Hey everyone! Blackrock here; I realize I haven't been posting in a while. I haven't gotten so much time to play with anyone, but this holiday I was hoping to share Marvel Heroscape with a comic artist friend of ours and his wife. They play Heroclix and I thought it'd be a light-weight bit o' fun to bring along incase they were interested.
Anyway, I don't like Genotech and Tribeca Labs from the manual, and while I realize there aren't many options with the minimal tiles provided by a single The Conflict Begins set, that's all I've got, and I'm looking for more interesting maps, with or without scenarios. Scenarios are fine, I haven't even tried Genotech yet, but if you have any good Marvel last-man-standing skirmish maps I'd love to see them ASAP!
Many thanks in advance. We might want to look into a section in the downloads gallery for Marvel maps if we find out enough people are getting creative with it.

The Marvel set by itself really does not allow for much creativity. Even allowing for the inclusion of other sets, there have only been a handful of Marvel maps posted (see my SotM/Marvel map thread (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=13520)). There isn't enough terrain for an interesting map; just spread it out so the figures have room to maneuver, and play.

Hey, no problem GB! That's a nice one you've whipped up there, it should work just dandy. I'll have to memorize it without build plans (I might not be able to print on this computer anyway) but it looks simple enough.
I look eagerly forward to December, when the 10 new figures will be out, but I hope they make a Marvel terrain expansion sometime; Just some more concrete and asphault would be nice, but I'd really love some new urban obstacles. I've tried making a construction site out of sand tiles from both master sets and the Marvel set; maybe they'll look into something like that in the future. Anyway, thanks for that one!

For some reason I felt compelled to create this map - I hope it goes over well!

If you have one or more Castle sets and at least one Swarm of the Marro set, you can create really cool sewer systems. I don't have exact plans (I improvise when I build my maps) but it is quite easy to do.

Obviously you want to start with the sewers. Place Castle wall pieces one or two spaces away from eachother. Try to keep it uniform throughout the whole sewer (it is more aestheitcally pleasing). You can have gaps between walls. Tell your opponents to imagine the space being filled. Now, fill all empty places between your "castles" with swamp water.

We are not quite finished yet. Use road tiles (and castle wall tops) to create a more sturdy base for your main map. Make sure to leave at least one hole. We will go more into that later.

Finally start building your map. Make sure to provide plenty of support around map edges to make up for your sewers. The other thing to take note of: remember that hole in the "sewer roof"? Make sure your asphalt street goes over it and remove tiles so that the hole mentioned earlier and only that single space hole is visible. Now you have an enterance to the sewers!

For the finishing touch, build a ladder down from the hole into the sewer. Suddenly you have a brilliant second stage of map. It can add a whole new dimension and it's quite fun to battle under Manhatten.

EDIT: I should clarify

By "If you have" I meant "If you choose to get." I honestly did read your post; I just wasn't careful with my wording.

I agree, I never really tried making just maps using the Marvel pieces. Their is just not a lot to work with. I find it best to use at least a RttFF (For the trees and roadways), a FotA (The castle pieces make great buildings), and a RotV/SotM set to really flesh it out. The TT can be useful as well, but I've only ever used the VW set once (See my marvel map called Secret Lab, as mentioned before). I have whipped together a few maps trying to just use the marvel pieces. All 4 are pretty small, but figured I'd try and help you out a bit. If you get other expansions, I have a handful of maps in my map thread based on marvel.

The prob. is the marvel set included 40 tiles i'd suggest gettin forgotten forest, thaelenk tundra, volcarren wasteland, or a master set cuz ive seen some marvel maps using lava as radiation or one using fortress of the archkyrie as buildings

The Marvel set was a way to hook people into playing Heroscape.
It was the cheese in mouse trap of Heroscape addiction.

Yeah, I bought the Marvelscape first, as many others have (see Players who got hooked through Marvelscape). When I bough it I wanted more land but did not want to buy a whole masterset so bought lava set (back in 2007 when they were in ToysRUs). It was good for a time to use as the base of hills under asphalt, but sooner or later you need more land so I bought a masterset and then was hooked. Even the D&D set has more land than Marvel.
