelance work. But the horde will see the light of day eventually!
Though I'm pretty sure I said that last year, too... :p

For Frosticus's snowball special attack I'd recommend rewording it to "may not use Snowball Special Attack unless he is standing on a snow or ice space". With the way you have it worded now it's not quite clear what it's meant to do. Other than it looks good. It's always nice to see one of the original custom makers still going at it.
