I am stuck. I need to make a map for a lot of figures. The large maps i have seen use multiple RoTV, RttFF, SotM, etc. I need a map that is large, exciting, and can be made with only one kind of each expansion and several extra double-hex snow tiles. (From figure expansions.) Thanks in advance to any help.

I'd just say make a big map with elemental sections, meaning a lava area, snow area, forest area, etc. Or get an idea of a map's layout from one of the huger maps in the "Monster Map" thread and just make it smaller so it just requires all of your peices intead of like what you said "multiple ROTV, etc...".

What I ment by exciting is that i dont want a one level map without any nice features.

If there are no areas of height, even that 1 hex that's a level higher than the rest han be very exciting.

I'd say just build an area that's big enough for your business, and then use your extra terrain pieces to block LOS and make interesting skirmish areas - make a cool wall or little fort or ice maze or whatever.

Unless you're trying to use this thing for a tourney, no one's gonna fault you if it's not perfect :D

So much terrain can only build so much... buy more ;)

He's right. I'd say you need at least two RotV sets to make an "interesting" map that is big enough for larger battles. And it's worth it.

Also, have you thought about tracing hexes onto construction paper for a base layer?

Build it as big as necessary add a river and bridge, possibly coming from melting snow with some trees... Somewhere else maybe a small crack in the earth with lava. just build it as big as necessary then be creative.

How many players are going to play with that "a lot" of figures?

Make flat maps with a maximum of 3-4 levels of elevations. That way you can make it as wide as you can. Put glyphs on strategic places to make your games fun. Put many LOS blockers to handicap range units (trees, ruins, castle walls--if you have FOTA). Also make great scenarios (capture flag, assassinate, rescue, destroy hive).
