Here's my maps I feel are worth sharing. All have been play tested several times and should provide good games. Please feel free to leave comments/suggestions. Have fun! (I have about 10 other maps to share and also don't mind custom creating maps if you'd like me to).

Last Update -
10/27/07 added Side Track, a ~2MS (could be done w/1MS + expansion terrain) & 2RTTFF map.
10/1/07 added Skirmish Swamp, a 1 SOTM MS & 1 RTTFF map.

Side Track
~2MS + 2RTTFF
Eliminate or Infiltrate the enemy.

The hidden road on each side of the valley provides an alternate route to the enemy. Will the forest protect you while you race towards the enemy camp? Is meeting them head on in the mountain valley a better option? Pick your path and avoid getting side tracked.

Defeat the enemy army or get all of your remaining army into the opposite/enemy starting zone. If you get your remaining army into the enemy start zone you must have at least half of your overall draft points left (ie. if you drafted 500pt armies, you must have at least 250pts left).

Skirmish Swamp
1 SOTM MS, 1 RTTFF (ROCK & WATER TILES SHOULD BE SWAMP AND SWAMP WATER TILES due to Landscape version)

Infiltrate or Instigate

3 MS, 2 RTTFF, + booster expansion tiles
2 Players - Eliminate opposing army or infiltrate opposing army post to win.

Your enemy army has claimed a post nearby. Do you infiltrate and seize their post, or should you instigate a battle and eliminate them one by one. Take the fast road into their camp or sneak up through the lowland forest and confront your enemy.

Area Dominance
3 MS, 2RTTFF, 2VW, + booster expansion tiles
2 Players or 4 in two teams - Eliminate opposing army or control 3 areas of land simultaneously to win.

Most battles are won by eliminating the opponent, but can you win by fending off the enemy and dominating the land? Take control of the areas and prove your dominance of the land.

Over the Mountain
3 MS, 2 RTTFF, + booster expansion terrain
2 Players, Eliminate the opponent's army

A mountain separates your army and your enemy's army. Climb and hide to try and pick off incoming enemies or take the dangerous narrow road for a fast infiltration. Either way you're bound for battle.

Uncommon Ground
2 MS. 2 player, Eliminate the opponents army.

This map was custom made for user 'Player of Football' on heroscapers.com. He owns an unusual number of tiles and wanted a custom map made to use those tiles. This inspired the title, 'Uncommon' Ground.

Down to the Valley
2MS. 2 player, Eliminate the opponents army.

This map was custom made for user 'Player of Football' as requested. Your army starts upon a mountain and must come or shoot 'down to the valley' to battle your opponent.

Volcanic Draw
2MS, 1RTTFF, 1VW. 2 player, Return the missing artifacts to your army base or defeat the opposing army.

This map was custom made for wimba808. This map involves a goal oriented scenario but will also involve battle due to the 'draw' towards the artifacts needed to complete the goal.

To the Other Side
2MS, 2RTTFF, 2VW, +booster expansion tiles. 2 or 4 player switch starting zones or defeat the opposing armies.

The idea behind this map was to make a difficult path to get your army 'to the other side' yet also intice battle. The crossing of paths between armies is inevitible so prepare accordingly. Can you get your team 'to the other side' before your opponent?

THE FOLLOWING MAPS ARE MADE WITH THAELENK TUNDRA AND WILL BE CHALLENGING TO MAKE DUE TO HOW THEY ARE CARTOGRAPHED WITH LANDSCAPE SINCE IT HAS NOT YET INCOPORATED SNOW/ICE/GLACIERS. I WILL UPDATE THEM ONCE LANDSCAPE 4.0 IS AVAILABLE AND THEN MAKE THEM AVAILABLE IN THE DOWNLOADS SECTION. FEEL FREE TO PM ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE THEM BEFORE THEN.

Meltdown
3MS, 2RTTFF, 2VW, +booster expansion tiles. 2 or 4 player bring the sacrificial virgin to the top of the volcano before your opponent or eliminate the opposing armies.

Your precious frozen tundra is being threatened by the fire gods. You must make a sacrifice by claiming a virgin (glyph of Brandar) and bringing it atop the firery volcano. If you succeed you have satisfied the fire gods and kept the volcano from further threatening the meltdown of your land.

Of Fire and Ice
3MS, 2RTTFF, 2VW, +booster expansion tiles. 2 Player sieze the enemy post or defeat the enemy army.

Great powers are found in the land of fire and ice. The Volcaren Wasteland will bring you special powers in attack and curse. The Thealenk Tundra will bring you special powers in defense and healing. Claim your territory, use its' powers, and defend it.

hey, cavie!

those are really cool. have you had a chance to play some games on them yet? let us know how they turn out. if you build them in real life, try to get some photos to show us. i like real photos.

Thanks Caravaggio,
I have played both maps as well as all the maps I post - I only like putting out stuff that I know works. Instigate or Infiltrate is my personal favorite to play (my most recent build). My son and I have played it quite a bit and it seems to be well balanced. I will see if my father in law will let me borrow his digital camera and I'll get some real photos up.

Wow, Cavie, these are your best looking maps yet, IMHO. Nice work.

I love those maps. Especially infiltrate or instigate, or vice versa, or whatever it was called.

yeah, that map looks really cool. i especially like the "mountain paths" and the high bridge. i've only built a few symetrical maps since usually there are about 5 or 6 of us playing, but for a two player game (or 4 players in teams) this map is great. it seems balanced but still has a nice natural look to it.

Here's a bump of this thread since I updated by adding a map (made a while back but thought I'd include it). I have 2 maps with tundra and I will get them on here as soon as LS4.0 is ready. They are in LS now but it's hard to understand the snow & glaciers exactly.

As usual, cavie, your maps are superb!!! Thank You!

I would have to agree, I like the infiltratre and instigate map, very cool indeed. Nicely done!!

Thanks Jandar and Skynight - I appreciate the response. Sometimes you wonder if your stuff ever gets used. My whole intent in posting them is really just to give back. When I first got on .net all I did was download members maps and play them. I still like doing that if I'm not making one of my own. That's one of the cool parts about this site!

Speaking of building - I just finished and play tested my biggest map yet. Used 3MS, 2RTTFF, 2VW, 1TT, and lots of expansion tile. I hesitate to post it here until we have LS4.0 since the snow and glaciers are hard to read the way I have them recorded in LS3.2. It's a fun one with some cool little hide out stations under bridges where you can pick off incoming enemies.

Nice maps, i've used "AreaDominance" and now eager to try out "Over the Mountain"

cavie
June 7th, 2006, 10:20 AM
Thanks for the response Amish - Over the Mountain is more battle oriented. We play tested without glyphs and it works well like that too. It's one of my later maps where I was trying to eliminate rules and complications and make a better basic battle map.

I like over the mt..

Have you tried covering the mt with snow?

I may take the liberty of doing so.

cavie
June 7th, 2006, 12:49 PM
OPrime,
Have not tried that but I have worked a couple other 'mountainous' areas with snow. Let me know how that works - would be glad to add that if it works well.

Here's a bump for the new maps as of 8/15/06. Please ask if you want to try building the tundra maps - it will be challenging reading them but possible to set up.

What is the hole in the Meltdown? I loved all the maps!

cavie
August 15th, 2006, 10:21 PM
The hole is ice - if you want to build either Meltdown or Of Fire & Ice you'll need to read Additional Rules section in the scenario instructions. I can help if you have questions. Just pm me.

Here's a bump for anyone looking for a SOTM map. I've started making less master set/smaller maps now. The latest uses 1 SOTM MS and 1 RTTFF - see page 1, 1st post.

cavie
October 27th, 2007, 12:05 PM
Continuing the smaller map making quest so here's a bump with the currently made and played map (on page 1, Side Track). This map can be made with 1MS and expansion terrain but you'll need 2RTTFF for the tree cover.

Cavie,

I'd be happy to convert those maps into VS files for you (with high quality renders) for your pictures. Not saying that they don't look good or anything (don't get me wrong)... but I'm just offering if you wanted them to look a little more realistic.

I've always loved Infiltrate or Investigate, btw. That's a GREAT design!

Maps are interesting and have diffrence from each other. While a void is still stirring in me(far, far in me) I believe your maps have some option and can have some what of a turn in the game stratigy.

8.5/10

Thanks for the replies guys.

CRUD, back when I was making those larger maps (3MS maps) I felt I had too much in the size and scenario/rules. Now I like having 2 or 3 smaller maps set up and playing more small skirmishes. I seem to get more out of these smaller scale designs.

Nadi, I really appreciate your offer. A long time ago (back on the old HS sites) Oogie Da Bruce converted some of my old maps for me and it was really nice being able to present them that way. Let me know how I can send those to you. THANK YOU!

Np, Cavie.

I've gotten three of them converted with a single picture of each. I'll upload them and post them on this thread when I'm done. :)

You make good maps!

cavie
October 28th, 2007, 07:33 AM
Cool! I didn't know you could do that without the LandScape file. How does that work?

Nadi
October 28th, 2007, 08:53 AM
I download your PDFs and just rebuild them. :D

cavie
October 28th, 2007, 10:52 AM
Well, if it is easier for you to have me send the LandScape files I'll do that. You don't need to go through all that work!

Nadi
October 28th, 2007, 12:35 PM
Ah, don't worry about it. It doesn't long at all.
