Just thought that Iron Maiden should do a new song called The Flight of Theracus, a sequel of sorts to their classic song The Flight of Icarus

Since getting Theracus, I've been calling him Theracus and The-roll-us

Nobody cares I'm sure, but I thought I'd just share those thoughts. :)

as the sun breaks, above the ground, an old man stands on a hill (thorgrim, maybe)
as the ground warms, to the first rays of light, a bird's song shatters the still. (maybe theracus coming in for a landing)
his eyes, are ablaze, see the madman in his gaze! (maybe not Thorgrim, he is a valiant personality, not crazed)
fly, on your way, like an eagle, fly, touch the sun, on your way, like an eagle, fly touch the sun, yeah!
now the crowd breaks, and a gryphillin appears, and looks the old man in the eye. (I am thinking that the old man might be Moresbane, he is old and sort of screwy, but he is a spell-casting elf, any other candidates, just post here)
as he spreads his wings, and squawk at the crowd "CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAWCAW CAW CAW" ( for those who don't know the original it is "in the name of God father I'll fly")
his eyes, seem so glazed, as he flies, on the wings of a dream
now he knows, his father betrayed as his wings turn to ashes, to ashes his grave. (Moresbane is kind of a bad guy, right?)
fly, on your way, like an eagle, fly, touch the sun, on your way, like an eagle, fly touch the sun.
well, that is a quick crack at it for you, Hahma.
in the original story, before Steve Harris got his spin on it, both Icarus and his father flew too high and both fell to thier doom, right?feathers held together with wax, I believe.
hhhmm. should have tried duct tape!
later!

That's easily one of my favorite Maiden songs.

" to tame a land" is great, that whole "piece of mind" CD is great. but you know, is there a living person who doesn't like the "powerslave" CD?
I mean, come on. "the rime of the ancient mariner"
'nuff said.

Point of geeky clarification: Only Icarus flew too high. His father made it safely to land and destroyed the wings, vowing never to fly again.

Funny idea, though!

er....thanks for the clarification, I was only going on that by memory from a long time ago, so thank you very much I really appreciate that. hey, I noticed that you didn't make a ruling on an Iron Maiden song!
chip in, so that we know which song you like from Iron Maiden. I was singing "die with your boots on" today. you guys have got me in the mood to sing some Maiden. hey, check out "Wicker Man" or "The Brotherhood" from the "Brave New World" CD. those are cool songs too.
later

yeah yeah, Doug. I am on it, I swear to you!

They are coming to Chicago in October, I saw them there on their Powerslave tour (very cool) but haven't gotten to see them since. I might have to drag my bro in-law there to see that one. I'm going to see Michael Schenker with him in Sept, so he can return the favor, eh :D

It would be cool to see a bunch of late thirty/early fourty year-old headbangers, rockin to Maiden.

Maybe I won't go see Iron Maiden in October. I just checked ticket prices and all I could find was $170 - $210 each. Even if I could bring myself to pull the trigger, I couldn't get my bro in-law to do it, my sister would kill him and then kill me for asking him to do it.

Besides, I can buy a LOT of Heroscape stuff for that kind of money :D

Perhaps I'll just by one of their concert videos and turn out the lights in the living room with a bic lighter in one hand and a beer in the other.

edited for misspelling

As much as I'd LOVE to go see them, supply demand... ya know?
PLUS opportunity cost of not being able to do my masse HS order here pretty soon. Gotta weigh options.

I was able to see Maiden on the Powerslave tour and also on the Somewhere in Time tours.
both were freaking excellent.
hey, if you want to see what the Powerslave tour was like, "Live after Death" was taken from that tour and is outstanding.
(Maiden fans knew that anyway)
if you don't listen to Maiden, you seriously have something wrong with you.
now, who can tell me what is spoken backwards at the beginning of "Revelations"?
of course I know, do you?

Honestly, I don't remember what was said backwards. I knew at one point years ago, but have since forgotten.

I listened to Live After Death (disc one) about five times in a row today at work. I was texturing a 1500sqft ceiling and it was messy business, so I didn't feel like cleaning up to put in my AFI cd, so I just kept pressing "play" everytime the cd ended.

I saw the Powerslave tour in Chicago many years ago and sadly that's the only time I got to see them. One of the best damn concerts ever!

I wonder if there are any Eddie figures that could be used for HS. That would be freaking cool to see eddie tear up some orcs or something.

People that don't like Maiden, have never listened to Maiden.

If he doesn't like maiden, he isn't perfect.
It's a deep rooted character flaw.
